I guess that would depend on how good they think they are, and how good they think wwe are. Brighton beat us 4-0 at The Valley and won 5-0 yesterday. We, on the other hand lost our last league team to a side that was bottom of the league and lost 3-0 at home yesterday.
I'm not saying I'm very happy about it, but i suspect that Brighton are better than us with ten men, and Colchester are moe than a match for us with ten also.
Those of us who see us play week in and week out become somewhat entrenched in our opinion and either fall into the category of a doom and gloom merchant or a member of the Rose tinted specs brigade. That is why I always take great note of what my brother jimmymelrose says when he is back from France and sees us play as he is giving an honest assessment of what he sees without any preconceptions. The same can be said of what has been said above by Queensland Addick. I place more store by what he has written than I do of that by anyone else.
Could someone at the FA please do something about the referee Mr Miller. In a league of poor referees he truly stands out - I've seen him three times vs Swindon, Dagenham and now Colchester and each time he has been truly awful. He also ssems to have teamed up with Mr Artis and another equally inept linesman to form something of a nightmare team. He makes inconsistent and unusual decisions which bemuse all the players - perhaps he could explain why there was no foul on Doherty for their 3rd goal yet he saw one when Benson scored his second. Time and again you could see the older players from both sides quietly questioning his decisions. I suspect he thrives on publicity - and doesn't understand that good refs are meant to fade into the background. Time for an an early retirement Mr Miller.
That said Charlton were not good - and never are at playing sides built by Aidy Boothroyd or with a similar ugly approach to football.
Just re watched the Benson sending off, what a utterly ridiculous decision, the linesman was behind the play, and the ref had no view, one footed, looked worse as the players collided. a booking at worst
Got to ask the question, I'm starting to believe that refs below the Championship think they can get away with poor decisions as they dodge the TV coverage
Just out of interest, as an ill-informed person on this subject, how many cameras are at our level for your average non-televised, 45 seconds on the football league show?
Whereas PL appeals are going to be judged on two dozen cameras, super slow-mo's and all that jazz, are we looking at a one angle one shot judgment on appeal?
(there was seemingly only one angle showing all 6 goals and the sending off on Saturday)
