It was kind of Modric to remind us that one man doesn't make a football team! But a good day out and everyone in the squad lifted their game, Racon and Semedo stood out for me. I wish that the Yid Army had felt the need to show us some respect by making a noise, but nevertheless it felt good to be amongst noisy Charlton supporters. What a weird week it's been.
Morning peeps, I've got a sore head this morning. I blame AFKA, Carter & Co.
Anyhow, without meaning to sound patronising, well done yesterday. Your team didnt embarass you and its nice to see you turn up and sing (unlike the last time you came to WHL!) You done your players proud yesterday.
Thought you was well organised 1st half. Think we contributed to a dull first half by playing two defensive midfielders in Palacios and Sandro and it was crying out for the invention of Modric. He certainly didnt let us down when he came on for his cameo. In my opinion, he's the best centre-midfielder we've had at the club since Hoddle and Gazza. Another thing that puzzled me. Townsend spent all his time on loan at Yeovil and Ipswich playing on the left-side of midfield. Krancjar has only got a right foot...so why on earth did Harry play Townsend on the right and Krancjar on the left.
2nd half, Modric turned it on. You had a half-chance a couple of mins after the 1st goal...if you'd scored then, that may have changed the game again. Thought Dailly done well at the back, especially first half when he threw himself in to make a couple of terrific last-ditch blocks from Defoe and Pavlyuchenko. Pav was back to his normal anonymous best I must say.
With regards to the atmosphere, it was bloody awful yesterday. Dont think anyone wanted to be there yesterday. To be fair though, just talking about the people around me in Block 32 (by the corner flag opposite you lot)...normally I'm in with a group of what I would call hard-core dedicated season-ticket holders for the Premier League and European games. Yesterday, I would say 80% of those hadnt bothered going and were replaced with a mixture of those visiting WHL for the first time, the older generation and those that dont sing. It was so obvious to me as we had two pre-pubescent yids screaming abuse at Rob Elliott for wearing a pink goalkeeping top and tried to start singing "does Sol Campbell know you're here?" After a couple of mins of listening to that tripe, I actually told them to give it a rest. Blimey, the stewards were even telling us to sit down yesterday. That really didnt help either. Come next Sunday for the Man Utd game WHL will be absolutely rocking again. I dont think you can blame the Spurs supporters for not really getting too excited about playing you lot.
Nice to see Doherty get a good reception when he came over to the corner of the Park Lane/Shelf at the end.
Oh...and your bouncy bouncy thing looks very good from afar.
If you play like you did yesterday for the rest of the season, I would have thought you'd be pushing for promotion.
Great day out ... one of the best for ages ... I have a headache and no voice today but it was worth it.
Good commitment and passion from the team and, as NLA pointed out earlier, Semedo very choked and looks like he loves playing for us.
I was at the back of the South West corner and the noise was great ... also good to see the 'bouncy bouncy' from a side view ... very impressive.
Fans around me didn't stop singing all game ... most were younger fans from J Block Covered End and very respectful both to Keith Peacock and Parky ... kudos to them all ... it was great to stand and sing with you.
Enjoyable game with good football from both teams. Interesting system, especially late on when it was more a Xmas tree (Reid and Wagstaff playing much narrower off of the front man). Tactically very astute for yesterday's game but whether it would work against teams who deny space remains to be seen. All of the players had good moments and can be pleased that they contributed to a watchable match. Nice to see some shots on target and to see an inch perfect through ball from Reid (imagine if Defoe had been on the end of that instead of Sodje!). Just for a second I thought we were back in the Premier League! Decisions for the next game...is time to play Anyinsah and Sodje together (pace and power) and leave Benson on the bench? Will the new manager trust Reid in a four man mid-field or will a forward need to sacrificed to accomodate him? Or will we try a new Xmas approach without wingers?
Typical big away crowd Charlton support - plenty of singing but about three or four songs going on at any one time and only rarely did everyone seem to be singing the same thing!
[cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]feck me I must have watched a different game becoz every cross Francis made was shit.Semedo was class,Joe played well up front on his own as well.
It's exactly the same post game as any other game he has played this season, got forward well but final ball was abysmal.
Wish I had a penny for everytime that has been said on here this season.
To be absolutely honest, was proud of the way we played, but the two goals Defoe scored were very weak, very bad defensively shut him down early instead of giving the traitor respect to wriggle and turn we probably only went down by the Townsend goal. Personally do not care what anyone else thinks on the matter. I'm Right. Fkg Spurs or not.

good support and Semedo was immense.

Nothing about how well we played
Yes. He still has 2 more matches I believe.
Played our part in an entertaining game would have nice if we stuck one away but never mind.
Dawson is a awesome centre half and very good leader.
JS played his best game in ages but then they all played there part.
Support was a bit disjointed as i was in the lower towards the back couldnt really hear the upper tier.
Back to the phoenix after and some good banter rounded the day of nicely
Sick of reading about peoples opinions on here yet they know nowt about players who play for teams in our league.
Wise in.
Yeah righto.
sorry statto, must get my programme and read it back to front before i offer up any more opinions.
Haha!
