  • Abbott and Sodje don't really suit each other, and I thought Abbott was the better of the pair, but good goal, got himself there, and took it well.

McCormack was excellent, so that'll piss off the brothers dim, Semedo deserved the card, Solly good, and the CB were cool and calm.

Need a speedy striker, but I'll take 46 1-0 wins
  • Blimey that was a good game to start the season.

Make no mistake we would have certainley drawn and maybe lost last season with ten men. Shows the difference (hopefully) that we didnt.

Before semedo got sent off we were looking like we'd cruise a win. Really incisive play, direct passing even quick on the break. Our defending looked pretty solid. Someone needs to have a word with semedo.

Reid was ace and really is everything that Sam would never be. Brilliant and my man of the match.

Akpo was ok with others alongside but not that good on his own.

    Solly was good.

Mckenzie, despite looking like the trainee at the standard fish bar (get up there and have a look, he is the spit) was a good substitute for the ginger whinger bailey and did his job really well.

Elliot had a confident game but his kicking was poor.

    Lee Martin looks really good.

Up front this season we have quite a few lads who will be able to go past players, just need to finish.

All in all, before the sending off we looked really good. After the sending off I was impressed with how we coped.

I think more than any others this is now parkys team and they are now playing FOR the manager. Fingers crossed for the rest of the season.

Well played game imo, to be honest it was clear that this team hadn't really played together properly, yet they did well, 3 players stood out for me, Solly, To be truthful i was expecting him to be absoloute crap but he completely proved me wrong, kyel reid, although he needs to be kept on a leash as he frequently appeared in the most bizarre out of position places, and finally lee martin i can see has a lot of potential and i reckon hes gonna be one of this seasons players to watch

We dominated play for a lot of the first half and should've scored more. We need a striker!

Having said that, a win is a win, so well done the lads!

Thought the ref was shocking, but seemed to be equally bad for both sides.
  • of course i meant McCormack
  • Really impressed, played really well first half and defended brilliantly in the 2nd.

Akpo was excelland today, held the ball up well, won all his headers and closer the defense down. Run himself into the ground and deserved his goal for his hard work. No real combination play with Abbott but if they continue to play together that'll come with time.

Couple of real flair players (Reid & Martin) and a solid centre, i think we'll have a decent season.
  • Team of strangers at times but what did we expect given the time spent together. I will praise Akpo. Goal and worked hard. Solly man of match saw enough to make me think we will eventually have a good team but I think patience will be needed. Liked look of Martin in short cameo and thought Abbot did ok. Thought central midfield was our problem today even before Semedo went. Three points and better to come.
  • Martin really looked like he was enjoying himself and at times was taking the p1ss out of the Bournemouth defense.

Reid. Really quick today. Where we have lacked creativity over the last few seasons I think we may now have some.
  • Just on my way out but have to add.

The ref was poor for all.

same standard of reffing as last year it looks like

    up the addicks.......
  • Stupidly comfortable in the first half. Akpo should have had another - but we have to expect him to miss everything as Large keeps telling us he is shocking. What is that now? 7 goals in 11 starts?.

Not sure where McCormack has been hiding all summer but was very impressed today.

Reid quality but faded badly towards the end.

Not convinced by Jackson at left back. Hopefully it wont be long term.

    Wagstaff was totally anonymous.

Abbott and Sodje isnt the best partnership.

Ref was hopeless. We didnt get a decision 2nd half.
  • and as for Arter? Petulant little boy. Thought he was cack.

  • agree with shooters hill, good players but not yet a good team. But that will come.

Macca was good and much better than jose all game. Jose dived in but not sure if it was a red.

1st half all us. 2nd couldn't relieve pressure even before sending off but bournemouth never looked likely to score

Elliot was solid and caught aall the crosses he came for.
  • Not as big a a win as I would have wanted but a solid performance with a load of new recruits on the first game of the season will do.

Really impressed with Solly today, when we went down to 10 I expected him to be targeted but he was even more comfortable after that. Reid as well was very good and our main outlet, Sodje and Abbott didn't really work together and it guarantees hoof ball unfortunately despite neither of them playing particularly poorly, seemed a bit better when Martin went upfront.

Not sure if Semedo's was a red or yellow but it was stupid regardless.
  • Reid will be key to success this season, also Lee Martin does look like he could be just as important as Reid, positional sense was great and ball control also very good, but wouldnt expect anything else from a fellow Bromley boy :-)
  • Solid display. Never looked like conceding.

Both centre halves look good and give me confidence. Solly was excellent at full back too.

McCormack looks like one of those midfielders who is always in the right place at the right time. Reid was amazing first half and less impressive in the second.

Abbott looked ok, and Sodje was decent until he played on his own.

Overall, quite promising. Only disappointment for me was Wagstaff.
  • It was pretty obvious they haven't played as a team much so far but if they get time to get used to each other there's the making of a very good team in there.
  • I really liked the look of McCormack, on the basis of today, he will be a great signing. Martin is obviously very skilful, though I'm not sure if that can be harnessed into goals/assists. Only time will tell.

Can tell this season is going to be a fun one, and with Reidy, Martin, Wagstaff (and Jackson to a lesser extent), we will play some good stuff and be entertaining to watch.

    Very promising
  • veryt satisfying 3 points,

Semedo followed through and his studs were showing, Red card i dont think so but i knew it was going to come out..

I thought Abbot looked ok nothing spectacular but with the right player next to him i reckon he will shake us up a few goals

Akpo missed a sitter but then got on the end of another reidy special needs to put in a bit more of a shift if we have to play with 10

    Solly outstanding all game

Reidy wonderful and i am glad he is back

Doc got better as the game went on

Daily didnt put a foot wrong

    Mcormack had a great game

all in all i am really happy tonight
  • Happy with the performance. What I like is that the team looks does look like it needs to gel together, with players still to completely understand eachothers strengths. A big comparison to the year we were relegated to the championship and begun the season with a number of easy, one-sided games.
  • to be honest, i didn't know who was who half the time...a promising performance but i think we were lucky bournemouth were clueless...3 points, a clean sheet, 16k...a good start...
  • Good win, though we will come up vs better sides than Bournemouth don't think they made make a save.

Abbott looked useful, said before Sodje will score a few as he has done for us. He will also miss a few though.

Wagstaff ineffective from the start again, people were pleased we got rid of Sam but Waggy just isn't up to starting a game.

All in all good result better to come hopefully and does Semedo's red mean he misses Shrewsbury? Not sure it was a red anyway.

  • Not a bad performance but nothing special either but to be expected with all the new players.
Thought the ref was appalling as was Bournemouth.

Man of the match for me was Solly.
Reid was the only class on the pitch.
I thought Mcormack looked good also.

We won't really see how good this side is until we come up against one of the better sides and looking at the fixture list that is quite a while off.
  • 1-0, I'll take that.

Semedo's was NEVER a red card. NEVER. I was disgusted; despite his studs showing I'm sure he bent his knees to try and pull out; also, he played the ball (though if it's violent conduct that's different e.g. Gary Neville).

Elliot - solid, he had little to do. One shot he palmed away could have been held I think but given he had nothing to do up til then by way of shot stopping I'll let him off that.

Solly - very very good display. Think he needs to, well, grow, because I'm worried by his physical presence but Bournemouth weren't that awesome today, so he shined. Got a brain.

Jackson - wasn't too great. Think he would thrive in a midfield position. He wasn't exactly troubled though, and the fort was indeed held for a clean sheet.

Dailly and Doherty both had steady games. Won most headers, cleared and generally did their jobs. Very tidy.

Waggy - a little anonymous for me today. Could definitely do better.

Reid - wanked all over Bournemouth first half, and looked to be able to do anything. But then he got tired and faded. Still did very well. He could be unstoppable this season.

Semedo - thought he was okay, quiet until being sent off, enforcing as he usually does. I found the card to be very harsh as I said.

McCormack - did very well. Good tackler, a not-stupid (not to say intelligent) footballer who made the right pass at the right time in setting up Reid for Akpo's goal. Wasn't too rash as we may have suspected.

Abbott - I thought he was industrious, a presence, but got very little reward for it. Maybe he needs to sharpen up slightly but I felt very little broke his way.

Sodje - to quote Football Manager: "He grabbed himself a goal, fair play to the lad"... but he was pretty ineffectual. We need a different type of striker, to be blunt. Then Abbott/X or Sodje/X could work.

Martin - decent, skilful, perhaps only looked so because he was fresh. Sometimes forgot we had 10 men and was too attacking at points given the situation. But encouraging.

Francis - didn't exactly do much, and none of that badly. We'll see; I think he'll be good for us though.

Racon - didn't exactly do much; I suppose he shored up the midfield with Semedo's red.

All in all I'd say that my MOM was Solly for his general performance - but Reid in his moments looked the best. We need a striker, match fitness, and for the team to bond.
  • Elliott - Came out and caught what needed to be caught. Made a couple of good saves, not much else to do.

Solly - Excellent. Really impressed with him today. Got stuck in and moves the ball around well.
Doherty - Steady and solid. Looked like he had partnered Dailey for years
    Dailey - See above
Jackson - Did well. Dead balls look more deadly than previous takers. They look like they are being aimed at a target.

Wagstaff - One of his better starts. I say that because he is normally so much better off the bench. But did well and has pace.
Semedo - I'd like to see the sending off again coz it looked 50/50 to me, but other than that played very well.
McCormack - One or two superb tackles. Gets stuck in. When he gets knocked down gets straight back up again. No rolling around which i liked.
Reid - How that guy wasn't being carried off the pitch at the end from fatigue i've no idea. Looked like he really enjoyed today.

Sodje - Missed a sitter then scores from an almost identical. I agree with others that he was far more affective when there were 2 up top.
Abbott - His positioning is good. Once Reid, Wagstaff and Abbott get an understanding i think he could be very useful.

Racon - Nice moves when he came on.
Martin - Considering it was his first game he looked ready if a little off pace. Should be an exciting guy to watch.
Francis - Did ok. Didn't really have a lot to do.

MOM - Hard one to call for me between Solly and Red. Solly was brilliant, Reid was such an attacking threat. Probably Solly just edges it for me.

Overall - A promising start to the season. Whether two big guys up front will work i'm not sure, but time will tell. I expected more from Bournemouth to be honest. Arter was a disgrace. Diving all over the place and whinging.
  • The boys done good. Pleased with the points. Three points with 10 men is always a good achievment.

Caught in the smog in moscow but this has cheered me right up!

Apologies to admin as this isn't a post match view as such, but I guess that my view can be COYR! Great start!
  • Thought that Solly, Reid and Semedo played well, and we did well to lock out the opposition albeit that they were at best an average side even for this league.

As most of the Charlton team had hardly played together as a unit, not too many issues as a team perfornance, although at 80 minutes we looked a bit deep, and just kicking the ball out of defence needed to be a little more considered. The sending off of Semedo looked harsh, but like Wenger 'I will have to see the replay'.......

A win is a win, liked the look of Martin, but some fans may think he 'showboats' a bit too much, but I love those players that can show flair, providing it results in an end product!
For a new team, when we pass the ball we looked a decent team, with some good players. and of course 3 points.......
  • happy with the commitment solly was class.
  • Lets hope we see plenty more of this this season!

  • And less of this. Should never have been sent off.

  • Robbie 7, clean sheet, stepped up well when we had pressure late on.
Solly 8 MOM good positional play, good decision making, quick decision making, tenacious, good throw ons, a couple of passes put pressure on teammates, but overall very good today.
Dailly 7.5 Class work, so reliable, good captains game.
Doherty 6.5 Improved as the game went on, was there when we needed him late in the match.
    Jackson 7 dead balls impressed.
McCormack 7.5 great running back tackle in the first half, took the pain for the team, great work leading up to goal.
Semedo 7 need to see the S.O. again, he cares tho.
Reid 7.5 Great first half but faded a bit, set up goal well.
    Waggy. 6 Quiet overall
Akpo. 7 Scored, but seems to need to make more intelligent decisions...can he I wonder?
Abbott. 6 Quiet overall, but honest.
Racon 6 I would not have brought him on myself in those circumstances.OK.
Martin 6.5 Nice vignette, I am pleased but undecided.
Francis 6 OK, no mistakes, helped Solly to complete his game.

Officials first half 8, second half 6
Bournemouth, responded in second half, but not a threat really. 6
    Parkinson 8, we won.
Crowd a very creditable 7.5, with the Cherries support a 7
