Another "you'd take that before the game" result. Still shame we can't hang on to a lead but let's move on into the Powelly era. Need to start taking maximum hauls now.

Out of play-off positions. :-(

  • text from my son: keith peacock came up to cafc fans, dropped his coat on pitch and bowed to them ... classy man
  • A good start to the Powell era, but by the sounds of it we need to get some defensive replacements in PDQ. Hopefully CP will make that a priority this week.
  • Shame Aniyinsah couldn't take his chance when it was 2-1, could have turned the game, all in all seemed to do well to hold on. Such a precarious lead being 2 up.
  • Happy with the result. Just need to start winning and get back towards 2nd place... starting next week at The Valley! Perhaps we could bring in a quick CB before the end of the month and perhaps another RB?
  • i think a draw away to a team as good as sheff weds is a bloody good point, shame because we gave ourselves a great start.

cant wait for saturday, be an interesting week ahead and i reckon there will be players coming in after today

    well done boys

thank you keith peacock you are a real legend
  • Not a bad result afterall I guess. Defence needs sorting out bigtime.
  • What a sham to throw away a 2 goal lead............POWELL OUT!!!! :-0
  • Thought the Powell era starts Monday

I'll echo that ...... thank you Keith Peacock.

  • yep it does

hopefully peacock will be given time to resign before they sack him ;-)
  • Didn't expect a point from this one so all good.

Our problems are at home. We need to start winning.
  • From the sounds of it, in the words of Chris Kamara we defended like beavers in that second half!Very good point in the end because they were all over us!Good to see we were making positive substitutions in the second half while on the back foot!Well done Keith and Damian, two very credible performances to pass on to Sir Chris, couldnt have asked for any more!
  • I would have taken the draw before the game. Sheff Wed are a decent team. Always a shame when you go ahead, especially by 2...but how many times has that happened over the last couple of years. Our defence needs strengthening quickly and I am sure the game has given Powell a real understanding of both our strong and weak points.

Glad we hopefully now have the ability to bring players in and a new fresh outlook because we are now closer to Yeovil in the relegation zone than to Brigthon at the top of the table!

Spot on. From here on in we probably need to win nigh on every home game and we definitely can't afford to lose another if we are serious.
  • wednesday came out a different side after being roundly booed by the whole of hillsborough at half time.

i'm certainly very happy with taking a point up there.
  • They have a good home record, it's going away that has let them down... near polar opposites to us
  • A point away to a good team is no shame and would have been happily taken before the game.
Just the same frailties too often, especially after such a good start.

Ah well onwards and upwards as of Monday.

Ecclestone and Anyinsah together at home should mske a difference. Concerned about the amount of goals we are shipping 13 in four games.
  • Dissappointing to let them back into it after such a good start, thought the penalty save would have knocked em for six, but hats off to their manager. He made 2 subs at HT and within 10 mins they'd both scored. We need to remember that they're a team that have just come down and like us, are a big club for this division and only 1 point behind us. To go there and get a draw is not a bad result considering the lack of confidence our players have been showing lately. Let's hope that things start to progress from this point and CP is given a few quid to bring in some fresh players to add to the squad, by god, we need them!

  • We got off to a great start with good tempo ......taking the game to them.
    And 2 quick goals.

Robbie brilliantly saved a penalty, but we conceded 2 goals in 4 minutes - yet should have made it 3-1 inbetween.
Afterwards Wednesday created plenty of chances but Charlton dug in resiliantly for that point.

Disappointing to lose a 2-0 lead, but good character and resiliance shown.

Overall happy with 1 point - Hillsborough, biggish crowd, difficult place to get a result.
Don't forget Wednesday won 3-0 at Championship Bristol City last weekend, so don't underestimate our result today.
  • Good result in the end.

I said after Swindon that we need a decent defensive coach. We are shipping goals at the moment and therefore it is imperative to shore up our defence. I just think that Dailly and Docherty as a pairing is just too old and slow. Clearly Fortune is passed his sellby as well so I think we have to sign somebody in that are asap.
  • I predicted a draw, so not disappointed really. Pity we couldnt hold on to the two goal lead, but they did to us what we did to them in the first half and came out in first 10 minutes really fired up.
Both sides had chances to win it in the 2nd half - Anyinsah and Sodje missed a good chance each and Wed hit the post twice. Ecclestone sounded lively when he came on, and again according to the commentary it sounded as though Francis had a good game.
Powelly will, I'm sure, bring in a couple of players during this week and with his and Jimmenz's connections we may get some good quality, even if only on loan.
Sounded as though we had the fortitude and passion so sadly missing recently, I am hopeful we can now push on and get back up towards the top two places.
Be interesting to read what those that went thought of the game.....bring on next week.....cant get there, but will be there in spirit (and here in person doing updates for those who also cant get there).
  • Mobile CB with some pace is a must.

Well if the soul destroying negative crowd behaviour transforms into an uplifting atmosphere, it could make all the difference.

You are not allowed to say that on Charlton Life ....!

    ;o)
  • [cite]Posted By: Clem_Snide[/cite]Mobile CB with some pace is a must.

    Definitely, that's priority number 1

We also need to sort out Fry's loan properly, staying until Feb is not good enough

Someone who can carry the ball in central midfield

Perhaps a striker if one moves on

Also, if Martin goes that leaves us short of cover out wide

Oops sorry......I'll re-phrase - the person who played at RB sounded as though he/she did ok!!

    Is that better???? LOL ;0)
  • yet again we cant hold onto a substantial lead, its starting to worry me!
