Why would Wise be a bad choice as the next manager...

  • Id rather Morcambe and Wise than Dennis. I cant see us as a fan base wholly ever having any real affitinity with him.

Other rogues such as Roy Keane and even Robbie Savage at least have a bit of charm. For me whilst I dont think he's Bin Laden I put him in the same category as Lee Bowyer and Joey Barton ie lacking any charisma to even go anywhere near balancing out their wrong doings.

If he was appointed it would be similar to getting behind any of polictical parties we have ie charmless tossers but dont have much say in it in the immediate future and just have to get behind them and be successful even though you feel dirty doing it!
  • Charming Robbie Savage!

    Do me a favour.
  • In his own odd way Carly. Would have loved him playing for us and giving us that bite weve lacked since parker as much as ive harrassed him when he's played against us.

Wouldnt say the same about Wise who was probably a similar but better player.
  • "Why would Wise be a bad choice as the next manager..."

Same reason Noddy wears a hat with a bell on.
  • Not sure why, but for what it's worth, I don't believe that DW is in the frame.

The new owners have said as much - why don't we trust them ? Surely their relationship with us, the supporters has got to be high on their agenda in that it's agreed bringing back ex regulars is one of their main goals....so maintaining the trust and support of those who've remained loyal must definitely be of paramount importance. IMHO of course.

After spending a lot of time on here today, mainly playing catch up , I've decided I'm in the camp of those who feel there is really BIG money available to us now, and as a result, we're in for a proven, "big name" manager.

As a fellow supporter has said today, if Wise was earmarked as the next incumbent, why not bring him in immediately ? He feels it's going to be someone currently in a managerial post at a club not too far away from SE7 ..who needs to sort out his present situation before committing to us.

Obviously, that could point to Poyet if he was influenced by the amount of money to spend , or possibly Warnock ?

'Nuff said. Back to the wine bottle.....
  • Only reason im still concerned wise is in the frame is because the Spurs game would be as a baptism of fire for a new man.

Once the game is out the way and a working day or 2 has past without him being unveiled ill relax a bit.

Itll probably be academic then after super peakie masterminds his demolition of Harry's lot.

I reckon he's going to be appointed next week! Just a sneaking suspicion that's all...........
  • I hope not oakster. It would be the equivalent of spending a dirty weekend with Kelly Brook and Katie Perry then finding out on your way into work on a cold, dark monday morning one of them has given you the clap .
  • I'd take that Rodders

Me too, very small price to pay.

Wise/Hoddle or a Wise/Clarke combo I reckon - could be Hoddle Director of Football, Wise manager............

[cite]Posted By: seth plum[/cite]I work with an ex-pro, now a semi pro footballer who when he started out used to clean Wise' boots. My colleague played in central defence over 50 times for Millwall, and having known him for 4 years I know my colleague is a good bloke, and has a brain too. He reckons Wise doesn't need a job for money, he also reckons Wise is limited in coaching, and managerial ability, and that if Wise wanted our job it would be mainly to be the centre of attention.
Judging by this thread Wise must already be enjoying all the attention he is getting.

    Hmmmm, is that JD?

    Yes

I liked him. Saw him make his debut with us, saw him get better and improve, gave it 100%, wasn't no Beckenbauer but was doing a good job. Was a shame his career ended so early. Still, if I remember correctly he did play in the AWS final at Wembley in 1999, not a bad achievement to make in a short career.

Do we really need a "Director of Football", its just another glammed up position that is a drain on the finances, this is where it all goes tits up, lets stick to a manager, a coach and a board of directors who back them both.
  • just heard whether it's true or not Wise has been offered a 3 year contract

    Oh dear, if true.
Is this the end of 'family club' Charlton?
  • so NSS you are saying you have heard that it is not Wise/
  • I think I've just found my Charlton breaking point.

  • oh well, will not shout abuse but will not applaud him when he walks out onto the pitch if true. I feel like the spuds must have when Graham went there, although he had a proven track record

You will be pleased to know he is proud to have been a Millwaller, and remains a bit of a fan....but like all footballers being a fan is a bit different to the way the rest of us view our supporting and our clubs. JD is a family man now, and an all round good bloke, and forging a new an successful career, but it is still related to football.
  • Maybe HE'd like to be our manager?

I think like any player, if they tried hard and the fans like them, they'll retain a soft spot for the team. He was in one of the most exciting young teams we've ever had, he must have a few stories and great memories.

would that be an exciting young team that Wise was manager of?
