Didn't one of them say that Peacock had been running them hard too? Would seem strange as Parky always claimed our squad was as fit as any in the division.
Might be a bit of a character test by Powell, try and sort the men from the boys.
one of things I like about Powells previous experience is that throughout his playing career and coaching career he has seen a lot of different styles.... and can draw on those time and time again...
I guess one thing a new Manager has to do is to change things noticeably in order to make his mark, and generate a need for extra effort from everybody. No one has pointed out yet that we now have a new Manager with whom we all have a great affinity which will make watching him progress even more interesting.
Dailly mentioned at a Q&A that Anyinsah had mentioned how hard the fitness training for him was when he joined and wondered if they hated him as they were running him so hard... Dailly said he told him it was because they liked him that they made them do all that running.

Trouble is, by that logic Steve Claridge should be the best manager in the world.
[cite]Posted By: JT[/cite]There was a lot of banter yesterday on there about Waggy getting pulled over by the Police in conncection with a bank robbery
Saw that. Apparently they are planning to honour it with a special goal celebration.

I hope that was on my recommendation to Matt Fry. Even if it wasnt i'm taking the credit.

[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Maybe says more about training at Liverpool than at Charlton.
;-)
reminds me of the amusing thread when people took as literal gospel a tweet from Jonjo about Charlton training being only shooting and five a side!!
From Shelvey's first Liverpool interview:
"Obviously it's a different lifestyle compared to being at Charlton. The training is harder.''
So if Liverpool have a tougher training regime than Parkinson and Powell has a tougher regime than Liverpool, our new manager is not only the nicest man in football, but inside his heart of gold there beats a work ethic of Stakhanovite steel...
What a perfect combination. Keep 'em at it, Chris!

Exactly, people read too much into what is a throw away comment from a player not intended as a public statement. It's a comment for his mates to read.

He's got over 17,000 Twitter followers - I'd say that makes it a bit of a public statement!
to be fair whether it's just for his mates or not, pretty much anything stuck on twitter/facebook etc is a 'public statement', whether intended or not
I sometimes wonder if with something like this, he's been told to write something along those lines, knowing full well it will appear on messageboards etc......all of a sudden the fans think 'great Powell's got em working hard etc etc'......or am I just reading to much into it

Good bit of PR for the player as his employers (Liverpool and Charlton) will see that as good attitude and that he's working hard.
Basically the polar opposite of me posting on Facebook "Another mind numbing, easy day in the office browsing Charlton Life and checking out the MILF from Marketing."
Then wondering why my boss calls me in to discuss his "concerns" over my performance and attitude the following morning.

I'm confused - this was also from JJ's first interview at LFC..........
In his first interview as a Liverpool player from the Reds' training base in Bad Ragaz, Shelvey said: "Being at Liverpool is what every kid dreams of. When I was in school and in the playground I used to pretend to be players like Steven Gerrard, so it's unreal to think I'll be training with these players day in and day out.
"At Charlton training was just shooting and five-a-sides and I was getting home at 1pm. At Liverpool we're not getting home till 2pm or 3pm and that's what I needed. I needed to be somewhere where I could learn about the game because it got to the point where I wasn't learning at Charlton. I'm glad to be around the best people you could possibly be around.
How is this just joking with his mates? But, whatever went on in the past, it sounds as though CP is following first day teacher bit - the 'I'm tough, don't mess with me routine'. Good stuff.

Keep it up Chrissie!!
So nothing new I dont think.

Certainly in the brain department...
Good point.
Didn't Jonjo think that Liverpool's training was harder than ours?

Maybe Sir Chris thinks they need more fitness work after Saturday?

Still hanging after today's session. Might stay in bed all day tomorrow.
