Utterly depressing, Swindon turned up ripe for getting turned over but our gutless, guileless approach allowed them to gain confidence and end up mullering us.
I used to get angry about performances like this, now I just sit there in dejected silence waiting for the ref to blow up so I can get home and try and salvage some enjoyment from my evening. I cant remember a season were I've been so consistently bored at home games.
The new owners would do well to take note of the number of season ticket holder stayaways and early leavers, if this carries on they might not be back next season.
Agree with most of what has been said so far. A couple of points to make; Quoting Slater in TNS interview he says that Wise has not been considered for a MANAGERIAL role. Very careful choice of words - he MUST be advising in a non-managerial role therefore(at least for the moment!). Why all the negativity about Wise? I hate Millwall as much as the next man, but at least Wise would earn the respect of the players. Anyway Wise is n't really Millwall anyway. I bet he's still more mobile than McCormack even now! Agree with 1984 above, I've been a fan for 30 years and only have just stopped going regularly along with numerous others that I know. Parkinson's football is killing us....
[quote][cite]Posted By: charleton[/cite]Stop shouting - why is Martin a Palace C**t? Might not have had a good game but that is a real random comment[/quote]
I think there was another Lee Martin who was a Palace player?
Mind you Palace is one of a few clubs he hasn't yet played for.
1. What was our formation tonight? If it was 4-3-3 then why was Benson left alone up-front on his own against two larger CBs? I did see him win a couple of headers and he got a shot in, but the service he got was poor.
2. McCormack - why was he on the pitch tonight? What role was he playing?
3. Reid and Martin - playing wide and had very little support from their full backs, Jackson and Francis (the latter in particular) didn't over-lap.
4. Their first goal - why were we outnumbered in the box? Who was looking for a knock-down/flick on? Elliot did well to stop the first shot but an alert defence would have played and looked for a loose ball.
5. Swindon were playing 4-5-1, so why weren't Dailly and Fortune (who played well) simply marking Austin out of the game? Just as their CB's marked Benson out of the game?
[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]i thought austin was doing the sprinkler celebration but i suppose as touchy charlton fans he was basically taking his clothes off fondling himself and spraying his juices all over us
as for whoever posted they're going out for a meal at the fucking oxo tower, so what if you're weird enough to be on twitter reading that drivel why be bothered to be offended by him going out for a meal , wtf do you want him to say , i'm going home to take a gun to my family and friends cos we've just lost a game of football perleeease as wank as he is live and let live you weirdos
agreed, but (mcormack) he's still a useless wanker
Dailly is too slow to man mark. Although he's been one of oour most consistant players, he's been sent off twice this season and that was a shocker today. I'd prefer a captain that insipres a la Kinsella or Webster...
[cite]Posted By: BlackForestReds[/cite]5. Swindon were playing 4-5-1, so why weren't Dailly and Fortune (who played well) simply marking Austin out of the game? Just as their CB's marked Benson out of the game?
Austin has really bulked up since last season and simply outmuscled our players. Forch struggled with his physical presence at times and Dailly with his pace.
Morrison (their centre half who got the 3rd goal) is 19 apparently!! Why can't we produce imposing physical specimens like him? We seem to produce weedy little players.
Yep but Austin is a L1 player, albeit on the way to a better club, nevertheless he isn't superman. Get one player man-marking him and the other getting in front of him and disrupting him.
maybe he's going to the globe after? sounded a bit theatrical 'London, cheered me slightly' or something like that. wouldn't be surprised if hiswife doesn't put a strap on tonight and takes him up the oxo tunnel - bottle job mincing tackle dodger. and if abbot aint an oxo stuffer...
Considering we have new owners and the transfer window has just opened you'd think the manager and players would be keen to put on a show for their new bosses.

Well, Len ......we've got 19 year old Mr Man Mountain Mambo. But whether he's ready is another matter.

I've been all for giving Parky time in the past but it's running thin, same problems game after game. Going to The Valley is so predictable we never outplay or dominate a game and let's be honest it isn't that enjoyable anymore.
Tactics all over the place today, another shocking home performance only difference we now have some money to do something

But do we have money to buy some proper players ? or just enough money to keep the club afloat?
Good fullbacks are crucial to a team's performance and, as long as Solley is injured, we haven't got one, and this exposes the deficiencies of our otherwise ok centre backs. Using Jackson at FB deprives us of his presence in midfield, where he makes a decent unit with Semedo and Racon. Without him they're often ineffectual. We urgently need 2 new FBs plus a right midfielder/winger and a striker who can form an effective unit with Benson who, used appropriately, would not be a bad player.
Does Parky think Francis, for example, is good enough? I don't.
Just watched game again on sky and their 5th goal was not off side. We were poor but extremely poor in the second half apart from Abbotts goal which was quality. Semedo and Racon probably the poorest I have seen in a while. I have never seen Racon with such poor passing as today. Swindon were up for it - we did not turn up.
Got there 15 mins late so must have missed our good spell!
Got lucky with the opening goal after a clear hand ball was missed by the official.
We seemed unable to take the game to them at any stage. I though we were defensively inept before they scored. The first goal was poor marking. The second an calamitous error.
Then the crowning turd in the water pipe though was the decision to go three at the back which just gifted them the three points.
As per individual performances well there were none of note except perhaps Jackson who does at least try but was impotent at left back for most of the game. I also though Benson tried hard but with no success.
Reid should never wear the shirt again. His effort and performance was shockingly bad matched by Abbott who looked like he would struggle to get a game over Hackney Marshes - goal or no goal.
Racon winds me up. So much talent but stands there with his gloves on looking like he would rather be on the Riveria.
Semedo seemed like a fridge-stored maggot, slow in thought, and deed.
I left before the final whistle, it was that bad - I never do that.
I have my Swindon supporting mate arriving at the guesthouse today. Not looking forward to that.
This season is a repeat of last, though in a slightly different order. Good for a few games, bad for a few games, then good again then bad. How can this happen?
I went into work after that game, fully expecting a full on barrage of abuse and snide remarks, especially from all the Nigels, but even they were too shocked to say anything
They just put an arm around my shoulder and said, it'll be ok, don't worry, it'll be ok
: (
[cite]Posted By: gilbertfilbert[/cite]a striker who can form an effective unit with Benson who, used appropriately, would not be a bad player.
Sorry but disagree, I like Benno but he is one division above his level.
Agree we need two full backs and def one if not two CB. Would like to see Fry at CB (if we get him back)
JJ wasted as left back and Racon has had far too many chances
We need 2 FB, 1-2 CB, 1goal scoring striker, 1 RF, 1 creative CM
1. The method of a long punt forward (hit and hope) doesn't work 2. The wingers cannot beat a full back 3. We struggle to defend crosses 4. There is a lack of movement from the forward players 5. Semedo is too slow when he turns to face backwards and gets caught in possession 6. We rely too heavily on goals from Jackson (they will dry up) 7. We always get outplayed in the centre of the park 8. The manager is tactically inept
I watched it on the box in Oz, and was gobsmacked at that display. Feel for Benson, he doesn't get the service he requires to score, not saying he is not to blame as the rest, but hitting 40 yard balls into the 18 yard box when he has 2 taller, stronger CB breathing down his neck is not smart football. The midfield were unseen, and we sat so deep when we were in possession! A lack of support, creating space, from all the players was evident.
But what done my head in was the tactics. We started with a 4 3 3, which did not work against a 5 man midfield of swindons, so we went 4 4 2, which also failed so parky went a 4 3 3 again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the f*&k!!!!!!!!
The body language of the players was discusting, quite frankly, as was Parky's on the touchline.
He looked a worried man, and I would be too after that toss.
It was not 4-3-3, it was 4-5-1 with McCormack breaking from midfield. The weird thing was McCormack got clean through 3 times during the game but did not have the pace or ability to go through and finish....
Benson's movement is poor - he hardly moves or tries to pull defenders out of position. Punting balls aimlessly up front won't work either, but I felt sorry for Fortune every time he picked up the ball - there was NOTHING in front of him showing at all.
