  • Great result. Sounds like the team is gelling and with Anyinsah and Benson forming what appears to be a potent partnership it bodes well. Haven't been able to get to matches so far this season for various reasons. Its going to be an interesting season with several teams in with a shout.

    COYR CTID!
  • Just got in from work and WOW! what a fantastic surprise to see we had won 3-0. I went for a 1-0 win on the pre-match thread saying I hoped Benson/Anyinsah partnership was begining to work and the team was starting to 'gel'. I've read the match thread and all comments on this thread and it reads as though we played really well and took the game to them. Well done Parky and the team, 3 wins on the spin and 2 clean sheets. Looking forward to tuning in on Saturday.
Well done and I hope the hardy 400 that went enjoyed the game and the journey home.
  • Great win - wish I'd gone now, but due to circumstances I couldn't make it. I will be at the next 3 away games (Barnet, Southend & Peterborough)

I hope Parky doesn't change the team too much for the 2 cup games - this team is just starting to gel and nothing breeds confidence like winning, so I hope Parky only tinkers with it.............no wholesale changes please.
  • Fantastic result. Praise for Semedo, Elliot and Anyinsah especially in the Swindon forum.

Kap10, I like the graphic and thanks for putting it together, but I'm a bit confused about your substitutions. I agree on Notts County = Gillingham (best team relegated last year replaced by the best team promoted) and Bournemouth=Wycombe, but think it should be
    Sheff Wed = Norwich
    Peterborough=Millwall
    and Dagenham = Stockport.

If you made those changes, we'd be doing even better, since we lost at home to Norwich last season.

Well done to everyone who went , I'm pleased for you , it's not a fun place to go to , is there a cloud 10? Because tonight I'm on it!

Am really pleased the players have responded positively after Brighton and try and wipe it from our memories.

Pleased for Benson ( easy target as he got off to a slowish start) onion sets as
I call him who has pace to burn , and you can't fault for effort , and Johnny Jackson , who in
My opinion is better and more comfortable at left
    Mid than at left back

He's keeping Kyle Reid on his toes , which i think is really good for the team
I agree that Barnet away we need to try and create more
Competition and headaches by giving Akpo , Johnny Fortch , Martin ( for Wagstaff , who I'd rest) and Abbot for
Benson, as well as McCormack for Racon?

Before tonights game I predicted that I would be happy with 2 wins , 1 draw, and 1 defeat from the next 4 away
games , I really hope I'm wrong ! And we do much better than that!
  • For those who went to the game, can any of you answer the question everyone wants to know....what FIFA 11 celebrations did our players do tonight?
  • Erm , sorry but can't answer that one, RR....as I know zilch about FIFA 11.

Have to agree with everything Red Pete said with Smokin' Joe definitely my MOM.

We looked so confident on the ball tonight and battled hard to win it back when we'd lost possession. Racon, once again was ultra impressive .

    Long may it continue.

[cite]Posted By: mascot88[/cite]if only souhtampton hadnt fired pardew!!

who'd ever have thought that getting a new manager would be a such good idea though?

Money to splash them lot.. weve got no money at all...

and who would swap our Parkie for anyone on current form???

    Not me thats for sure...
  • All the lads played great tonight apart from maybe Francis! Racon kept up his good form and Ayinsah well he was immense. Putting himself about, never stopped running, showed real passion as did they all tonight. Although Swindon were dire.
  • [cite]Posted By: Red_Pete[/cite]Just home from Wiltshire. Delighted to watch a very professional performance from the lads tonight. The wind was very, very strong and blowing straight down the pitch. We struggled when playing against it in the 1st half and Robbie had to make a couple of very good saves from Charlie Austin. When we did manage to clear our lines, however, we looked good all over the pitch. 2nd half, playing with the wind, was much easier and we totally controlled the game until we took our foot off the pedal in the last 10 minutes as we saw the game out.

Highlight was probably Robbie's 95 yard wind-assisted pass to Waggy to cross for Benson to head in the 3rd goal. I've never seen Robbie celebrate a goal so enthusiastically as he ran round his team mates accepting the plaudits for the assist! LOL.

All 11 players were excellent tonight, but MOTM has to be Joe Anyinsah. He chased everything and scared the life out of the Swindon defenders.

Swindon battled hard throughout, but we just had that extra touch of class in eveything we did. Parky shook the hand of every single player as they left the pitch and got some big hugs in return. As no substitutes were made tonight, I fully expect a few of tonight's team to be rested for the cup game on Saturday.

    COYR!!

    Quality mate....

    Really enjoyed reading that!!

We where really great tonight, had a good evening out,

Best fun iv had on a coach before, was really funny some real jokers on the coach from bexley

Benson and Joe where faultless upfront, Joe chased evey ball got a corner out of nothing and got a well deserved goal,

Benson chased alot, got on the end of balls, great finnish for the 3rd goal,

Jackson was solid, had a great game, and a good goal

Mid Solid, Fry played well, Robbie done well in goal as well,

Great performence, helps put the pain of the playoff's behind a little bit

Have a good feeling after that, Just gotta keep going strong,

    COYR!
  • I think Parky will play fringe players against Barnet and a stronger side at Southend. I'd like to see Abbott and Sodje up front -McCormack and Martin in the middle and Fortune and Llera at the back - maybe draft Mambo in so we can play 3 at the back and rest Fry -think we can still win the game- a big risk but in all honesty winning and losing a key player to injury would upset me far more than losing with our reserves. Of course winning with our reserves is the first choice.
  • Well done to the 429(pathetic numbers) who made the long trip to swindon , you got what you deserved
Fairplay to parky and co for getting this squad to reach its maximum and well done to the back 5 two clean sheets is impressive and long may it continue mr elliot:-)
Just wish there was no cup games in the way, so we can continue this great run ..... Still it gives our new ground/day trippers a chance to see the team within the M25
As stated previously I think brighton and soton are certs fro automatic as are we certs for the play offs
    2% automatics 93% play offs 5% 7th or below

  • Question to anyone that went:

On Sky Sports' text commentary, it kept coming up: Charlton have the edge: key player: Jose Vitor Semedo.

But noones mentioned him as such yet, just wandered how him and Racon played?

    Cheers.
  • great result things are starting to look up ,its not very often i say this because im normally slating parkinson ,but here goes well done parky they say sometimes in football a little luck changes everything and we had some at carlise so hopefully our season is starting to get going long may it continue.
  • Oohah just how is 429 that bad? Midweek away game and we are a league 1 team!
  • Don't bother Dazzler, OohAhh thinks we are still in the premier league.
  • I just can't understand how a man who openly admits to not going to away games finds it so easy to slate our away support?

Semedo was excellent and pretty much controlled the midfield. Racon also covered a lot of ground and, with JJ getting stuck in too, we gave ourselves a good midfield platform. The thing is that everyone played well last night, so Semedo didn't stand out as much as in earlier games this season.

JVS was by far my man of the match. He bossed it from start to finish. Racon was as good as Saturday but was overshadowed by perfomances from Semedo and Joe

So what if we "only" had 429 there.
I don't know if you moan about our away support (every away game) just to get a reaction but to be honest it gets right on my t*ts.
Instead of slagging off our away support just congratulate the ones that went and be happy that we won 3-0 away.

To be fair he did congratulate those that went and does seems happy for him. He's slagging off those of us who stayed at home, including himself!

    Thanks to both.

That is good news. I'm starting to think that Johnny Jackson playing LM is giving Racon and Semedo more confidence and the midfield has a better balance.

Although I rate Reid highly (for his attacking capabilities) there are too many times when he leaves a big hole there that pulls Racon and Semedo out of position.

I've never met oohaah but if thats him being happy I'd hate to see him miserable.

I think you are spot on. I said it four or five weeks ago that Reid and Martin whilst playing well upset the balance of the team and when not playing well are passengers. The strength we have now is that if wagstaff and jackson are off form they still contibute which as you quite rightly say allows Racon and Semedo to be a little more aggressive in terms of forward play in their approach.
  • Fantastic result and exceptional preparation to go into Peterborough on the back of 3 straight wins. Hopefully now Barnet and Southend will provide a bit of a enjoyable distraction from the league.

Sounds look a superb 90 minute performance, absoultely delighted and Parky should get a lot of credit for pulling us out of the mire from Brighton. We have a brilliant squad and hope some consistency can be found now.
  • We were outstanding, in fact i think parkinson and the os report were a tad harsh on us! Swindon were absolutely woeful, apart from charlie austin. We went shaky for the last 20mins of the first half, but once the second went in at the start of the second half we completely bossed the game. Anyinsah was my MOM, chased everything, not only is he fast but he is very strong too. Great back header for his goal. Benson is the real deal, keep serving up chances and he'll keep scoring. Fry and JJ give us so much balance down the left hand side. Semedo was very combative, wagstaff full of running, and Doherty won absolutely everything in the air. All in all a great night out, great performance, and hopefully i don't have to go to that abortion of a town for many years to come! Only annoying moment was that bloke missing the sitter to make it 1-3 and pay for my trip away today!

Very good performances, especially Joe, who on a number of occassions prevented their defence from clearing upfield and kept pressure on Swindon. For his goal there were three in Charlton shirts waiting to head the ball and only two defenders. Parky thought we loooked strong defensively - he must have been watching a different game to me and Docherty hoofed it long whenever the ball was at his feet, even when we were trying to play accross the backline. I'm loosing patience with this guy. There were numerous breakaways where the bounce of the ball didn't fall kindly for us, otherwise the win could have been bigger.
  • Top night
I was worried Austin would have a field day with our two old boys at the back, and to be fair he could have had a hat trick in the first half, but Robbie made a couple of great saves and we gradually took control . Samedo was awesome and Jackson gives us so many options in his new role. Joey run them ragged throughout whilst Benson flitted in and out of proceedings . Wagstaff was very dangerous in second half and we could have had a few more, but a great result and we looked stronger and fitter than them .

Wished we could buy Austin though , the bloke has that quality we could do with
