wasn't there so can't comment on specifics. Looks like we may have found a striking partnership though, about time too. Another clean sheet was just as pleasing after recent shaky performances. Maybe Jackson is the answer on the left with Reid as an impact sub. Jackson offers more defensively if needed and has the knack, like Waggy, of being in the right place at the right time and popping up with crucial goals. Sounds from the commentary like there was a couple of times when it could have swung either way but we took our chances and they didn't. Well done to those that went. Long may it continue.
Well i'm loving life this morning. Who knows where we will be at the end of the season, but for the moment i'm going to sit back and bask in supporting a team which has won three games on the bounce.
3 wins in a row and the last away at a decent (last season) team, feels great doesn't it...
I personally thought that was the best team performance iv since since the better days in The Premiership.
The confidence was sky high, they played some brilliant stuff through the midfield, the crossing from the wings and set pieces was top draw and the finishing clinical (yes this is the same team from 3 weeks ago) and at the back we looked fairly solid.
Swindon appeared to be a shadow of the side that knocked us out the play offs but make no bones about it, we still had to beat them and truly ripped them apart last night. I dont fancy their chances of holding onto their seemingly only creative player in Charlie Austin.
So much pressure has been placed onto Kyel Reid and Lee Martins shoulders this season that its fantastic to see the team functioning so well without them, no disrespect to either player but without Reid the crossing is better and without Martin we are a team. It will be great to have them as subs. Only question is will they be happy to assume that role in the squad and for how long?
I would like to see Parkinson play this team whatever the match and whatever the competition. Confidence breeds confidence, dont make any changes now Parkinson let them play and continue to grow....
Had a five-fold on Utd, Rangers, Colchester, Brighton and Soton come in which was the icing on the cake after the news from Swindon.
Would like to see a strong side at Barnet personally - a win there keeps the momentum going and would make up in some way for last season's embarassment at Northwich - plus getting to the third round and a London Prem side at home could well be a new signing in the Jan window to strengthen the squad for the promotion push!

2% automatics 93% play offs 5% 7th or below
Weren't you saying 0% automatics a few weeks ago? You can't change from 0%, it's a figure you're stuck with. 2% is pretty silly as well. I'd be more like 20%/50%/30% myself.
Terrific performance last night, I'm still buzzing now. Definitely the best away performance I've witnessed since Curbs was in charge. Swindon looked a poor side but I think that partly came down to us making them look poor - we sort of did to them what Brighton did to us.
Robbie had to make a couple good saves in the first half and there was a little period where we were struggling to clear our lines but we were playing into a strong wind which was not making it easy for the back 4. Crucially though, we were still making chances at the other end and their keeper had to make two good saves from Waggy and Anyinsah plus a couple of dangerous crosses were cut out with players lurking for a tap in.
Second half we had the wind to our advantage and made it pay - Anyinsah's pace and wilingness to chase lost causes gave Swindon a massive headache (if you pressurise the pony defenders in this league then they make mistakes). At the other end, Swindon didn't really have a shot until 85mins+ when they fashioned a couple of chances, but it was job done by then. Solid at the back, dominant in midfield and threatening in attack - you can't ask for much more than that.
[cite]Posted By: harveys gardener[/cite]Very good performances, especially Joe, who on a number of occassions prevented their defence from clearing upfield and kept pressure on Swindon. For his goal there were in three Charlton shirts waiting to head the ball and only two defenders. Parky thought we loooked strong defensively - he must have been watching a different game to me and Docherty hoofed it long whenever the ball was at his feet, even when we were trying to play accross the backline. I'm loosing patience with this guy. There were numerous breakaways where the bounce of the ball didn't fall kindly for us, otherwise the win could have been bigger.
Seems churlish after three wins on the trott to be knocking Doherty, who is not my favourite player and I would have prefferred to have seen Fortune start, but we have kept two clean sheets against reasonable opposition and I would rather out centre halves hoofed it than played football and lost it in our own area.

Well that's a cracking post to read the morning after.I thought we were excellent on Sat, and it sounds like last night we were even better, which is hugely encouraging.
So what's changed?
1) We seem to have learnt how to play two decent halves, rather than only turning up for one.
2) We've found the knack of consistency.(Gelling, perhaps!)
3) We've found a strike pair that actually complement each other.
4) We've found the right balance in midfield, thanks to Jackson, and that allows Semedo and Racon to boss things like they bloody well oughta in this crap division.
5) Parky seems to have identified his best starting XI and that has given the side confidence.
As Choice alludes to, it's interesting that best XI doesn't include our two players you'd probably say have the most 'flair' - Martin and Reid. Agree with Choice that they're great subs, if the players concerned and the loaning club in Martin's case are content with that, at least until injuries/suspensions force Parky to make changes. But let's hope this starting XI can get a long and settled run.

Actually oohaah's Percentage Split is the first thing I look for after each game, personally I am surprised he has removed the relegation option bit pre-mature if you ask me :-)
"I am increasingly confident about our chances, look at that bench tonight: Fortune, Llera, McCormack, Sodje, Abbot. That's five top-line players for this division, all of them could step in and do a good job."
I love the way that players get better just by sitting on the bench.
Fortune and McCormack aside, the players on that bench have been described anywhere between "liability" to "useless" so lets not go overboard.
Credit where it's due, Parkinson seems to be playing a far more agressive style of football and certainly needs to be congratulated for turning it around from the Brighton game. Lets hope it continues.

Watching Sodje warm up at half time was embarrasing and hilarious in equal measures. He was basically standing in the middle of the box and trying to put Reidy crosses past Ally Mac in goal. Amoung other cheek reddening scuffs and skies, he managed to head a 3 yard header down into the ground and back onto the bar and when trying to side foot home a bouncing cross from 2 yards he managed to kick the ball into his own face from where it rebounded in. Only the warm up, I know, but still comically bad.

Leave it out man, we're all trying to be positive (for once)!! ;-)
[cite]Posted By: Fanny Fanackapan[/cite]Don't you realise the panto season has started , Exiled ????
It does make you wonder sometime sif they're missing on purpose!
It was no where near as embarassing as Swindons Chicken Robin Mascot doing a dance on the centre spot before kick-off - he looked short of match fitness to me as he was flagging badly after the first minute.
[cite]Posted By: smudge7946[/cite]Brilliant result!
Cant wait for the cup games now!
How did our awaty fans cope with 'the magic roundabout' traffic system next to the ground?
Is it as bad as its reputation?
oh yeah it was fun trust me
we were all over the place driving into town and on the way out got a bit excited trying to get across it on foot so much i turned my ankle over for yet another match day injury outside the fire station on the other side

Was that you Choice? I was the younger one of the two blokes walking past you when you did it, if you noticed us!
I think it is always worth having a look at the away teams supporters comments if you weren't at the game if you want to see how we played - of course you have to filter out the Charlton were nothing special - the only difference between them and us was that they wanted it more- they and the luck of the green comments and look at the they were 10 times better than us- they were very impressive- they totally outfought and out battled us ones from the honest fans how tell it as it is and don't choke on praising the opposition. On this basis, I could see that we played extremely well.

Agreed Muttley ... some interesting comments from Swindon fans:
- How many out there today would get in the Charlton team we played, only one for sure.
- Charlton were set up well, Parkinson has done well to rebuild their side considering the amount of key players that they lost in the summer.
- They looked like they wanted something from the game and outfought us in every area.
- The difference here is that Parkinson's brought players into the positions where they were most required. He's also clearly playing them where they should be playing and not out of position just to accommodate his favourites!
- Set up extremely well, Semedo in the middle ran the game and every time they went forward they looked like scoring. Our defence couldn't deal with Aniyinsah running at them.
- Charlton were a physically strong and reasonably quick side.
I have also just spoken to a Swindon fan colleague who went and he's an honest sort - He was very complimentary - said they looked they more dangerous in the first half but he knew a lot of that was assisted by a strong wind at their backs. He thought we played the conditions well though and when we went in 1 up and half time he knew they were definitely going to lose. He said Swindon failed to play the conditions as well and that was as comprehensive a beating at the County Ground as they have had for a while. He was very impressed with us and tipped us for automatic. He thought Elliot, Anyinsah and Semedo were very impressive but added that all of ours looked good players. They did have a few players out but he was nice enough to say that they would still have lost to us but maybe not so comprehensively.
Have to utterly commend the team on an excellent win. That goes for all of them, absolutely love to see Fry and Wagstaff get an assist each. Those who are quick to abuse Wagstaff should feel repentent now. He has to keep going but there is only one player of the season atm and that is Waggy.
Saw Danny Wilson's comment and it made me laugh. We bullied them?????? That's great to hear, but if Swindon are getting bullied by us they're in for a very poor season. Thought Paynter would be a big loss because they were so awful at making quick breaks, he was their only option when they went long. Obviously losing Greer's been as big a blow as well. We should be thankful that Parky's made pragmatic signings, who seem to be more competitive and offer different options than last season. Brighton or not I rate this squad, and setup well we should be one of the best away teams in the league.
Bravo Parky and all in the team, including Racon..... can't wait to get to the next home match.
Think he was thinking about Semedo, Anyinsah and Benson. Anyinsah is a big bully, a fair bully but he does use his superior pace and strength to his and the team's advantage. From what I have seen, i think defenders playing against him should wear darker shorts.
Fantastic result and sounds like we battered them even though they were trying to snap our players in half with the ref having forgot his appointment at specsavers.
Well done to the players and PP. Great turnaround on the back of Brighton and keep dishing up the humble pie as it's going down a treat with me.
Great result. Great three results. I have no problem eating humble pie but I am not munching just yet. I saw enough even before the Brighton shambles over many months to get carried away just yet. Yes we are now cruising but that is what I and many other were saying should be the case with the squad we have. My slice of humble pie is in the fridge covered with cling film for a little while longer yet. If I get to eat it I will never have been so pleased.

set out a team in an offensive manor reading his team talk on the OS.
Made the right decision by keeping the 11 on the pitch that had done business.
Shame that we are in the cup for the next 2 i just hope he doent tinker with the squad now
has Mcleod started for Barnet yet
Well done PP
Exactly the same as Norwich last year ......

It appears, once again, that Anyinsah and Benson brought the best out of each other and that the midfield turned up.
Keep it going!
Oh and Jacko was an appropiate man to get the 5,000th goal. Hardworking, underrated and often unjustifiably slagged off.
Something of a metaphor for Charlton Athletic the club throughout its history.
