Maybe make one thread for it?

Poor performance, just can't seem to play at home. Unbeaten away in 11 and one of the top scorers in the League but why won't it happen at home?

Our defence needs a serious makeover, I hope Slater and co can help with that. A team that could have gone joint 2nd tonight should not be that low on confidence and ain't going to be helped by people booing during the f**king game ffs.

  • That performance was inept and deserved to be booed.

If i was any of them players out there, I would expect to be booed.

    Sack of shit.
  • Easy to blame the crowd, didn't hear much booing on the tv. proffessional footballers should be above that anyway. All I heard was the silence of dispair and resignation to yet another shambolic performance.
  • 1. The method of a long punt forward (hit and hope) doesn't work
    2. The wingers cannot beat a full back
    3. We struggle to defend crosses
    4. There is a lack of movement from the forward players
    5. Semedo is too slow when he turns to face backwards and gets caught in possession
    6. We rely too heavily on goals from Jackson (they will dry up)
    7. We always get outplayed in the centre of the park
    8. The manager is tactically inept
  • Do we have a single player that can run faster than any player in any other team? Do we have any players that can pass and control the ball? We made Swindon look like promotion contenders. Last four league games: 2 draws against 10 men thanks to 3 penalties. 2 losses at home against 2 of the worst teams in this division. Hate to say it, always been a PArky supporter but he looked like a man wondering where he was going to go for his long winter break with the family...and I think that was a P45 moment...
  • never been so bored at a Charlton match, was undecided whether to actually go and wish I hadn't bothered.

Sack of sh*te the lot of em...the only one I thought looked to be trying to make things happen was Racon
  • Depressingly awful. Completely clueless. I wont blame the players, these sort of performances are for me purely down to poor coaching on the training park. New manager please mr slater.
  • It was a bit of a disaster from a tactical point of view. Refreshing to see us start 4-5-1 but McCormack was pushed up far too close to Benson, Racon was busy running down dead ends and Semedo had a stinker so the back four had very few options once Elliot rolled it out to them.

However, at 2-1 down going to 4-4-2 was suicide as we kept possession even worse and this was going to be our only (very slim) chance of getting back into the game.

    I fear for next weekend!
  • Glad I didn't spend my afternoon and evening driving up there and back and just watched it on TV.

Just terrible. Bizarre decision to play 4-3-3, we've create little with it this season and it doesn't suit any of our strikers.

Could see Parky told them to try and keep the ball on the floor. Just didn't come to anything. Don't have the players to break an organised team down.

Second half an awful error from Dailly and it all fell apart like the Brighton game.

Once we were losing we began the hopeful hoofs and crosses into the box and unsurprisingly it rarely led to a chance.
  • Can some one please tell me where McCormack was supposed to be playing tonight?

We just have not got a clue at home. We are so slow in possesion that teams are able to get 11 behind the ball, which leads to Fortune on our good mate Francis simply smashing the ball in the general direction of poor old Benson.

their two centre halves were woeful on the floor but were excellent in the air. so what do we do...........
  • [cite]Posted By: addickwayne[/cite]I wont blame the players

The tactics were clearly very wrong but you have to put some blame on players when you concede 2 goals from set-piece situations and another one from a blatant error, don't you?

  • well the sad thing for me is this------i thought we were playing witha 8pm kick off !! i tune in here because i have lostthe will to go every game to find we have already been stuffed.-------thats sad.

next week i will arange to go and do some family business which im not looking forward to at the same time time we play the Yids--------------i just dont wanna know how many they get untill its all over.

Denis Wise ? yes please at the hurry
  • Inept. Gutless, tactically devoid. Boring, one dimensional. Unmotivated, embarrassing. Quite frankly only a little worse than usual IMHO.
  • Dreadfully boring football, played by no-hopers and has-beens.

We will get proper skinned at Spurs next week.
  • I was at home and I booed.

    Rubbish of the lowest order.

    Embarrassing.

    thats sad.
    snap
  • Where was Francis? Why on earth would we push our top scorer all season back to LB, it was moving him upfield that was the key to our earlier run of form - is parky really this clueless?

Another game of aimless punting the ball forward, hopefully some time soon the penny will drop and our management may realise this just does not work for us.
  • Players I would rather not see in a Charlton shirt ever again: Francis, McCormack, Martin.

Otherwise I thought Fortune had a decent game but Dailly made two wholly uncharacteristic howlers, and Jackson is wasted at full back.

We are not winning the midfield battles and we are far too slow in our use of the ball -- too often, though, no one shows for the man in possession.

The persistent hoofing to poor Benson (it's just not his game) has gone beyond a joke, yet it seems that it is actually Parky's plan! I'm afraid Parky lost me today, and I've defended him all along. We looked an awful side, playing faecal football.
  • Shit. As bad as Wallsall and worse than Brighton. Cheerio Parky.
  • 8:40 and, as far as I can tell, Parky is still manager - I have to say I am a little surprised. I wonder how long he will last now.

Banks are open tomorrow - new owners will be in there trying to cancel the cheque.
  • "Shit game. Shit result but jus gettin ready to eat at oxo tower, london so slightly cheered me up"

not my thoughts... but those of one of our players in today's game...

you are joking me right surely

no one was booing until the 3rd goal by then we were done, we had been shit fromn the start, we scored from a handball we hoofed the ball everytime we got it

the fans fault that i spose

i hope the booing went straight into slaters ears and he boos parky as he tells him to f right off
  • Started off brightly and outclassed them technically to begin with and thought the tactics and formation looked good.

Swindon looked dangerous on the counter and wasnt suprised when they equalised.

As for the second half it was a shamble of Millwall away proportions. When Parkinson played 3 at the back with Dailly as sole CB I thought we would be exposed by the lack of pace. Cant play Dailly as lone CB, for all his heart and comitment he doesnt have the legs at his age.

Made Swindon look like Barcelona at points. Seem to be severly lacking in any winning mentality when it counts and how we are in the top half of the table shows what a tin pot league it is.

Charlie Austin is a good goal scorer but a complete wind up merchant and his celebrating right in front the north lower was uncalled for. Doubt he would have been as brave/ stupid to do that at Millwall for example and couldnt understand the need for it as dont think we have history with him really. Wouldnt be too upset if he broke his leg in his next game after that and had to go back to doing a proper job. Muppet.

Would have thought after the heartbreak swindon caused us last season we would have been right up for it on the pitch but we looked like nervous schoolboys for parts of that 2nd half.

Inevitably the booing came and to be honest i cant blame those who did tonight. £25 to watch that and whilst the odd misplaced pass at this level is more than forgivable some of the numerous basic errors made tonight really shouldnt be occuring in professional football.

Our league position flatters to deceive and serious changes are needed if we are to get out of this league.

Just hope the new owners' cheque has cleared.

Still the tea was hot so every cloud.
  • Looks like the gelling agent came from PoundSavers as well as the players. I'm just very upset. Parky was the person I wanted to be at Charlton, but he clearly can't stay as manager. It was almost as though the players themselves threw down the gauntlet to the new owners. RM looked very grim at the end and others just looked shell shocked. Que sera, sera.

That has cheered me up too, the food there is rather nice.
  • As a point of order, and being there and not seeing it on TV, but should our (first) goal have been allowed?

And that sums up so much that is wrong with the modern footballer. Should go into hiding after that and get into training an hour early not go living it up in town while the rest of us have our week ruined.

Enjoy the food we've paid for you absolute cretin.
  • My best decision today was not to drive from Cornwall to The Valley - instead I watched Truro City beat Tiverton and pull 8 points clear at the top of the Zamaretto. I love CAFC as you will know - but thank God I didn't drive there - it was touch and go - I nearly did. I would have kicked myself.

The Valley was empty, the support was inaudible.

I watched the first half - it was great. We looked confident and well in charge. Daily, Semedo and Racon were bossing it - the goal was deserved.

So they score and go two up. Now I've always supported Parky and still do - but the changes he made were panic ones.

Why, if Wagstaff was going to pull it round, didn't he start? I don't think he's looked that good since the Peterborough game anyway. Pavel Abbot is not good enough - I know he bagged a goal but he's a luxury player like a poor man's Berbatov. And what EXACTLY does Akpo Sodje do? Why did Parky make these changes? Why not stay with the team he picked? We were doing fine. We might have pulled it round.

Well we didn't - and if we don't get a starting eleven that's consistent soon we'll be in league one next year.

I was really disappointed today, Parky, and I don't often say that. Really disappointed, Parky.

    :(

nope, benson handball and martin was offside and quite clearly interfering with play... we would've been as fuming as Benson's on saturday
