[cite]Posted By: Chunes[/cite]The board haven't been shy about the fact they don't really care for this season. And they've said they're going to spend money in the summer and have big plans for next year. So, at current, we have a squad of players who know that they will in all likelihood most of them will not be playing next season, with the added motivation that the club is expecting them to accomplish absolutely nothing this season. It's a ridiculous situation and could have been handled a million times better.
Totally agree. It's not only Powell that's wet behind the ears !
When the hierachy are mentioning in the car park to fans and elsewhere that there is going to be an exodus of players in the summer, it filters down to the players, it must do.
Slater et al are looking more and more stupid as every week passes in my opinion. Yes, the atmosphere in the stands was awful towards the end of Parky's tenure but we still had fight and the players had a knowledge of what each of their roles was. That's gone.
It pains me to say it but Powell looks out of his depth from tactics, team selections, the timing of substitutions, to the substitutions themselves. There is currently no light at the end of the tunnel regardless of the PR machine at work at The Valley or the words of a journalist say. We are deep in trouble and the corner is miles away.
And stop saying we're writing this season off, we had almost 25% of games to go before today. They will be losing far more than players at the end of the season - they have stuck up two fingers to all of us fans and £50 is not going to change that.
Agree chunes , it could of been handled a whole lot better , but will it take league 2 to make fans realise that powell is not up to the job . Why do people think he will be a good manager I just really dont understand it , les reed knew and he walked , I hope powell does the same , then let peacock take charge untill the summer. Ffs im really worried we could go down again.
If the board and "sir" chris powell have written this season and given up then why bother watching charlton this season . Especially if they have only 4 shots against a poor side ie D&R .. PATHETIC

An excellent post WSS and sums up my feelings exactly.
[cite]Posted By: RodneyCharltonTrotta[/cite]This needs to be stuck up in the players car park. Big clear out in the summer i hope. Very weak players in every sense.
Well I would endorse that, but some people on here think that when you criticise the players, or there attitude you suddenly become disloyal and anti Charlton!.
I always found it surprissing that Parky went as he did, and as much as I admire Chris as a man, I have doubts myself, but in fairness how do any of us know what he is like in man management.
Yes, he has made some tactical mistakes, and his late subbing is a bit puzzling!.
I am not convinced changing him at present is the right thing to do, I feel Charlton need time to rebuild the team which is obviously not playing well as a unit!, or as a team that most of us
on here think should be in the playoffs as a minimuim!.
So on that performance he has failed!, harsh and unrealistic perhaps, but this is a result's driven business, and Chris will be aware of this more than most!.
If it was my decision then I would keep him, but have a heart to heart with him!, ask if he needs help, support, a drink! whatever.
Having come down to the Valley a few weeks ago, and met Chris and Slater at a meet the fans event, I would be surprissed if things remain this way for long!
God help us/me if we get sucked into a relegation battle, the thought of Div 2 sends a shudder through me, perhaps on second thoughts Chris had better have a quiet word with me/ drink, if getting beaten by D&R was not bad enough the above senario is a nightmare!.........
Worrying times indeed. This reminds me of the Bryan Gunn situation at Norwich last year. Their board had the guts to realise they had taken a gamble and it failed so they acted quickly and look where they are now. Our board also took a gamble and it obviously isn't working. I think Chris is out of his depth. Maybe in the future he'll learn enough to manage a team but at the moment he's clueless and we're like a ship without a rudder. He just doesn't seem to understand the nuances of playing it tightly and keeping the shape of the team. Basic stuff. I also don't think waiting until the summer will make any difference. It doesn't fill me with confidence that he would know what he's doing with any team. Much like Bryan Gunn really.
I'm assuming that if the hierarchy have written this season off with 4 or 5 home games to go (clearly the manager & players have) they won't argue if season ticket holders claim a pro rata refund.
I think its disgraceful and insulting to talk about writing this season off - especially where we were when THEY made the brilliant decision of sacking a manager who had us in fifth place with automatic promotion in our own hands.
At least surviving in this league is still in our own hands...
In the space of one month we have gone from promotion hopefuls to relegation possibles. I genuinely thought the club had reached rock bottom and the only way was up. I think I was wrong on both counts. I don't want CP sacked but I have no solution to the train wreck that our club has become. Bottle of wine time for me I think.
You're not fit to wear the shirt? You don't know what your doing? All fair and justfied comments at the players and the management staff, but should "You don't what your doing" also be directed at the board/new owners?
In my opinion, Mr Slater and the board are as much to blame for this current run, due to them sacking Parkinson and bringing in Powell to keep the fans happy. Well i'm not happy Mr Slater, and i'm sure we would like to hear what you think of this current run and what steps are you/the board going to take to get us out of it.

Dowie & Parkinson were once in that bracket , it did not result in success.

With our recent run of form and on todays showing, that seems very unlikely. We look like a relegation team.

My god, and people moaned about Parkinson....
