  • Doesn't really bother me if Wise is involved, he's probably got more football knowledge and experience than most of our current management team put together

the last thing we need if he is, is demonstrations etc...that will probably derail our promotion bid.

lets just wait and see, as mentioned above, I've got every confidence that if it's a good enough deal for Minty and Reg then that's all I need to know.

    Anyone seen Dennis today?

Who's on the CL rota to stand outside the ground on surveillance duty ?

[cite]Posted By: DA9[/cite]At the end of the day the facts are, Murray is prepared to sell to whomever they may be, and Reg is happy to front their bid, if whoever they are are good enough for those two, then they are good enough for me.

There has to be a song in this somewhere ;0)

Only if I get the royalties!
  • Still amazing noone has leaked who it is.

We've had Zabeel, Aeg, Sheikhs and now the company above. Hopefully if the sticking point is the north stand it'll be resolved soon as its January next week and I would imagine new owners would want promotion as quickly as possible so they would invest in January.
  • what's it got to do with the Covered end?
  • [cite]Posted By: Rothko[/cite]what's it got to do with the Covered end?

the reason for the delay is around the ownership of the Covered End....something to do with the new owners and KRBS
  • Aren't both ends covered. ;0)
  • [cite]Posted By: nth london addick[/cite]Most credible rumour so far is Alexander Knaster and his company Pamplona CApital Management

It's not credible, you just think they could be potentially interested. The Wise rumour is more credible because people can back it up.
  • Original Varney Statement claimed:
"This means that unless issues come to light of which the investors have not been made aware there should be new owners of the club this side of Christmas."

You mean like forgetting to mention who owns our main stand.
    Amateurish if true!
  • I quoted large I didn't say it was credible

I said that's the 2nd time I had heard that company mentioned

I don't know what to believe about wise other than he has been at the club over the last few months

However it was said to me that he is not involved. From someone who has access to snipits of info

  • Pamplona were mentioned by another poster about three days ago as he'd been tipped off by a family member or friend who worked for their bankers. Now somewhere along the line a bank employee or a solicitors employee etc is going to be privee to certain information and if they know a charlton fan pass it on. I have since been passed their name by another source. I very much doubt they would buy us as an investment so it's either Knaster himself, worth 500m plus, or they are buying on behalf of a client who may then remain anonymous to us. Either way they are a more credible buyer than most mentioned on here.
  • [cite]Posted By: Elthamaddick[/cite]the last thing we need if he is, is demonstrations etc

Especially on the scale of the Pardew demo's
  • I'm not just saying this to wind up those who seem to think he is the devil incarnate, but the more I think about it, the more I'm warming to the idea of Wise, if he is involved.

I know some think that a bad odour follows him everywhere he goes. But you never know, he could be just the breath of fresh air we need...
  • Sorry, what have KRBS got to with the Covered End? Unless it was refinanced by them last year I thought that debt was all owed to Lombards as a mortgage

Early on in this takeover saga the name of Jiminez was mentioned but since then has not really cropped up to any great extent. I am increasingly thinking that Jimenez is heavily involved and that Wise as a reported close associate of Jiminez is acting as an advisor on the football aspects for whoever Jiminez and Varney have brought to the table. It would certainly explain the what appear to be substantiated reports of Wise making notes on the players and being seen at both The Valley and at Sparrows. Wouldn't it make perfect sense for prospective new owners to have a report on the strengths and weaknesses of the squad in order to assess how much would need to be invested in the team and by an independent figure that Jimenez feels he can trust. If my hunch is correct regarding the above, it doesn't necessarily follow that Wise is involved in any other capacity than advisor during the takeover. This scenario might explain why NLA and Henry have intimated that Wise is not involved in any formal role in the consortium but still his name keeps cropping up ? As for the identity of the new people I think it is becoming IMHO increasingly likely that there is going to be substantial money behind the purchase. I base this on nothing more than my feeling that Jiminez is involved and I think he moves in quite financially exhaulted circles as far as football finances are concerned. Just the musings of bored bank holiday afternoon with no inside knowledge whatsoever.
  • The bit about KRBS and the covered end is new to me. Does anybody know the facts on this and can explain please
  • KRBS own the North Stand !! utter nonsense
  • Mortgage on the North Stand is with Lombard.

Cant believe for one minute that this is a sticking point. Would have been very clear to any prospective investor.

Much more likely to have been delayed by the poor weather - solicitors not working etc.
  • My mate works for Lombard, and i asked him about the loan, and yes charlton are still paying the loan off, so obviously this will feature in the negotiations of the take over.

I don't think so. The negotiations have happened. The deal has been agreed.

If the deal has been agreed, do we think it will be announced sometime tomorrow before the Brighton game or will the new owners wait and want it announced before the live televised game on Monday?
  • Who knows? All I'm saying is that whoever is buying us have already entered a legally binding contract if we are to believe the statements, and I'm sure (although have no direct experience) that means the price and any other "negotiations" are already sorted.

Unless due diligence picks something up then our club WILL be sold.

Wasn't questioning you WSS as to whether the deal has been done, just putting out there if people think (if it is indeed completed tomorrow allowing for the long xmas break), it will be announced tomorrow to get rid of doubt (especially in Parky's and the players minds) or will they go for big announcement on TV (bearing in mind how secretive they have been already).
Just a genuine question on peoples thoughts of the (pending) announcement.
  • If it's done the "Charlton Way" i expect an understated statement around a lunchtime before 2011...

"The Charlton way" may just be about to change !
  • If we were going to the wire on Xmas eve then we should hear something tomorrow. Most people back at work so hopefully all parties can get the unresolved issues sorted out. Thursday latest I heard.
  • just heard from a reliable source that the deal is to be done tomorrow but owners to remain unanimous dont know how true this is but as i said heard from reliable source
  • I imagine item 1 when it became clear it wouldn't complete by Christmas Eve (something obviously in contemplation of both the parties judging by PV's quotes on the morning of Christmas Eve) would have been to agree a new long-stop date for the acquisition agreement so I don't think we need to worry about the legally binding nature of the deal now being at risk.

Obviously though, the sooner the better, with both fans and the practicalities of club uncertainty and transfer window considered.

Owners are to remain unanimous? If I were them I'd remain anonymous.
