[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]I said on the previuos page'so we can't have an old has been and we can't appoint a first timer and we can't afford the comp for someone like tisdale'so I give you - Dean Holdsworth.
Good shout, he might even bring Lindsey Dawn McKenzie along for a bit of soft-porn action, if that doesn't get our lot going then nothing will!!!
The only coaching that I have ever seen Holdsworth involved in was when he was on TV coaching Rod Stewart on the randy old bugger's private pitch, although I think he has been doing non-League stuff, hasn't he?
showing your ingnorance I'm afraid. He took Newport County up to the Conference last season winning the title by a country mile, getting over a 100 pts and scoring a hatful of goals. This season Newport are third in the Conference and beat big spending Crawley Town on their own patch at the weekend. Very soon he'll be a Manager in the football league.

Calm down, Sport! The coverage of the Conference is not exactly wall-to-wall here in sunny Queensland, hence my "ignorance" of Mr. Holdsworth's current coaching status.
I knew he was coaching somewhere in the non-League but didn't know the details, I will remind myself to take a far deeper interest in the Conference from now on - we may well be playing there soon ourselves anyway.
Everyone points to the successes that have been had by taking a gamble on a first-time manager but I'm sure there are plenty of times gambles have been made and gone wrong, we just don't hear so much about them because, well, it was expected, not big news. If it comes off, great, if it doesn't I would rather have someone whose been around and knows what they're doing over someone chucked in at the deep end with no experience.
As for Di Canio, yes he might get a bit of passion from the players but I for one can see him doing a Maradona manager wise, and that would only put us back even further.
yeah, sorry Ormy, ignorance was too strong a word to use esp with you being down-under too. You are better off there believe me, here you'd be tempted to go down The Valley and that ain't a great day out at the moment !!

IF Parky goes, then i would see this as a good shout ... financially should not hurt us so much as other options and he is doing some exciting stuff with the kids.

Not wrong there, my first action on a Sunday morning is to blearily reach for my phone and check the Charlton score, if we win I spring out of bed with great gusto and feel that all is right with the world.
On Sunday I just took one look at the score and put my head back under the covers and refused to face the world for another hour!
Please come on stop saying this tell me the good points of Parkinson tell me why he should stay for football reasons not we can not afford it. We can not afford not too is the counter to that.
Tell me why he should stay, based on what facts and what footballing reason.. stop sitting on the fench and put your statements out there for people to read and chew over.
my reasons for going.
Failed to keep us in the championship
Was in charge for the worst run of results i can remember
Failed to beat Northwich
Failed to gain promotion
Jonjo Shelvey
Darren Randolph
Chris Solly
all youth players shit on by parkinson
Simon Francis
Paul Benson
Pawell Abbott
Doherty
Playing shite football devoid of ideas, Instinct, creativity passion
failed to beat some cack teams already and then the debarcle that was Saturday
How about Paul Scholes or Ryan Giggs as a player manager? lol, seriously though maybe a player - preferably a striker from a higher level who is getting on a bit but can still cut it - any out there?
Please can we have a manager with experience. Not a 'dinosaur' but somebody with a track record. Experience counts for a lot in management and how we've lacked it over the last 5 years.
Why not Glynn Snowden, knows the club, led our reserves to their respective title, although currently employed as No.2 at Leeds and a Leeds fan might want to cut his managerial teeth with us.
Phil Neville. I guess no chance of prizing him away from a playing career at Everton but I reckon he will be a very good manager. Seems an intelligent, well spoken chap with huge experience from the playing side and was under Fergie & Moyes so must have picked up some good tips. Maybe one for the future anyway.
Personally though I would give it to Chris Powell, Micky Adams, Megson or Lennie.
TBH my Sunday league manager would be better than Parky.
If we have a potential investor seriously looking at us as Mutley suggests then if it happens, it will obviously make a huge difference on the selection of the next manager. This will probably buy Parky a bit of time i guess.
[cite]Posted By: I-SAW-POUSO-PLAY[/cite]Please no1 with Palace connections! have we not learnt?
This.
Can't believe after the last couple of years that people would be willing to contemplate having another Nigel in charge.
Some of the names on this list are truly horrifying. Phil Brown - more ego than Pardew, nearly as orange as Simon Jordan. Someone's even suggested Dennis Wise - I'd rather put Robert Mugabe in charge, similar temperament but without the Millwall history.
It's a very bleak list, almost everyone on it is out of work for a very good reason. Just hope Curbs is starting to feel a bit sentimental.

Phil Brown - I know he very unlikeable but maybe we someone like him.

Also think Poyet would come to us - we're a much bigger club than Brighton and he'd also turn us around.
Dean Holdsworth, potentially - give him a couple more seasons.
Gary Johnson for me.
"There is no alternative out there"
"There is no better option"
"Is there a better option"
