  • [cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]Just had a tip......... that a new manager will replace Peacock on Monday.

Really? Any ideas who? Might try get down the bookies.
  • I'm not gonna mention the position Parky left us in but it wasn't as strong as some may have suggested

Good point away from home , although 3 would have been nicer
But with a back 5 as shakey as that we're always liable to leak a few
And if we have to bring on kackpo to score we might as well give up in whatever game that is

The side is a bit stale and needs a lift , so hopefully some fresh faces arrive
As it stands right now before we've got any new players in I think we are
2% automatics 70% play offs and 28% SCP sort it out !

Well, I've got a mate who's well connected with people at The Valley.

But 'fraid I'm sworn to secrecy.
  • Fry played very well at CB in a game at The Valley and was dropped for the next game.

    He is not very tall.

Think we need a taller mobile CB and a goalkeeper with more control of the penalty area

Didn't go so can't comment on the performance but when did we last keep a clean sheet?
  • Not long back from the match

Very good start to the match. We dominated, grabbed our goals and then parked the bus for the last 20 minutes of the first half. All was going well, apart from the penalty, which was excellently saved by Robbie. Apart from that penalty (which was imo a foul in the box, rather than a clear goalscoring opportunity), we were defending comfortably up to half time.

Second half, they made subs and that had all the difference. They grabbed their goals, knocked our confidence and then they tried to push on. Anyinsah carved out a great chance for himself, but the chip went too long. We defended well, then from about 80-90 mins had our own chances. At the very end was some very tight defending, but Robbie made some great saves to win the point.

    1 point gained imo
  • Game was a bit lke the Spurs cup match. As soon as the tactics were changed by Wednesday, we started to back off and did our Keystone cops routine. But we didn't throw the towel in and really fought back when we could have been truly hammered. MOM first half Robbie or Oxo. Can't believe the change in Oxo. Everyone worked hard, and they all deserve some praise. Some fine blocks by Doc. Dailly needs to watch his wrestling though. Anyinsah all worn out after 45 mins. Ecclestone def. has a football brain. Didn't get a lot of time with the ball but he knows where he wants the ball put and seems quite composed. Collected the ball in the box with his back to goal, turned beautifully and took a shot. Got pushed off the ball a bit but works to get it back. I was quite impressed with him. Sodje poor. Francis started off well, but reverted to being Francis in the second half. Overall very pleased, some better coaching and a couple more players in, and I think we could make it. Not everyone is happy with the new manager and there were still quite a few that are upset over Parky. Interestingly, the anti-Parky supporters were the ones who were most unhappy with Chrissy. A few of us tried to spy Chrissy after the game but he had slipped out very promptly,
  • [cite]Posted By: steveBHA[/cite]I keep reading that we will fade away on here. Please let me know when it is suppose to happen lads.

    Brighton 3 Posh 1
Brighton won't fade away but I wish you would.

There does seem to be a hard core who will never be happy whatever is done.

    Human nature I guess.

that is interesting.so it's the parky apologists, that were so upset with his sacking that, in next to no time now say parky-who? and are in fact the same ones that henry feels he has to issue warnings of caution to,as heaven forbid that they ever got a bit excited that the club might now be able to put the crap of the last 5 years to bed at last, who can finally see a tiny bit of light at the end of the long tunnell, that have some belief that chris can in fact walk on water and that our troubles could possibly, just possibly now be behind us?

and it's the parky doubters you say that don't want scp either? oh,ok.

And a right back than can get near enough to cut out a cross
  • Overall pleased... good result...

Im blisterningly tired having gone to bed what seems like 10 mins ago...

Frances was supposed to have been very good today, maybe there is some potential there?

Not from where I was sitting. Not too bad coming forward but a shocking defender.
  • Threadkiller, even for you an amazing twisting of what I said. Please stop peddling the lie that I ever said that people shouldn't be excited or happy as I never have and never will. Normally you are one of the first to shout rose tinted at anyone trying to take some joy in following the club so come out with all this crap now.

You managed to totally misread what SA said as well but since robbie saved a pen you need to find something else to whinge about.
  • On the plus side SCP is/was a defender himself so he should have plenty to work on and new ideas for tightening up the defence, which has got to be a priority for me. I really don't think the team needs a radical overhaul at all, just a few modifications.
  • very tedious of you as usual henry in presumung something so ridiculous.i'm delighted that robbie saved the penalty,i want him to keep clean sheets every week. listening to the commentary robbie was doing a lot of things well in the first half, things that i find to be weak in his game and thought to myself, good luck to him and that ben roberts may have been working very well together.

as for peddling some lie, drama queen alert. i found oaksters assessment quite true though.

Leicester had a tight defence in this division, and again last season a division above, but there were some who said they had leaked too many goals this season so far. There's good and bad in that, just putting it out there.

Robbie had a good game imo. Made a lot of good saves, and the penalty save was especially good. Kicked the ball out of play a bit, but I don't mind that as much if he's making the saves
  • Great start, pretty decent first half overall. Passed it around fairly well, players looked more composed on the ball with less long balls forward.

Second half Wednesday stepped it up, closed us down better and they were the ones that looked calm on the ball. Great penalty save from Elliot.

Disappointing to lose a 2 goal lead. Anyinsah should have done better with his chance. Wednesday probably disappointed they didn't win as well.

Fair result for two teams of similar quality. We've taken 4 points from them this season which is I'm happy with.

Nice to have another option up front in Eccleston. Too early to predict how good he might be for us.

On Elliot's kicks going out of play, Kiely was interviewed for Charlton Live recently and said he aimed his kicks to the wide areas. Peacock clearly trying the same thing with Elliot's. I think the idea was if you don't win the ball the opposition won't have the ball down the middle in a dangerous area. Even more important when playing Anyinsah and Wagstaff up front, neither who are strong in the air.

Looking forward to Saturday now. Will be interesting to see Powell's team selection.

  • SW completed the signing of Gary Madine today from Carlisle.

They've really strengthened in the window with their four signings so far.

I'd like to think we'll be doing the same in the coming fortnight.
  • All us in the 1st half all them on the 2nd, I would have been happy with a point going into the game but having been 2 up it was frustrating to only get the 1 point and drop to 7th, still at least we didn't lose and we have games in hand! We need to add to our defence I think (and fast).
  • Jesus - and greeting from Barbados. Thought we were 5 hours behind UK, and were only 4. My son was at the game and texted me at ( what I thought ) was 4.30pm UK to say were 2-0 up .....Of course ie was 3.30pm UK. His phone run out of juice, so no more info. Then a mate texted me at what I thought was 5pm UK, of course, it was 4pm. His first text was "should have given it to Peacock'. Then, 10 minutes later, he texted " spoke too soon"...............Was already celebrating a win when I found out we were 2-2 with 20 mins to go!!!!!!!!
    Happy Days.................

What a pathetic attempt of a clearence from Gary Doherty for their first goal
  • Highlights confirmed a couple of things for me

    Their penalty was very soft
Their first goal had suspicions of handball (ironic, considering how much their fans shouted for handball when it was 2-2)

For anyone interested, Anyinsah's miss which would've put us 3-1 up was like Cody McDonald's chipped miss for Gillingham. He didn't have to chip it, but I understand why he did.

I'm too tired to watch it again, but I thought both at the time

Pity no one texted in about Chrissy's appointment, but Claridge said he'd have his fingers crossed for him.

But they did just get 1.2m for Tudgay from Forest. How much did Madine cost ?

True though I am of the understanding that the fee for Tudgay was a lot less than that... "undisclosed" along with the "undisclosed" fee for Mark Reynolds who is a very good defender from Motherwell. Three defenders added to what was a very porous defence and a replacement for Tudgay with a big future in the football league - not bad business
  • Are the BBC in penalty save denial? Their web report makes no mention of it and last night's highlights programme didn't show it. Is everyone sure it actually happened or was it not deemed important enough to mention?! At what point in the game did it happen?

they did show the save, but didn't show the 2 footed lunge from their centre back on Wagstaff that looked like a straight red but didn't even get a free kick! thought they'd mention the wednesday player having a going at the crowd also
  • Ovarell slightly disapointed but a point at wednesday isn't bad.
Great save by Eliot but at times defending was poor.
Hopefully get a cb in january
