glad I'm not the only one seeing this as an over reaction - I don't see that he has done anything wrong in going out for a meal or for tweeting (not that I really see the point of tweeting but that'll be my age)
[cite]Posted By: MrLargo[/cite]Personally I don't think he should be publicising the fact that he took his wife up the OXO Tower. That's nobody's business but his own. ; - )
Overreaction from fans ? are you sure ?? nooooooo that would have been to turn up at the OXO Tower and twat him with a soup ladle. Talking about it on an inter net forum isnt really in that league.
Easy to look at this thread now and think 'over reaction', but i know without being a reactionary sort of bloke reading his comments just a couple of hours after a dire, demoralising home defeat (that ultimately cost the manager his job), one of the players (who incidently had a shocker) i found particularly inapproriate.
Got no problems whatsoever a player taking his bird our for a nice dinner. I do have a problem with the lack of sensitivity in said player broadcasting to the world how good the expensive red wine is in an expensive restaurant while most of us are still kicking the cat.
He made a mistake and used a networking platform inappropriately. Not a massive deal, but it hurts as a fan when you get reminded how some players look on defeats very differently to how some supporters do.
Likewise, I tend not to overreact on this kind of thing either - but it was very, very ill-judged thing to do, and to discuss it on a similar style of communication mode, such as an internet forum, is completely appropriate, and not remotely an over reaction.
As for Kingston - we needed to pull together long, long ago. closing this thread doesn't strike me as being the answer. Putting all the 'Thank you Parky' posters in one area of the ground, and shooting the rest, now THAT would be a good start... (smiley emoticon here)
Just demonstrates how bone headed a lot of professional footballers are.
I among others contribute towards him 'earning' the money to dine out up towers. He knows fans follow what he has to say on a social network and a lot of those fans would have been fuming after the shower of cack that was served to us.
And i for one do not care that people who get paid to play football have to work over the festive period. One of my mates has spent nine out of the last ten years doing guard duty, a patrol or some other british army bullcrap. You sacrifice things like that for what? Ten years? I worked all over Christmas too and have a good thirty years of doing the same to look forward to.
I like goonerhaters suggestion of an overreaction! Maybe someone who paid to watch the dirge that sooper al was a part of could have twatted the tweeter over dinner.
mcormack is a useless no good flash no wonder southend went down with him and his mate francis playing for them, and then we think its a good idea to sign them.
I had the Gnocchi, Duck and Baked Alaska when I went, along with two bottles of Pinot Grigio. With the lady's meal, the bill came to just south of £160. It wasn't worth a tenth of that. So event though McCormack an overpaid, ill-mannered, dozy twonk - he at least has my sympathies re: the bill. Of course, the fact that it's so f***ing expensive makes the fact that we paid for it all the more galling.
Haven't read all of the posts on here, but think I've got the pulse of what the majority seem to feel. I am reminded of a story that Magic Johnson told of the first game of his rookie reason (my memory could be playing tricks, but the point is sound). He told a story about throwing a pass in to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who hit a skyhook to beat the Celtics at the buzzer. He talked about how he was excitedly jumping around, hugging Kareem and carrying on having won the game. He then told of going into the locker room, and being spoken to by Kareem:
"Earvin (he always called me Earvin), you need to remember that we have 81 games left to play this season."
As he recounted the story, he demonstrated that his eyes got really big, he got very quiet, felt put in his place, and apologized.
I think that as fans, we sometimes get caught up in our pride of the shirt, and forget that this is their job. I have no doubt that lots of employers profess not understanding why their staff don't feel invested in their jobs to the extent that they should. Players can't possibly feel every defeat (nor every victory) with the same outpouring of emotion as a fan and still be in a position to perform the next time out. I am not excusing his comments, which were certainly ill-advised, particularly in public (I love twitter and the insight into people that it facilitates), but from where I sit, as a professional, life goes on and there will be another match. They are all worth 3 points.
I'm geographically (and as a result, somewhat emotionally) removed from the situation, but did watch a live stream of the unmitigated shite shower. I can't claim to have as much invested as those of you who hold season tickets, and certainly don't begrudge you your feelings (which I do think you're entitled to) but those were my thoughts, reading some of the comments above.
[cite]Posted By: creepyaddick[/cite]Did you hear about the Aldershot player that was booed off, he tweeted that he wished the booers would die!
Nice fellow!
Complete over-reaction. I agree with the realists... after a disapointing performance he's taken his wife out for dinner on their anniversary... It's not her fault. Yes insensitive but I for one know how easy it is to tweet things after a bottle of red without thinking. If having a bottle of wine with his misses on their anniversary cheers him up then fair play. I would've done the same if I could afford it. Hardly sticking his fingers up. How about we all start getting behind our boys. This thread seems like another delibirate attack to make our fans hate our players - What's that going to solve? This thread seems a lot more damaging and spiteful than his tweets.

Yep, that was my intention. I want everyone to hate our players. I want to MAKE everyone hate them. Clearly.
And you say you "agree with the realists". What's the weather like their in cloud cuckoo land?
(Ps. By the way, well done for bringing it back to the top of the board - you clearly enjoy doing my "work" for me!)

Is there a "Marmite" Tower for Us Veggies ?
He is lacking games and I understand why he did not play well, before now he has been good. Another overreaction by cafc fans once again.
When?

holier than thou
Exactly.
All this muck raking is not going to do anybody any good.
McCormack doesn't come across as the brightest spark, but what he does in his private time is his own business.
Hahahaha (I don't do LOL).
Mac was the one who made it public, so he should have thought of that before he tweeted it, shouldn't he?
