  • They really should get someone to go to bluewater on a saturday and set up a stool outside marks and spencers and advertise the offer, that would hopfully get lots more people in!

I think this is a great offer, I already got 4 extra mates coming because of it so its all good :)
  • [cite]Posted By: carly burn[/cite]The tickets for schools was an excellent initiative. The £10 as long as you come with a season ticket holder not so good. Why not just charge everyone a tenner.
I think this latest idea will trump them both though. And it's hardly rocket science.

I thought it was a good initiative, given that it added me and one other on the gate, so there must have been others. Any way lets be pleased with any new initiative without feeling the need to slag off previous ones. Lets not forget that these initiatives do cost the club and we are now in a better position to fund them.
  • [cite]Posted By: MuttleyCAFC[/cite]The club has to offer Exeter the same deal as it's own fans - League rules.

Chelsea in the prem... charged em 40 quid a ticket!

It was my idea, actually. As was the Yeovil offer. But they are things that need to be agreed by the board because they are speculative and put at risk the income from the game. So they should get the credit (or the blame!).

The difference since the takeover is that we can take a few more risks and have a budget to help promote the offer. where we had none for the previous one. That's the difference between the financial position earlier in the season and now, or if you like between the board then and the board now. And of course having Peter on that board is great. But the idea we're all sitting around waiting for him or anyone else to tell us what to do is laughable, as he would tell you himself. He's been in Antigua for the last fortnight anyway.

As for the away fans, we could have charged them £25 under the rules if we wanted. But we didn't want as it would have been ridiculous.
  • Excellent work Airman. Must be a real breath of fresh air around the place. Is it true we've signed Bradley wright-phillips.
  • How can only charging a fiver cost us money? ( I guess the advertising costs etc) but surely more bums on seats means more revenue in the long run, especially in terms of food and drinks etc

Because your starting point isn't zero, it's the revenue you'd otherwise expect to get from selling the lower number of tickets at normal prices. The other kiosk, retail and programme numbers are factored in, but the profit - as opposed to the spend - isn't that significant. Say £1-£1.50 per extra person.

We need to sell about 4,000 extra tickets to make this pay before the extra cost of marketing.

On Kap's point, it's possible the financial position on this game would have been better with, say, £10 tickets. However, that's not the point of the exercise. This is about getting the maximum number of people in and then getting them to come back. In that respect £10 would only be a better price if the numbers were substantially the same. I think that's very unlikely.
  • We are cheap!

Lets hope it is true for the away fans
  • My 2 boys went on Saturday with the missus for the first time in 18 months.

They ALL (gawd) really enjoyed the day and now I've *got* to take them all (EVEN THE BL**DY MISSUS) to another game so the Exeter one is perfect.

    Keep being proactive Airman.
  • I've already got five people coming in addition to us 5 that regularly go. I reckon I could bring at least 10, maybe more to the game.

If everyone did this we would need a bigger stadium.

  • They should have an initative, say some kind of a reward for bringing some friends along? Bring 5 mates and get a free ticket?

I think £5 quid a ticket is the initiative. I would like to see us sell so many tickets that we out number Exeter in the Jimmy Seed Stand.
  • Great news!
  • Exeter should bring quite a few with their tickets being a fiver too! We wont get any of the Jimmy Seed. Really hope this pays off!
  • Im bringing at least two extra , could get up to 4
and exeter bought about a thousand last time so i would expect a little more , but not double as the novelty of the new stadium has worn off
  • Great initiative. Hats off to Airman and to the board. Hope its a great day with a good result and we get some of the day trippers hooked on Charlton.
  • Hat's off to Airman Brown. A Peter Varney disciple ! Excellent idea. well done and keep it up !

LOL! Suspect Airman is bristling at the very thought of being anyone's disciple.
  • You just know that even if we were to sell every single seat this board would be full of people complaining about "plastics" and the lack of "proper Charlton" . . .
  • Excellent idea, what with everything happening at the moment my bonce is spinning!! Supporting Charlton is never dull!!

  • shame it in't on Feb 14th. Could have saved even more money. "I've got a lovely surprise for you darling....!"

Hey, it's a win-win. If she likes football, you get her a ticket for the game. If she doesn't, you take her out for a meal on the Monday, thus ensuring a free pass from her to go out on the beer on the Saturday, having justified the cost of the beer by the saving on the ticket..
  • If I bring a mate who can upgrade my daughters season ticket will this still cost a fiver or will it be gratis as you usually get £5 off the matchday price.

    Yours, tightarse.
  • There are no upgrades for this game. Anyone can use any season ticket.
  • Excellent idea - the more of these we can afford the better. Can only be of benefit long term.

I dont careif I dont save on my season ticket v individual costs. I get it mainly for convenience (and help in getting away tickets etc). I expect many if not most are the same
  • One of mates brought me along to a £5 game donkeys years ago when I moved to London and I've more or less had a season ticket since, so it can pay off for the club

Is that right? OK for adult to use child ticket?
  • [quote][cite]Posted By: Airman Brown[/cite]Correct.[/quote]

    cool ... thanks :) just saved me £5 ...
will make sure i give it to the club though ... in bartrams probably ;)
  • Airman do you think our club will sell 4000 five pound tickets or more?.
