  • That was McCormack for anyone wondering.
  • One of those games when I will have to see it again to see if we were as bad as we appeared to be!....

Come on you guys, I am the one that lacks conviction and confidence, I do expect you lot on here to be more positive than half empty merchants like me!

Was it me or did we just play poorer the longer the game went on!

What was that clown Charlie Austen so bloody smug about!.....he 'needed a good dry slap', a kick up the arse and a nice little elbow......

Benson* please take note you spent the whole game being knocked off the ball by the Swindon centre half, when you came back to defend the header he beat you and scored!

Not sure if me and Saga Lout were shocked or too cold to get too upset!

    Better sleep on it !
  • [cite]Posted By: seth plum[/cite]As a point of order, and being there and not seeing it on TV, but should our (first) goal have been allowed?

From where I sat it was a clear handball.
  • just didn't look at the races. Lazy passing, shocking defending for all goals (not just Francis this time, although he was still bad), Racon and McCormack seemed very non existent, Martin and Reid not used effectively, again Benson fed scraps. The players just don't seem up for it. I think we should just ignore whatever happens against Spurs because we are gonna get embarrassed if we play the way we have been over the last 4-5 games.

Only positive..... Abbott's finish. Cracking, where did that come from and i hope he has more in his locker.
  • And I agree with a couple of mentions above... Charlie Austin probably didn't get where he is today by whinging and whining his way around the pitch and doing churlish, provocative celebrations but he's a star now isn't he

Now I aint the bloke's biggest fan but I don't think he was bought to jump up and down like an acid head at a rave for gigantic hoofed balls against massive centre halves or chase up and down like a whippet... he had two half chances in the game, we gave him no more. Paul Benson isn't going to create much for himself and we knew that when we signed him so the only time I'm going to criticise him personally is when he misses chances he should be taking or when he lacks effort. Neither of which I think were evident today.
  • McCormack's considered view on twitter:

"Shit game. Shit result but jus gettin ready to eat at oxo tower, london so slightly cheered me up"

Get ready to eat Wimpey mate. . . .

So why come back to mark the guy!, and let him score.......( which was my point)

I Appreciate 'it is not his type of game' how about saying that to Parky eh!.. because it seems the manager sees it differently.

Not sure about chasing them down like a whippet, I thought the fastest he moved all night was when he chased back!, it is his lack of pace that is one of his problems, and the balls laid on for him that he cannot get to!

And yes you have guessed it I aint the guys biggest fan , or fan at all!

I always try to avoid getting on players and managers back as I believe that everyone that represents us, should have the opportunity to become a charlton legend (dowie aside) but tonight I know that parky is not up to the job and has run out of ideas. I now debate with myself whether he had any idea anyway. Also, GET OUT OF MY CLUB MARTIN YOU PALACE xxxx.

where do you lot get 4,3,3 it was 4,5,1. Fortune has 20 yards of space in front of him, he decides to take 2 yards and whallop a 50 yarder to Benson in the air who has no Charlton player within 20 yards of him if he had won the header. 4,3,3 you are having a laugh.

  • Whats with all this winning the toss and choosing to kick the wrong way business this season?
  • How is Lee Martin a Palace C*** ?
  • Does anyone know the record score in an FA Cup game - we could well see that beaten next weekend.
  • Where I sat in West stand it was very negative. Lots of grumbling. Team seemed to lack cohesion. Lucky goal to take the lead but lack of skill and movement all round. Dailly was playing quite well until his awful clanger. Reid played ok. Mac was very ineffective. Neither Racon or Semedo were able to dominate an ordinary Swindon midfield. Usual erratic peormance from Martin but mainly poor. Ditto Francis. It reminds me of our clueless games when we were relegated from the Championship but amazingly we are still contenders! Would Wise do better with this team? I doubt it. We need some new players, thats for sure.
  • "The record score in an FA Cup tie was set in 1887 when Preston North End beat Hyde 26-0"

I think most bookies only go up to 10 with others "on request" lol

I'd also say getting Anyinsah and Fry fit and back in the team (with Jackson back at left midfield in a 4-4-2) would help, whoever the manager is.

We struggle when we're not playing our best 11. Fortunately it's probably true of most clubs in this division. Two or three very good signings could really improve this team.

[cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]where do you lot get 4,3,3 it was fucking 4,5,1.

Phew. Glad you said that Steve. Thought it was just me.

Not sure Martin deserves quite so much stick, and I'm waiting to hear why he's a Palace c***. At least he works hard. Racon was good for 70 minutes, but he's obviously not fit either. Notice that black support thing on his right leg?

Can't think of anything else remotely positive about that crap though, nor can I criticise anyone who booed at the end. But I agree with Scoham. And I really dont know why people keep going on about Dennis Wise. You might just as well go on about George Burley. They're both failures as managers, and we don't need either of them.

Yet another absolutely shocking performance to add to our abysmal home record. Bizarre decision to put jackson at left back where he's absolutely wasted. defending was poor all round, no real attacking threat and mcCormack was non-existent.
  • Anyone fancy coming along to the Oxo Tower with me right now, just to make sure that McCormack's day is as "shit" as the rest of ours?

Coming out with shit like that is an absolute fucking disgrace. "Game was shit, but hey, I've got plenty of dough I've taken off those mugs so I'm off out for a slap up meal to enjoy myself. It's not all work work work"

  • oh apart from a bit of advice to messers new consortium......cancel the fecking cheque or forever be marooned in this endless groundhog day that is being a supporter of Charlton Athletic !
  • i wanna call it 4-5-1 but McCormack was like a lost child.

''can the parents of alan mccormack......''
  • How do you analyse that?!

It seemed to me as if the two goals we scored were our only real two attacks on target.

Marginally better than Walsall but not by much.

Our players appeared to be physically dwarfed by Swindon and were frequently out muscled and knocked off / away from the ball or brushed aside as the Swindon players won the ball. I think Parky sensed that would happen which was why Mc Cormack was selected. I can't think of another reason!

We were lucky to be allowed our first goal because Benson DID handball in the build up. However God knows how much worse things would or could have got without that little bit of help from the ref although he certainly more than "evened it up" afterwards. I don't recall us getting another 50:50 decision after our goal.

Midfield, once more, is where we lost it together with a rare mistake by Dailly for their second and powder puff aerial challenges for their third and fourth as our weedy little players were ruthlessly brushed aside.

I think everybody tried, with the possible exception of a disinterested looking Reid, but we showed today that we are in division 3 for a reason.
  • I think our fundamental problem is that we all too often don't seem to have any pattern to our play or any obvious tactics offensively. A lack of a creative midfielder doesn't help but our lack of movement was particularly exposed today compared with Swindon's pass and move style. We created precious little and our offensive players (particularly the wide players) make very poor decisions when they all too rarely get possession in the parts of the pitch where they should be able to do some damage. It's the ineptitude of the performance that is the real worry for me rather than just the result.
  • it all stems from a lack of footballing ability in central midfield - i've banged on about it so many times and throwing mcormack in there as well (who is even worse than semedo and racon) only compounds it.
  • [cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]I think everybody tried, with the possible exception of a disinterested looking Reid, but we showed today that we are in division 3 for a reason.

Reid was on fire first half i thought and caused loads of problems. Was getting stuck in too which isnt always the case with ball players. Picked up a booking at end of the half and think that's why he reigned it in a bit.

I think we would all "try" len but doesnt mean that it would justify the performance or result. We are gutted and hurting and it's a great start to the working week. They might be a bit non- plussed but they'll earn 5 times what i will tomorrow and the flash motors, bank balance and fancy restaurants will probably make them feel a lot more chipper than the rest of us.
  • inept performance but the league is wank so all is not lost
we're carrying a few shit players and some good ones have been charltonised into shit players
went in the club shop afterwards it was so empty it was as depressing as the ground itself
completely misread this fixture thought it would be a tight close affair with us edging victory couldn't be more wrong!
anyway having studied the table and witnessed that load of heartless drivel this is how i see it
2% chance of automatic promotion 68% play offs 30% lets see how serious these wise guys are about taking on our debt
  • cannot believe there wasnt a bigger reaction to the way racon lost the ball and jogged back after just 35 minutes. looked like he was treading water. their player was running with the ball and racon lost about 20 yards on him in 3 seconds. what chance have we got.
  • Stop shouting - why is Martin a Palace C**t?
Might not have had a good game but that is a real random comment

i thought austin was doing the sprinkler celebration but i suppose as touchy charlton fans he was basically taking his clothes off fondling himself and spraying his juices all over us

as for whoever posted they're going out for a meal at the fucking oxo tower, so what if you're weird enough to be on twitter reading that drivel why be bothered to be offended by him going out for a meal , wtf do you want him to say , i'm going home to take a gun to my family and friends cos we've just lost a game of football perleeease as wank as he is live and let live you weirdos
