Well done the traget 40K peeps. Who is going to laugh ? no one in our league---not that many in the Chumps and a good few in the Prem cant gob off to us about attendances.
Its a target --------------better to have aimed and missed than not aimed all.
If we gave a shit about people laughing at us then we wouldnt be charlton we would be glory hunting twonks and follow the goonershit.

[cite]Posted By: razil[/cite]agreed, but I am talking before the big hike in sky money, could still be wrong tho
Valid point. I don't think we could have afforded that offer with the previous tv payments. As an aside, I believe the Prem money increased hugely the season after we went down and the Championship money rose significantly the season after we went down. Couldn't have picked a worse time to drop down the leagues.
I asked Ashtray the question why did it seem odd? He responded by posting something which actually is odd. I responded but by the wonders of modern mobile broadband technology, the bloody connection went and I lost my response. Things have moved on.
There is another thread about Palarses new Stadium proposal. They have just started to hold a dialogue with their fans after virtually nothing before, certainly not in Tangoman's time and I doubt there was any going back further.
On the other hand we have fans recommending/reviewing club ticketing policy in partnership with Directors, former directors and senior employees. The demise of the Supporter Director and Fans Forum are perhaps things to lament. but the club is light years ahead of Palarse and its other rivals in this area.

Seems the terms of reference for the committeeare very worthwhile and as posted on another thread I believe that any initiatives to fill The Valley must be based on a sensible ticket priceing policy. Just think the name target 40000 sounds a bit optomistic given our current situation. I know it's just a name but.....

Funnily enough I think Martin made the joke at the last meeting that maybe "we should re-name ourselves the target 20k committee" but it was just a joke. We all see the irony.
We won't have far off 20k on Saturday IMHO. It is optimistic and long term but isn't that what we all want? A slow but not too slow road back to the Champ then the Prem and 27,111 full houses by which time we can dust off the plans, find some money to build the stands and fill another 13k seats.
A long way off maybe but still important to get people and money in now to help Chris do his job of getting us there.
Wow, just revisited this thread to see, as usual, I've sparked some interesting dialogue (along with the ubiquitous 'ban 'im, he don't saund like i do' stuff). Maybe it's all in the name, but some of the personalities involved, for me, render this 'committee' dubious in its persistence.
Please consider that Goofy outfit at the children's hospice as a way to spend your disposible time.

If charlton fans want to meet up regularly and try And come up with ideas of getting more people interested in coming to watch charlton the surely that is a good thing? Perhaps the name 'Target 40000 sends out the wrong message given the fact we are In the 3rd division , but we do need to plan ahead , I wish the same level of thought was put into our management choices for the last 5 years , a bit of hindsight is a wonderful thing, any mug can be wise after the event, let's hope Chrissy P is given plenty of time by the fans and directors, to come good.

Sad thing is, he won't be and maybe target 18,000 would be appropriate, but those involved would see it as a backward step and an afront to their egoes.

And which self-appointed sad committee did you attend to formulate the opinion that Chrissy P would be given no leaway by either directors or fans?
They should target my area and its schools for new supporters, there is still a lot of interest there what with the Jonjo connection and apart from doing kids for a quid the likes of West Ham dont target schools and push promotions on them. They just think most will end up supporting them, it may surprise a few people that you can get to Charlton as quick as West Ham.

Quicker for me with the new road, is it the A12?.. All the way to the tunnel and that's only the 2nd traffic light I hit after leaving my house....

Where do you live Joe? you must mean the A13 thats hardly got any traffic lights but the A12 is full of them.
Given the information. (thanks Henry / Airman) of course it is laudable to pursue this line. We all want Charlton to grow. I still think the name "Target 40000" is suspect but that's just me. Can I please disassociate from the views of Ashtray whose point of view is a million miles from where I am.
as usual the good old banter begins, but i hope that end result of all this posturing is a committed bunch of fans that ALL want the same thing....Success! whether the Target 40,000 group name is appropriate or whether it should be called Target 'World Domination' is somewhat irrelevant. if the aim of these committed FEW, is the betterment of OUR club, let them get on with it.
firstly thanks for the compliments but I will say attending 3 or 4 meetings a year at the Valley is not really a huge commitment although trying to read airman's spreadsheets is ; - )
Uncle and Joe, if you can do the leg work at your end wendy and rick can supply tickets. Preferably a school or a football team or scouts etc with a recognised structure and leaders to bring the east end oiks and show them how to behave.
Same goes for the rest of you. Please don't wait for someone else. If we all bring one party to the valley each season that would make a huge difference.

Haven't Charlton got a supporters club that look at this sort of thing; advice on ST prices, Kent travel etc?
Interesting target.
What realistically do you believe is the Charlton "true" support? You know, those who are Charlton fans first & foremost?
I can't help but think, based on the way you infiltrated the schools in Kent in the 90's and had people going with no Charlton history or connection, that Target 40,000 would be made up of 20,000 Charlton and 20,000 "football" fans coming to simply watch football rather then the former 20,000 who have a connection and passion.
Or do you think you have 35,000+ "proper" Charlton who could be enticed back regularly to watch premiership football?
[cite]Posted By: nth london addick[/cite]Henners if I wanted to bring 18 players and 3 coaching staff to aid controlling them would that be possible and how would I go about approaching it.
brought 25 people from Joe's team last year and the year before. Mix of kids and adults so yes more than possible.

Still a vice president I believe and goes to games. Still involved with the Trust but not on the new board.
