  • would be a useful signing. it's a start.
  • Vastly experienced and as good as there is in terms of defenders in this division, could be a bit of a phil chapple cult hero type player I reckon.

    Chapple? Cult Hero? Christ almighty.
  • Good signing imo. However, need to get Dailly signed up asap. Surely Dailly isn't on mad money? Plus, he said Charlton were a huge part of his life now.

    What's the hold up?

Careful Leroy, some people won't be very happy about you insinuating Christianity is just a Cult.

Anyone done any research into what the Norwich fans think of him (Doherty that is, not Jesus H)?

Well he finished 3rd in their POTY last year.
  • [cite]Posted By: falconwood_1[/cite]Woohoo, are there any Season Tickets still left??

no I just bought the last two (kids ones)

Bailey finished third in ours but I wouldn't say he deserved it personally. Anyway, that's a bit facetious of me, sorry WSS - what I meant was a bit more detail about what we can expect - is he as slow as we think he is, what's his distribution like etc. They just seen him play 38 games in our division, they'll be well placed as anyone to give an accurate opinion on if he's a good signing or not.
  • Norwich fans all seem to think he'll do a really good job for us according to their boards.
  • I love how Sky sports announces it before our own official website

Give it a few weeks, I'm sure someone will be able to jot something down

because he hasn't signed yet. Just as Bailey hasn't signed for Boro. We only announce it when it's a done deal, signed and sealed. And that is a FACT.

I know you are being sarcastic but yes that is exactly right.

I know you don't like that and you don't want it to be true but it is so you are just going to have to cope with that.

He hasn't signed, yet, and neither, yet, has Bailey.
  • Yay!

    We signed someone!

    Welcome, Mr Docherty.
  • surprised we got him, think he is excellent in this league ,nit that good enough for championship still. hope this is the start of more

I am not being sarcastic. It has only just permeated through my thick skull and I now know the processes involved and the reasons why we wait for the official announcement. I was just given Chris From Sidcup the benefit of my recently acquired knowledge. ;-)

Just hope Bailey doesn't slip in the ice outside The Riverside.
  • I would add that someone at SSN posted that Joe Cole signed for Man Utd and it appeared on the news bar but it turned out to be rubbish. So perhaps a bit of caution and wait till its on the OS.
  • Well, if we have signed Doherty, that's a big strong 1st ball centreback on board.

Along with Semedo in centre mid and the, ahem........ underated Akpo up front, that's a big physical spine running through the team - which we've often lacked recently. And in this league, just what we need.
  • Shrewd move by PP. Vast experience and no mug. (apart from the ugly mug ). Thought Dailley would be good and he was and I rekon GD will prove a real asset. Well done Charlton. Hope Dailley stays though.

Funny you should say that, I've heard ..................... ;0)

    LOL!
  • good signing, just hope we get Dailly, Sodje & Fortune too, then we can sell Llera...if we kept richardson & Youga that would be some defence at this level...ok, must try not to get too carried away!
  • My first thoughts are he's a decent signing, especially on a free.
However why are Norwich getting rid of him? He's only 30 and played nearly every game last season.
I also began to think that a back 4 of Basey, Dailly, Doherty and Richardson will get absolutely torn to shreds by any side with pace in league one next season.

Richardson not so much; Youga would be at LB I presume. That's half the defence as pace. Dailly also keeps himself fit but you're right; over anything more than, say, 20 yards he'll be screwed completely.

    That's an adventurous love life.
  • I can't see anything about this on the Sky Sports website. Link, anyone?

Only been up on the telly, nothing on the website yet.
  • On the transfer section and then the teams section of the Sky website shows Doherty as an incoming player

Never mind the OS or any other site.

It's only true if it's on Wikipedia. FACT!
