[cite]Posted By: nth london addick[/cite]Worst team performance I have witnessed. Elliot arguing with our own fans inside 10 mins after he was shouted up for two unforced errors.
Francis can not be being picked on form I can only assume that we don't have another rollback at the club.
.
Not one player could control a ball.
Benno had the game that he is always capable of which was non league standard.
Fortune is the shadow of the player he once was.
Semedo and racon were awful.
Martin and Reid offered nothing
Our decision making in every situation was wrong.
Francis without a doubt a very very poor player.
Anyinsah has to have been injured because he done no worse than Benson if anything he was the livelier of the 2.
We allowed them to play and got what we deserved and that was fudge all.
It is very easy for those not there to comment about glass half empty and only happy when unhappy.
No one goes there to want us to lose no one would be happier than those who see the game as it is and not the rose tinted specs.
Look no further than NLA's post.....tells you everything you need to know about one of the flattest, most lacklustre performances I've ever witnessed at the Valley. Hopefully just a blip in a turbulent season in a turbulent league. We'll come out stronger next week I'm sure.
Some credit to Walsall though, even though we gave them the freedom of South East London, they didnt come for a draw ala Bristol Rovers, they saw an opprtunity and took it well, could have 2 or 3 bearing in mind some missed chances late on.

well your contribution is shite mate I went it was awful. How anybody can continually pick Francis is shameful, the fact he paid good money for Benson is shameful, the amount that is not the fact he bought him.Bit Francis well you can't defend him any longer.Fortune is shot to pieces. Was disappointed that Martin & Reid just slipped in to the first half slopiness was hoping they would inject something.
Typical Charlton build you up and then when it shouldn't be expected kick you in the slats.
Why we are still struggling against teams at the bottom who every one else blows away is a mystery or perhaps just bad player attitude/ lack of motivation.
Thought it was a better performance today. We passed the ball much better than usual, scored a terrific goal and looked a decent side at times. We had the chances to have won much more comfortably. Mind you, they were very poor. Inept when in possession, they gave our back four no real problems. It’s very easy to see why they’re bottom of the table.
By the way, does anybody know why we changed shirts and not them? That was us in blue wasn’t it?
PS I also thought Doherty was outstanding today. Just as well too.
Rothko it's not the fact we bought him it's the amount we spent it's a lot of money for someone so lightweight when Joe went off we had nothing up front.
Incorruptible Addick said it all for me. Fortune was shocking and IMO hasn't been very good at all and Benson looked like a non league player, I'm still trying to fathom him out but I think parky has made a ricket spending 250k on him. Can't understand why parky took waggy off, I know he wasn't playing great but he can always pop up with a goal. Hopefully just a blip. Will need to play 100 per cent better on tuesday.
Very bad day at the office - as others have said, nobody comes out of the game with any credit.
Having said that, I do not agree with the boos, especially when we were one goal down with time still on the clock - I felt it was time to get behind the boys, not get on their backs.
Doherty held us together in my view . I was surprised at some of the negative comments on here . Why after Thursday did he play the same team ? I thought we looked tired and jaded.
In the pre match thread I speculated about Seip for Fortune .We had no pace at the centre of defence , why get Seip in and not play him in this run of games ? With this addition plus maybe Abbott preferred to Benson I would have started the game with the side which played the second half.
Also Robbie looks injured , his kicking was suspect at times , if Worner is out can we get some cover in because Brandon Hall was on the bench.
Agree with NLA entirely. Utter shite. My Mrs said its the worst she has ever seen, which says something after the last four/five shite seasons. Crowd tried but in the end if there isnt anything to cheer and encourage (and there wasnt) it ends up being morgue like and apathy sets in rapidly. I cant understand why its so awful at the Valley these days......and as for if we dont like it then dont go....well mate if we did that we would be playing in front of 5000, but I do however understand your frustration.
My worse fears expressed in the pre match thread that we would underestimate Walsall at our peril were sadly realised and after 94 minutes I hold my hand up and say that they deserved the 3 points they got.
A woeful performance summed up by the facts that their keeper did not have a save to make and we had ONE corner (should have been two but the lino cocked up). The only players for me who were anything like up to par were Doherty and Fry before he was substituted and even they were only at 6.5 -7 on the ratings scale. Jacko was nearly there but deteriorated once he moved to left back in my view.
I daresay the strikers have and will receive stick but for me the midfield were awol once again. Walsall competed and that little winger Jones and others played for 90 minutes which cannot be said for some of ours.
We've had a good run so I'll use the old cliche and put it down to a bad day at the office.
However we need to improve a lot on today and soon if we are to continue with serious aspirations of promotion.
Highlight of the day for me was chatting to a group of thoroughly pleasant Swedish chaps in Bartrams who were over for the match beforehand. I feel so sorry on their behalf that they came all this way to see such dross. I would rather have been at home writing my Christmas cards and wrapping presents that's how bad it was today!!
Also Robbie looks injured , his kicking was suspect at times , if Worner is out can we get some cover in because Brandon Hall was on the bench. Richard j quote....
That was what I was saying, looks like a thigh injury. And what was that in the first 10 minutes having a go at fans!......
I thought later on he made some decent saves and him and Doc saved us further misery to be honest.!
My god how we miss Dailly, sorry, but expect more of Fortune, his performances are getting worse.
But my main frustration is Benson, looks lightweight, and despite laying the ball off find it amazing that Joe and Waggy were subbed, and not him! He has a lack of pace, and really should have scored in the second half, with only the keeper to beat, and shot wide!.
Pretty obvious that they had done there homework on Reid, as they had two players on him when he came on!
Fry and Francis, sorry not for me, kept giving the ball away, some of the passing was well inept by these two!
Walsall were allowed to play, and pass, again we struggled to retain the ball because they closed us down!
Our performance against Brighton was poor, this was dreadful, weak, and gutless!, but at least Brighton went on to be top, so I have tried to console myself with that thought!. But what of this display!.. I thought we reserved performances like this for cup games!.......
We made Walsall look good!.
An awful lot of work needs to be done to give a performance against Spurs!.. come to think of it against the next league team!
Sadly to say it was unwatchable. Not one shot on target says it all. Very few players came out of that with any credit. Up there with some of the very worst displays I have ever seen (and like the rest of you, I've seen my share). Oh well...see you all at Brentford.
personally i feel that sort of result has been coming ,in recent weeks we havent been playing very well and wallsall deserved all 3 points ,not 1 player can say they played well today but simon francis im afraid was absolutely shocking ,the players thought all they had to do was turn up and we would get 3 points maybe like the brighton game its akick up the backside and has just reminded the players that there is alot of hard work left to do to gain promotion.
[cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]So busy on here after a loss yet so quiet after our unbeaten run til now.
Not strictly true, Dazzler. But your point is...well, what exactly?
When even the manager has felt he had to apologise for one of the worst Charlton performances in living memory, are we meant to stay silent?
There have actually been literally hundreds of positive posts during our unbeaten run and many , many people on here openly looking forward (possibly prematurely) to promotion.
Sorry, but today was an insult to the fans and anybody who was there is entitled to sound-off.

Agree pretty much except for making Walsall look good, i think they earned the right to look good as they competed, we didnt play well but we didnt compete. Walsall did the simple things effectively and deserved the result IMHO......

Dazzler, I'm struggling to understand your motivation for contributing to this discussion.
You started by making a second hand and, frankly, inaccurate judgement on the quality of our play, then pre-empted any negative opinion by getting a dig in at "the glass half empty brigade" and now you're digging out fans for having a moan on a chat forum. Something we're entitled to do after a performance like that.
We don't all agree with each other all the time. Get over it.
Shocking performance all round. Francis and the forwards especially. Really expected more when Reid and Martin came on, but nope, nuffink.
Yes this is the first loss in 12 but ,come on, we wouldn't have won on Thursday against any other team the way we played.
Need to regroup again. We have played well in most of those 12 games and the players haven't changed. Maybe they were cold.... Snoods all round on Tuesday :-)
We do have very few options that we can bring in to remedy todays game. I know I pick on Francis, but he really is shocking and must be dropped for Tuesday. But annoyingly we have no replacement.
Another team talk like after the Brighton game and hopefully we will be back on track.
just hoping parky has been watching re-runs of blackadder and got caught up in the fun with baldrick's 'i have a cunning plan' jokes and this performance was just a ruse to lull the opposition into a false sense of security. come on you reds! you've done you're bit for charity, now lets get on with getting promoted.

Thinking about it so should have most of the players. Woeful.
Oh well ... on to brentford.
Shame NSS has decided to renew his digs at Benno
Francis never had a clue in his role today
By the way, does anybody know why we changed shirts and not them? That was us in blue wasn’t it?

Elliott was clearly injured and probably wouldn't have played if we had another keeper
