  • I'm sure someone posted this earlier in the week on the rumours page. No development fee if he signs.
  • absolute madness. I'm sure that Parky has got an aversion to playing the yoof. May as well get rid of Solly and Stav now and be done with it.
  • Big suprise this one. Looks like Jackson will be wasted at left back then. Must also mean that Reid is signing.
  • Do Take That know Robbie Williams is joining Aberdeen?
  • if youga stays slow motion basey is surplus
  • Youga has to get fit first!

True, that's why he never plays Elliot or Wagstaff and never gave Solly or Stav or Tuna or Mambo their debuts.

We get it, you rate Basey, you'd like to keep him. As it happens so would I.

What is OTT is 1. slagging off any other player who might play in his or another one of your favourite players position ie Macca and 2. Extrapolating (there's a big word for a Friday) that because one young player might leave that Parky hates all the other young players as that is clearly not true.

Not really. There is Youga when/if fit and Llera who can play there.
  • Would have liked to have seen him break through here, but maybe he has the chance of a longer contract there with guaranteed first team football. Do they have a gap in any positions he can play?

Not a disaster if he goes, can be replaces but would be disappointing. Perhaps the wages might spent on strikers.

Agree, this is a blow, but if Youga is fit, then with Jackson he would be 3rd choice left back, would rather spend the cash on positions that we are short of. Wouldn't criticise Parky of not playing the youth, if they were strong enough for the position required to be filled then they would play.
  • Shame if he goes as I too like him and think he is future captain material. Loud, strong and although not fast he is a good footballer with a good brain. Certainly good enough for this level.

If he goes then I can only assume it's wage demands that are the issue - though why anyone would like to go to live in Aberdeen is beyond me
  • Any of you thought of the fact that he might have come back from injury a different player (shit)?
  • If everyone was fit I'd either let Basey go or use him as back up to the midfield. I reckon Parky will choose Jackson or Solly over Llera for left back until Youga is fit, probably Jackson.
  • Henry ignore him he's such a bore, he dont like Parky and so no matter what happens if its opportunity to have a pop he will. We are all aware that he is a product of the youth system but as matter of fact im not sure Basey really cuts it at left back. Due to a fair lack of pace unfortunately he will never be above this level i fear. however im not saying he couldnt do a job in other positions. It all depends what he is asking from us which no one knows but the board, parky, basey and large
  • not fussed if Basey leaves. i mean he's not overly good at being a left-back, too slow to be a left midfielder. he wants to be a CB and that may have suited him, but looks like we going to have that position covered.
  • let's face it the only decent recent youth product has been jonjo and for some reason he didn't play him more
but as for the rest pony and one of the reasons we're in this poxy league is cos some of them have been playing IMO
  • He is a capable lb, lm, cb and will probably make a very good holding midfielder. He's young, strong and would be a great utility player to have in the squad

Strange so many are so keen to let him go

You're forgetting your favourite player - Rob Elliot. Don't forget his understudy from last season either, Darren Randolph.
  • not seen enough of randy to say whether he's decent but he was the only keeper that looked potentially decent to me!

  • How is Pacey going to get from Aberdeen to The Lounge every weekend?

I havn't slagged off Macca, all I've ever said is that I think his signing was uneccessary. Basey has never played CM for us and so Macca can't be deemed to be taking one of my favorite players positions. Sorry but I do think that he is adverse to playing the yoof unless it's an absolute necessity. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. We'll see if Solly starts at RB and what happens regards Stav in due course.

not keen him for to go... just not going to cry a river if he does.

True, but the way I think of it is, currently, if everybody is fit then he is not first team for his position, with the budget so tight, we need to look for spending wages / cash on other positions.
  • The only downer with him going to Aberdeen is that like with Randolph going north of the border we won't be eligible for any compensation.

I rate Basey. He is a little slow but not a bad defender. Would make a good CB.
  • well said CHG

ha ha. Yep I suppose Basey is demanding to be the highest wage earner, be guaranteed a place and wants a mansion down the Birchwood Road. The lack of pace stuff is a load of old balls. Yes he isn't the quickest at the Club but he's no slouch. His best position is really going to be as a CM. Letting him go will be a big mistake in my opinion. Let's hope Youga doesn't bugger off as we'll end up playing Jackson at LB and that will be a mistake too.

exactly. Probably the same people who want to sign Mooney because he get's in good positions.

It may be his best position but he is not OUR best player there. The only position he will be competing for with our current squad is LB

I think he needs to find first team football like Randolph. He's out of contract and can do what he wants. I reckon we'd offer him a year and no guarantee of a first team place. Aberdeen offer him 2 years and a regular spot plus a chance of European football.
