[cite]Posted By: nichorob[/cite]Another 2 points dropped, obviously did not learn from our mistakes against Brighton and continued today to look the weaker team when having a man advantage.
[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]Shame Parky didn't take heed of Brownies criticism on Wednesday as once again he had no answer as to what to do. He is tactically inept.
Wasn't there, is it really just down to poor tactics, or are some players lacking intelligence or confidence to make use of the extra space? Wagstaff for one is still learning and inconsistent, and Reid and Martin aren't the most intelligent players.

I agree with that completely, especially about Martin. Somebody close to the club told me at Brighton that Reid on the other hand thinks he is too good for this division. Perhaps against Spurs he will prove it....
[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]Reinforcements can't come quick enough although I believe a change at the top would be much more beneficial in the long run. If Preston come calling it would give the new owners a handy get out, if I were them I'd take it.
You were also happy with Dowie and Pardew, so perhaps we should keep him till at least the end of the season
[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]And against one striker we have two centre backs and Semedo protecting them, why?
We've taken Semedo off in games before and ended up creating less because there's no one in the midfield to win the ball, Norwich at home last season a good example.

You can keep him as long as you like but in my opinion, which is all it is and which I am perfectly entitled to, we are going nowhere under Parky. If it takes to the end of another wasted season for you to realise that then so be it.
Woeful. I'm embarrassed by our league position. We used up yet another get out of jail free card today. Too many of our players are so out of form it's not funny. Has Waggy just lost form or is he being used to cover the useless right back who's only skill is the occasional good cross. Jackson isn't a winger and apart from two very good pens didn't do enough. Our left back had a mare, doc had a dodgy day, Francis is non league and apart from taking his goal well, Benson was anonymous and I honestly thought Martin had gone off. Credit to Dailly for trying to drive us forwards and Abbott for his hold up play. Something has to be wrong in the dressing room because too many of them just aren't performing. Is that the same Kyel Reid who tore Southend to shreds? He looks a shadow of the man..... We have three wingers at the moment incapable of taking on a player, they all get the ball, stop turn around and lay it back.....none of them know the meaning of making space, none of them even seemed capable of playing simple one twos today. I just hope The new owners cheque has cleared, boy have they got their work cut out.
If parky larky thought we put in a good performance today then, as large rightly states -he is deluded. That was not good enough today and that is all there is to it. We want out of this league right? Then we better get our act together starting with parky.
You can't protect the team forever, it doesn't make you a better charlton fan then the next guy if you maintain a positive outlook all the time. Our fans are stuck in this loser mentality of " oh well we got a point" Bollox to that, we need to get some balls and WIN some bloddy games. Because this league is piss poor and next season we could be joined by a few decent clubs in league 1 if we stay here.
Funny, isn't it? We have just played two major promotion rivals back to back and got two very useful draws away from home. And yet by reading some of the posts on here you would swear we were third from bottom rather than third from top.
This is the third division folks, nobody plays like Brazil down here.
Was there, thought we were pretty poor, only a few occasions where we passed the ball about....but then again these players are third division for a reason are they not?
Positives were Jackson, Dailly, Elliot, Semedo.
Half decentish were Racon, Reid and Abbott.
The rest were either woeful or anonymous...Benson was both, yet equalised with a decent goal...thought the nasty stick given to Mooney was a reflection of the brainless lumpen that characterises an element of our fans...we were poor also, the only good thing was an away point, and the whisper that we will be making more than one signing....my goodness do we need freshening up!

Mate if you were here watching it, you'd change your tune. Queensland Addick was here today and I don't think he could believe how poor we are. Not asking for Brazil, just effort commitment and a touch of passion....all missing from this squad.

I know what you mean mate, and I am happy overall with 2 draws. But at the same time I almost agree with Jarman as he can see these ''get out of jail free cards'' are going to run out one day, and our true shit performances are going to get the results they deserve.

Alrite mate
sounds like i missed the right one
was it that poor tel, 3 goals away from home i know 2 were pens but was it 2 poor teams or have we scrapped another one.
I understand that we are playing a bit scratchily Tel but we are halfway through the season and are effectively second in the league and in the FAC 3rd Round. You can't knock that from a results point of view.
Kyel Reid's confidence is low but he can still be our best player.Someone in managment should tell Reid not to try and beat his man unless he is in the opposition's last quarter. All he has to do is not give the ball away in our half and move up without the ball.As soon as he gets the ball in any position he is trying to go past his man and this has become too difficult and predictable. If he gets the ball in the last quarter he will trouble any defence.
I liked Abbott and Dailley today looked as if he's been watching videos of Kaiser Beckenbauer and Franco Baresi over the Xmas Hols.Real Captain's performance.
Francis I cannot fathom. He blows hot and cold all the time. Its like watching Jekyll and Hyde. There is something definitely good there but then he is prone to horrendous and baffling wrong decisions.
I thought Martin was better then usual today but I wish he would pass the ball more instead of trying to beat his man all the time.Waggy was justifiably upset at him in the second half when a simple pass would have put him one against one with their keeper.
I wont comment on the boy Fry .He has been man enough already to admit he had a stinker. But it is all the defence that have to be more tight in marking the forwards. We got sloppy again ,as at Brighton,in set pieces.Again we are not tight enough when defending.
Semedo was good but Racon never got started.Injury perhaps? Finally starting to get really worried about Waggy.Maybe like all young players he needs a break.
I said before the match I would be happy with a draw.To come back in an away fixture three times from behind is no simple achievment. So feeling quite pleased tonight especially
after last year's spineless performance.
I have said previously we need a manager who wants to play football, somebody young but who has played top level football. The way Poyet has Brighton playing is so pleasing on the eye.I think the frustration from the fans is we are playing such boring football, 30 yard balls down the chanells doesn't get me on the edge of my seat.
I listened to a interview on 5 live with Wally Downes prior to West Ham's match with Wolves. He said it is the player's responsibility to enthuse the fans, and you can't expect the fans to pick up the atmosphere if they are not being enthused. Let's hope changes are a foot as I really do believe it will be a missed opportunity if we don't go up this year.
Back from the game. Did Benson run over the ref's cat at half time ? Cannot believe his second was ruled out and that deceision was only bettered in the non-believability stakes by that nonsense of a sending off. I'm sure on reveiew the suspension will be revoked.
But in fairness the point we got was all we deserved. Again, we didn't push on against ten men and we only seemed to try and force the issue once we went three two down.
Doherty was terrible as was Fry - I really wonder if Dailly looks around sometimes and wonders what he's doing here.
I agree that we need a change at centre back, surely it's time to give Seip a go ? I'd also drop Waggy - I think he needs a kick up the bum so I'd put Martin at right mid.
If you weren't there and are looking for a plus to take from the game then Abbott wasn't as shocking as possible, he seemed to hold the ball up quite well and while he wont ever set the world on fire he looked better than his previous performances.
Robbie appeared to have enjoyed his Christmas dinner a little too much !!!
If Colchester hadn't had the sending off, we would have been murdered. People........ they played with ten men for a big slice of the game, yet they took the game to us and took the lead. We were extremely lucky today, maybe I need to borrow Rothkos rose tinted specs, but there agin everyone around me including the four other fans I went with thought the same. Don't you think I'd love to come on here and say we were brilliant? Nothing would please me more. We haven't played well chaps, Sheffield Wednesday is the only exception, where we had a complete team effort.
I didn't go today but it's pretty clear from reading the above that it was a poor performance yet again. Of course the PP apologists will point to our lofty league position as justification for giving Parkinson our continued support but quite frankly our position in the league is quite baffling. This Charlton team plays god awful football week in week out. We are embarrassed in footballing terms by practically every team we play. I cannot think of a single dominant performance at The Valley which is where promotion will be won or lost and yet we cannot put on a show. We are tactically woeful and I have not seen any signs of improvement. I hope changes are made soon because I believe with a decent coach this current squad should be performing so so much better.

Not sure I agree totally, we were magnificent front to back at Peterborough, we looked the real deal and played together like a team in a way I haven't seen for years. But you're right in general, we haven't played convincingly many times this season, certainly not enough times to justify an automatic promotion place, which looking how weak this league is, now has to be the goal.

Are you actually a Charlton fan? No seriously are you?
If you hate us so much and always see the negatives why do you even bother?
That was not good enough today and that is all there is to it.
