Why was the brentford disallowed goal ruled out , that stopped me leaving early booooooooo
  • i went today, and i have a few points. fortune and doherty doesn't work together. fry looked jittery at left back. francis is a twat, im sorry i dont usually resort to this but if he's a pro footballer my names marco van basten! Elliot wasn't fit, and worner was rated a 9 by all the papers last week and got dropped, what does that say about our belief in him? Semedo is a brilliant bloke, but i am beginning to think pressure is getting to him, he looks a shadow of the semedo we all saw last year. Racon was actually a slight plus point but still misplaced simple passes far too much. Martin deserved to come off at half time he had no end product, kept trying stupid flicks even when we were 2 nil down, and looked like a very poor player. Benson worked hard but simply wasn't good enough, fouls too much and doesn't shoot. Wagstaff was rubbish first half but got better and is our most natural finisher. Jackson had a poor game, gave the ball away and hasn't got a clue with his positioning. Reid was more effective and got a couple of good crosses in, but still doesn't look like the player from last season. Abbott was our best player (lord help us) and was pretty dangerous all 2nd half. However the penalty claim when it dropped at the 6 yard box should have been a goal, he was too busy throwing his arms up to poke it in. Sodje also looked dangerous, but now looks like he done his knee in so were even lighter up front now.
  • I hate Paul Benson
  • WTF do they do all week. They have had nearly 2 months to gel and haven't. 12 goals in 10 games is a shocking return at this level. It will not improve until the club employ a specialist striker coach. WTF can former defenders parkinson and breaker give to our forwards because the way the forwards have been playing they are showing no confidence at all and I can't see it improving

We're only 2 points off 3rd and 1 off the play-offs. We're a working progress, we played some decent football in the second half at times (although it couldn't have got any worse) we have to take the positives and move on. However that first half performance was disgraceful. We have to get that out of our system and move on. Things need changing I know that as well but once we get Youga and Solly back fit and playing the better. To be honest that can't come soon enough right now. The next 6 games are really tough and we're going to have to be very solid and be a team in these fixtures if we want to be in and around the position we're in now. Things were better in the second half after Parky had his team talk. Kinsella and Breaker looked clueless on the touch-line. Reidy has to start next game, but the best is yet to come. We'll be up there and we'll get there. In the end.

BTW, Breaker was a full-back, Parky was a centre midfielder not a defender.
  • if it's going to cost £50k to get rid of Parky, let's set up a just giving page.
  • An absolute farce.

    Foul throws for fuck sake.

Seen us live for the first and second time this week, and deary deary me. Literally a joke of a team. No shape, no effort, basic errors.

Not even the beer is helping.
  • Depressing even watching the Championship right now.
  • Thought we looked quite good ..... light blue shirts black shorts and red socks.

    Other than that:-

Brentford not scored two in a game this season, 2nd scorers first goal for 13 months, 4 goals in 9!!!!!!!!
  • [cite]Posted By: Kap10[/cite]light blue shirts black shorts and red socks.

One player had white socks on, what a shambles

  • Players who come out of that match with some credit:
    Therry Racon

Players I am not angry at:
    Kyel Reid
    Pawel Abbott

Brentford deserved to win by more.

If it makes anyone feel better about missing out on Davies, I've seen Forest this season and they are playing cack football too. Not as bad as the display in West London, though, yet.
  • Brentford are a poor poor team,
They were waiting to be rolled over in the second half but our punchless toothless non finishing forwards couldn't score if they played all night
Semedo has reverted to the shit crab footballer I thought he was, last season apart (when he was outstanding) he has been a proper nothing footballer
And as per usual the players not in the team mythically become even better and better cos once solly and youga are back we'll walk this league

    .
  • I pray and hope that we will win a game 3-0 this season and dominate for a full 90 minutes. That's never going to happen is it? Did we do it last season, can't recall any such games, so why do we persist with a manager who is not capable of motivating a team that can get a result like this? The slow death of our club continues!

'Brentford are a poor poor team'
'i'm just grateful that brentford were really crap'

Bees fan here, just wondered what exactly you base this statement on?
True we were bottom of the league, but only after 9 games and with pretty much a completely new squad, which clearly takes a little while to gel together.
Whilst our league form has not been crash hot, we still turned over sheff wed at home, hull city and everton in league cup, and we have just beaten you 2-1.

If we were that poor to lead you 2-0 at half time, you must be relegation material.

Good luck for the rest of the season, I' m sure you will be up there, hope we are too!
  • Brentford 2nd from bottom and a very poor team, who controled the first half so totaly we only had a shot on goal in the 45th min. They deserved to win.

One of ours left at half time and most of us left with 20mins to go -----------------very depressing. Alot of talk about not going any more in the pub..

    The boat ride was good.

My feeling is that the board are not so much pleased with Parky but terrified of making another recruitment mistake.

I believe this could well be a major factor influencing RM's thinking ATM. Hence the need for him to consult with highly knowledgable football people such as Keith Peacock, Curbs or even Lennie before making a new appointment. I think this is likely to have been the reason we now find ourselves in such a dreadful position. Whilst Curbs was around such a person wasn't required, but it seems that since Curbs departed, RM's decision making on footballing matters has been dreadful.
KP for Director of football ASAP!
  • Just thought I would make my regular weekly contribution:

    1) The recognised strikers are not scoring.
    2) Once again we have dropped points to "bottom of the table" side

This was suggested by the fans forum about 18 months ago, it didn't go down too well.

What is disturbing is that while we are patiently waiting for the team to ''gel''', we currently seem to be moving in the opposite direction.

Almost half our season's tally of 15 pts came in the first three matches and were in the bag by Aug 21.

In the six weeks since then, we've got 8 pts from 7 games which suggests a distinct lack of any forward motion...

Parky and Breaker have both told us that the team will get better as players bed in. But there has not been the faintest hint of it yet, versus Tranmere, D&R and Brentford or even in the fortuitous wins v Notts County and MK Dons. I dont want to seem impatient. But I think we are entitled to ask how long it is estimated we will have to wait before we notice the first signs of this promised ''gelling'' .
  • Everything will look a little brighter when Anyinsah is back, i really have a strong belief that he will do well for us! :-) i hope!

So does that mean the rest of the team will finally start playing football? I would put my money on 11 premier leaque reserve goalkeepers playing us off the park at the moment.

Good point, i know ive only mentioned 1 player here, but in regards to better attack he will help im sure. But yeah i would agree with the goalkeeper comment actually.

I actually felt sick that we lost yday and lost in such a bad mannor. I was ashamed to be a charlton fan yesterday (1st time i have ever felt it, coz i would normally be kissing the badge after and thinking oh well bad result but we tryed!) But when the team dont even really try it hurt! :-(

I really hope in a few weeks, we all be laughing on here talking about how bad charlton WAS! whilst having 3 straight wins and up in 3-4th position. Ill even wish for it for christmas of santa (i hope hes a charlton fan 2)
  • So, in summary, Youga,Solly and Anyinsah are going to miraculously turn the team into Champions or contenders.....I think you need to look a might deeper to find the root cause of our current batch of underachievers.
  • Didn't go so can't comment on the actual game but we are now 10 league games in, usually a good marker of how a team does over a season.

So far just not good enough to win games or even play well consistently and that is very worrying. Yes, there have been injuries and suspensions and many new players needing to gel but too many players seem unable to perform well for a whole 90 mins or week to week.

Docherty, Martin and Benson in particular IMHO haven't played to their potential but others will point to other players who should carry the can but over all this group (you still can't call them a team) just aren't showing that they have what is needed.

This is Parky's team, his transfers, his selection and his tactics. Orient and Bournemouth showed there is no lack of "spirit" but something is missing.

Is the answer to sack Parky? I really don't know. I can see what he is trying to do, he's bought in some good players but they aren't performing and the team isn't doing it. While the guys on the park have to take a lot of the blame for that the buck has to stop with the manager.

Thank Gawd I'm working in Wales and then have some business to sort out in Birmingham most of the coming week as I don't think Charlton Life is going to be a fun place to be over the next few days.

Be careful, Henry. Tories in town for their annual party conference. Probably best not to go out after dark...

Good point, get some garlic and carry a stake at all times.
  • Really am bored of wasting money on this. Same thing everyone else was saying yesterday, they are just bored of this current team and management. Same old same old again yesterday, can't create any chances or anything of any note against the bottom team and deservedly lost the game within 30 mins. Just boring.
  • If you want an insight into what is being worked on in training (or not, as the case may be) look no further than our dead ball routines. When did we last score from a free Kick? OK Big Mig got one towards the end of last season, but only due to a terrible goalkeeping error. There is absolutely no inventiveness or imagination in our play, it's no wonder we are so easy to defend against. That is down to poor coaching and poor management. Even in far weaker leagues such as the A league here in Oz we see some great goals scored from free kicks.
