Agree totally, the key word is MOVEMENT or more to the point, lack of it. At home we open up more as teams do and opponents cut out the space in the final third for our front men. Because there is little pace or movement, this is not too much of a challenge for defenders. We punt the balls up becasue the simple balls are not on because the space has not been found or won. Away this is less of an issue as we set out to be solid and opponents are more open but we really need players like Anyinsah and a fit Sodje at home to make life a bit more difficult for opposing defenders. Benson looks terrible unless he has Anyinsah playing next to him and Supaclive has got this spot on.
Parky is wrong to cite a lack of effort, it is abbout the balance of the side. Benson is a poacher who is at his best when we unsettle sides. Martin is a show pony with no end product or football brain. The midfiled and widemen will look so much better if they have out balls - at the moment the team gets bogged down at the VAlley when it gets into the final third. Sort this out and we can turn this round. If Anyinsah is not going to be fit for long enough (As he is exactly the type of player that transforms the dynamic) we need to bring somebody in who is. Sodje needs to be used as a weapon at home when he is fully back to fitness also.
[cite]Posted By: BigRedEvil[/cite]I've been all for giving Parky time in the past but it's running thin, same problems game after game. Going to The Valley is so predictable we never outplay or dominate a game and let's be honest it isn't that enjoyable anymore.
Tactics all over the place today, another shocking home performance only difference we now have some money to do something
But do we have money to buy some proper players ? or just enough money to keep the club afloat?
Time will tell i guess
There are countless teams above us in this division and the next who play far better football and win far more home matches than us and have lower wage bills. Lets stop making excuses and being level headed devils advocate wishy washy knobheads. Lets get him out and get this bloody club moving in the right direction again. He's a third rate manager, with a third rate squad in place just because of circumstances. Those circumstances have changed now - The new owners are in so lets get on with it and get some quality back down there because we all know that we are currently shite with a shite squad and a shite managment team.
[cite]Posted By: stop shouting[/cite]Somebody mentioned lee martin was a palace fan but I take that heat of the moment comment back.
I think its something to do with the fact that his family are from that area but never heard anything regarding him being a fan of them. Since when do people these days support their local team? ........apart from us idiots of course :-/

not surprised - he's got that feeble, step over disco boy approach i'd expect from someone who comes from croydon - bet he's into dance troops and r & b - he's a spindly waste of space and he should be sent back sharpish.
Pathetic performance. In possession any limited movement we made off the ball was at walking pace, we never had the opportunity to play any clever short balls because they always had far too much time to cover all the options. In defence, too many opposition allowed to run into out box unmarked - when they attacked us it really did look like they had two men spare. In 50/50s, not enough speed and/or desire to make the ball ours.
Flipping eck, McCormack is this weeks scapegoat, didn't play well but was just as anonymous as anyone else and with a lack of match fitness to go with it. In fact he was probably the only midfielder out of Semedo and Racon who actually moved forward with the ball on occasions. Wouldn't mind seeing him get a run in the team and get some match fitness and consistency, what harm can it do.
We arn't the team for Benson, you can tell he is the right player in the right scenario but feel so sorry for him because he's being used as a target man. Would like to see him paired with Abbott for a few games and play off him.
Martin, lots of running, no end product. Would like to see him dropped for Abbott.
Dailly well off the boil, difficult to criticise him though with the amount of points he has saved us this season. One positive of last night was Jon Fortune, seemed to be solid and not do much wrong. Jackson is a complete waste at left back as already said. Francis didn't manage to get forward last night which is usually the only positive to his game. Could definately do with a couple of full backs for competition this month.
Thoughts after the dust settles... First half, thought Racon looked OK, as did Martin. Reid OK for first 20 mins. Dailly tried to push things on. Rest not worth thier place. We were fortunate to score. Second half, after Parky's 'mogodon' teamtalk it was so bad it was laughable, as we all did when Pawel went through and was so surprised he missed the ball, oh how I laughed! How this bloke gets away with masquerading as a footballer is beyond me, ditto Francis, McCormack. To be fair to Benson, he was not played to his strengths, so to Parky, how far wrong did he get it? I cant even be bothered to type all my thoughts on his 'tactics'. 4-5-1 at home is too defensive, we should have been more offensive. I just hope Spurs put out the Under 14's against us, at least they wont win the ball at set pieces...er...or..maybe not!! Its gonna be a horror show.
Saw the match again on sky plus and it did not seem any better.
If anything Kiely's remarks were more negative than my own opinion of the first half!
The punting up of the ball to Benson, seems to be Parkinson's main tactical attack plan, but it just does not work!.
When he does get the ball it often goes to the other side!. I will not say anymore about the player I really do not enjoy digging Charlton players out, and the guy I am sure tries his best, but that is the worrying thing!
If the centre half is that age, he will be one hell of a lump. Charlie Austin (ridiculous taunting) did a good job, as much as it pains me to say so!. ( he looked onside to me! for the disallowed goal.... )
I do remember the game from last season at home and they outmuscled us then!.
In the end we gambled with Wagstaff and Sodje/Abbott and it did not come off, in fact we looked worse, nervous and unbalanced, even more as time went on.
Coming on the Walsall game, the manager has to take a cold hard look at his tactics!

Because Martin was playing more or less a free role, there was rarely cover for Francis defensively.
Obviously he wasn't going to risk going forward, leaving his defensive position exposed.
Normally this season, Wagstaff does the covering and tracking to enable Francis to overlap.
Somebody has to work in front of the fullback in any team.
For what it's worth, last night I thought Francis was reasonably defensively sound but distribution inconsistant.

Was it not his poor attempt at a clearance that led to their equaliser? And Martin was playing off Benson, still 4 across midfield, saw McCormack and Reid both covering Francis at times. I'm not trying to make him scapegoat and jump on the bandwagon, just commenting on what I saw.
If we have players that can't do the basics ie control a football without having to chase 3 yards for the second touch then we are going to struggle. You can't get away with that on a Sunday morning, why were the passes hit either into the air for Swindon to win, to a players feet who couldn't controll it or into touch. These are basics that a coach is responsible for he should have gone after Brighton he has to go now.

Just like we punted the ball up to big chris, mooney and gray.
Maybe we should just play with nobody up front, Scotland style, that might stop the players ignoring parkys brilliant passing tactics.
In my opinion, Francis is an average Third Division footballer...... but that's the division we play in.
Whenever I've seen Francis he's defensively competant most of the time - but naturally there will be times when something doesn't come off for him. The same applies to any footballer, even at Premiership level, doesn't it?
The Swindon equaliser wasn't just Francis' fault, there were other players after him just as culpable.
But they've not been scapegoated, have they?
I don't think he is an awsome talent - just that he wouldn't be high on my list of what needs fixing in the team. He always seems involved in games, has good delivery from corners, variable pass quality, solid dfender usually and does have height which I like across the defence.
