  • [cite]Posted By: Bexley Dan[/cite]You're as obsessed about the players being frightened by our crowd Jazzy as i am about our central midfield being the problem. Crowds reactions are natural and they tend to be a lot more tolerant with players they believe in in my opinion. Not that i condone the booing and groaning but its happened more ands more over the last 3 or 4 years because people are so fed up with the tripe on offer. Its a football match and for the crowd to sit in muted frustration for 90 minutes is unrealistic.

Oh yes i agree with your points mate. I just think instead of moaning (almost constantly) maybe a different approach is better? I can't say I was 100% positive on Sunday becuase I was f-ing and blinding a good few times at all the players but mainly at Francis, but then I generally stop and think ''this isnt helping anybody'' and I then do my loudest 'RED ARMY' to try get every other fan towards positive chants.

Correct. The problem is the players know that at home there are fickle fans shouting abuse and moaning if one little thing goes wrong, which rightly so makes them very nervous.

but wouldn't our sensitive little lambs be more crushed playing away from home when all the away fans are giving them grief?

But my personal experiences is that it doesn't happen so frequently when away.
  • my god jazzy. i swear you must go to games and watch the crowd rather than the football!!!

Your never gonna weed all the bellends out from a football ground...its not gonna happen.

parky and his players need to try and play football in the right way, that means getting the ball down and playing to our strengths. We have decent wide players and a player in racon who likes the ball at his feet. We have Benson who can link up play well on the deck and also poach a goal here and there. How do i know that....cos these are all things we see AWAY from home. So why do we chose to play differently at home just because the opposition are more defensive?.....Its got sod all to do with the people in the stands...we'd play our long lump it style if there was noone there watching. We need to keep the ball more and TRY and do the right things. better results at home will follow.

If the fans see this then the vast majority (those that know about football) will be happy.
  • I know what your saying Gary, but don't you think to yourself sometimes and say, hold on AWAY we play better football, better more positive crowd and we generally get results, at home worse football (by far) and the crowd alot less positive. Maybe the assholes that boo and chant Parky's a cunt don't go away games?

Sorry to bring the crowd up again, but I really think this is PART of the issue. I know players have pressure and they are paid to have pressure but if there is less pressure playing away from home and this is where the results are coming in from, isnt my point I am making correct? (At least in some little way)
  • [cite]Posted By: ValleyGary[/cite]. How do i know that....cos these are all things we see AWAY from home. So why do we chose to play differently at home just because the opposition are more defensive.

My theory for what it is worth, is that we do not have a midfield that can break down tight defences and away from home having that little bit extra space allows them to play, but at home they have no idea so the ball is just lumped up, which would be great if Iwelumo or Leaburn were there.
  • No we play better football away from home because the opposition are alot more likely to come at us leaving us open to play football on the counter attack and gives Racon somewhat more of a license to play his game.

There is absolutely no chance we would score 4 goals at home to Carlisle and 5 against Peterboro even with a sell out 27,000 all screaming parky is the world greatest manager and his players are amazing.

Too much emphasis is taken away from the real issues on the pitch by mindless actions by a few in the crowd.

Correct, and I know these are the real issues. All I was saying is more positive support would help.

i agree kap but we dont even try and breakdown defences at home. i said on another thread that our ball retention is crap, so how on earth are we gonna score if we give the ball away by lumping it 60 yards. If we get the ball out to Wagstaff/Reid/Jackson and whip crosses in then Benson and big joe will love that....we dont, we give it to francis who sticks it right on their centre halves head.

the thing that worrys me is that i and many others can see it but it appears parky cant......and if he can, why isnt he doing anything about it?...a 11 match unbeaten run is great but there is always room for improvement.

Spot on - away the players react, at home the onus is on us and the central midfield do not have what it takes to control play.

Agreed, if we were rolling opposition over then that 11 match would have been longer, still lets hope he has a post brighton chat with them and a cup of tea and they comeout on another 11 game unbeaten run which we all actually enjoy.

This league is open for a team to go on a sustained run, brighton looked like they might do it, but they have now been pegged back, we have had a hiccup and Saturday will determine the next step, Huddersfield look strong, Saints have yet to show what we thought thye were capable of. Its like a marathon race, if the Etheopians arent there then the leqad chops and changes, we need to be Ethiopeans - although i doubt we would get work permits.

Agreed, some people think the actions of the crowd have a bigger impact on play rather than the issues on the pitch.

It is easier for fans to have a go in person at fans (even if via an electronic profile) than try to blame players they never have any contact with.
  • It's almost like some posters have been waiting 11 games to have a good old moan

exactly, the usual suspects digging out the fans.
  • and the usual suspects digging out the players and managers.
  • to be fair to parky he apologised to me.
  • 114 Walsall fans attended on Sunday. I wonder how much influence they had on Walsall's professional performance?

That said I do think a general air of negativity in the ground affects the confidence of the players and confidence goes a long way towards breeding success not just in football.

Not sure what we're supposed to talk about on here if it's not the team. I've never been a fan of the way this team has been put together and i've been consistent in my views that the central midfield is devoid of any form of midfield general and that is the biggest problem. I'm glad we've been on a good run of results and have said that i'll truly start believing when i see some form at home but nothing i have seen has changed my mind. I don't boo or groan at the games but i can't wait for the 24th Dec and hope its an overhaul from top to bottom because our style of play at home is pants and i've just watched us be comprehensively outplayed by Luton and Walsall and have seen nothing all season that suggests we'll get promoted which is obviously, what the aim must be.

what????...i think people have been discussing why we play badly at home, have given vaild reasons and also ways of trying to improve.

heaven forbid a discussion on a discussion board.
