[cite]Posted By: Ketman[/cite]To call our Performance 'A Bad day at the Office' has to be the biggest understatement of the year. We were beyond woeful. I am sure I have seen us play worse, just cannot remember when.
I agree with that, I have to say. And in the light of that I'd commend the vast majority of Charlton Lifers because I think the response to our worst performance in more years than most of us can remember has been measured, sensible and even subdued, because we all acknowledge it came on the back of a long unbeaten run and expect the team to show us it was an aberration with a return to form tomorrow night.
exactly thats why comments like dont go and glass half empty, happy when unhappy are hollow comments no one is slating anyone or anything its been quite tame
the francis stuff is relevant and not unjustified imo
Do you think Parkys on his way , hence the lack of effort by the players As a a protest? Just noticed the goalie coach has moved on to Newcastle , perhaps theres stuff going on we are not ( yet) aware of?

Pardew originally brought Woodman to the club, Premier League plus a (most likely) bigger and longer contract also a good opportunity for him. So I doubt it has anything to do with the takeover and/or Parky's future.
another defeat was going to come along at some point and it's better to lose against a lower team rather than a rival! we've only failed to scored in three league games this season which out of 19 is a great record....but we've conceded in 14 of the 19 games played so the likelyhood is that if we dont score we will lose. with a plus 6 goal difference it means our games are tight generally with usually only one goal in it. 1-0 on tomorrow night will do me, 'if you're listening mr parkinson.'
Dazzler they get aimed at anyone who dares to suggest we are shite when we are.
Sometimes the anti parky brigade of which I am one does go ott but the same goes for those that do not see any thing bad in a poor performance and it gets swept under the carpet as that's what happens when you support a club like charlton and that's not the case. Yesterday was poor really poor no over reaction needed atleast 10 players were under a 5 out of 10
Are we that bad? I think it's indicative of few in our front six able to dominate a game, or draw a line when we're off form. Anyainsah's been a big factor, in that he unsettles players and puts pressure on ball that Benson, Wags, Semedo adn Racon rarely does. Semedo's great at blocking and picking up pieces, but doesn't drive anything. If Anyainsah picks up again, he covers up the weaknesses in the front six. Hopefully Waggy starts to get a bit more competitive in difficult phases as the season goes on.
We'll be alright, it's just dissapointing at home that players don't learn when they need to make a solid shape and step up.
Noticed both Waggy and Jackson tucked inside yesterday and didnt show for the ball down the line making it difficult for the full backs...it meant they either ran on with the ball into a dead end or punted it upfield...Fry got caught more often than not and Jackson wasnt there to tidy up.....Waggy didnt do a bad job tracking back to cover Francis who does take a punt more often than trying to take the ball down the line, but he did hide on the inside. We are worse than last season, I actually enjoyed a few games. This year its been gruelling to say the least. However as I said to Rhino yesterday, the table doesnt lie...its surely a very poor league this year.

Neither of them seemed to want to be on the wing yesterday for some reason and, as you say, moved inside instead.
Why? No idea unless they didn't want to be too near the fans.
We were turmed over yesterday and didn't even show any fight ... to be fair, if Walsall could finish, it could easily have been 3 nil ... and we couldn't have complained.
Worrying especiall after the awful firt half away to Luton ... but let's see what comes up tomorrow and Saturday. This league is so weak we can still go up.

mmm ... were their minds on Wembley instead of the league? No-one wanted to get injured for tomorrow??
Seems unlikely but possible.
proberly the most likely reason given i never thought of it that way, and due to the jpt restrictions on players all of them playing know they are unlikely to be dropped,

Of course, if true, it means they are going to have to go for it tonight and win!
EDIT: I forgot to mention that they picked up on our loyal support of our team...
And they also added "Where have we seen that before" very tongue in cheek. If you think that booing only happens at the Valley, then think again.
Oh I don't.
However I remember a time when The Valley was a fortress in the nineties and early Prem days with everybody getting behind the players.
Then the boo boys arrived, singling out Kish and Lisbie primarily, and have carried on ever since.
It may or may not be coincidence but the fortunes of our club have declined over the same period. Opposition managers have been quoted as saying that the tactic at The Valley is to frustrate for 20 minutes because the Charlton fans will turn on their own players.
My point essentially is that we used to be different. That is no longer the case. We are now Millwall lite as exemplified by that disgusting incident with the coin.

but before those days in the 90's len, our support gave it to Mark Aizelwood

You're right.
Hugh Mc Cauley got it as well in the 70s to some extent I remember but in general the attendances were less than we get now.
Perhaps the delight at finally being "home" overrode everything else combined with the team being (most ofthe time) on the up and steadily improving for that decade or so.
John Robinson, Phil Chapple, Carl Leaburn - they all took it but the collective groans you get around the ground now are just symptomatic of how bad its been for so long now. The Curbishley era spoilt us - we'd never known such consistent success and now we're back to the reality of dodgy managers, selling good players and all that. Curbishley was a drug and although he eventually turned into a mogodon bore, we've seen the promised land and itch to have it back - we're now scrapping around fora slurp of White Lightening and are extremely irritable.
I wouldnt say there was any real consistent success with Curbs (and or Gritt) from 92 until 98 and we certainly sold enough "good" players in that time. Curbs had the luxury of time (that does not exist in the modern game), building from scratch, making a couple of astute signings (along with some real stinkers of course) and got us into the playoffs a couple of times (one where we failed and one where we succeeded spectacularly). Both those times as well I think us fans went about our matchday experience in hope rather than expectation.
[cite]Posted By: Bexley Dan[/cite]Semedo is a defender playing in midfield.
Once again, this was very evident v Walsall. For all his strength, he offers very little creativity, but has been a part of all our relative success so far this season. I do wonder if during certain home games when we're well on top (this wasn't one of them!), we should look at a more creative option for at least part of the match. I don't claim to have any answers, but is there an argument for resting him at times when we don't need anyone in that deep-lying role with such limited passing ability? This may be the wrong thread as the whole 14 were collectively so flat v Walsall. Just a thought.

don't be afraid to say it - sing it to the world - we can't afford to have such a limited footballer in the midfield when we are playing at home. There - it's done. Stick Martin in with racon - it can't get any worse even if we concede a few more.
only positive i can think of from that game, was a show of fight and desire from a certain mr sodje playing on for 15 mins with a dislocated shoulder. we need more players with that kind of attitude.

Talking out of backside relates to posters who comment on games they haven't seen.

Yes sometimes but nowhere near the extent our scapegoats from Kishishev on have got.
