[cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]A London club will inevitably have a higher wage bill than clubs elsewhere.
So all the talk of Parky's wage bill is something of a red herring.
How is someone like Frazer Richardson going to feed his whippet living down here if he doesn't earn more than he did oop North?
Parky is right. If we want to make a go of challenging for promotion then as fans we must get behind the players.
I honestly think a lot of our fans get a perverse pleasure when we fail.
Eureka! It's not the fact that Parkinson is tactically inept or incapable of motivating and instilling a winning mentality into a team it's down to the fans booing the team (incidentally only after the shit performances started) and London Weighting.
Thanks Parkinson it's so much clearer to a mere simpleton like me now. Please extend your contract again so that you can dispense such words of wisdom and insight into the club that no one cares about as much as you.
That's not what Len said. Getting behind the team is more useful than booing them, is that not true? And can players not expect bigger wages playing in London, like normal people in normal jobs do?
He's no tactical or motivating genius, but he's also not completely inept either. If he was we'd be mid table.
Asked further about the crowd, Bailey said: "We're always aware when the crowd is getting a bit restless, but you expect that in football. You've got to just take it on the chin and try to do your best when you go out there.
"Obviously, it would be better if they were cheering a bit more at certain times, and it was a mixed reaction at half-time, but the boys came out and got a goal and pushed for the winner."
Time to bring back the clappers!

We've got 9 matches left - make or break time.
Can't we give the small minded petty Parky sniping a rest?
Parky's making a call for the supporters to actually get behind the team - can't people see that?
[cite]Posted By: falconwood_1[/cite]Oggy, I think the Millwall result has done for Parkinson tbh.
But Falcs, Millwall debacle or not, with 9 matches left the focus of the supporters shouldn't just be on Parkinson.
It's about whether we want promotion or not.
The team must obviously produce the results - but the supporters have to get behind the team, surely?
[cite]Posted By: falconwood_1[/cite]It's the fans fault.
Partly, yes.
[cite]Posted By: ThreadKiller[/cite]just come clean parky and admit that shelvy has already been sold and that your hands are tied in that you aren't allowed to play him anymore
Do you have a source for that?
[cite]Posted By: shamkat[/cite]That said, booing that 2nd half performance just made the boo boys look like idiots.
Agreed. And all the other booing.
[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]Millwall have caught up 18 points in barely two months.
Since January, Millwall have been on fire - is that Parkinson's fault? In fact, if the season had started on 1 Jan, Millwall would be 2nd and Leeds 15th. Should Simon Grayson be sacked too?
[cite]Posted By: Elthamaddick[/cite]Parky is beginning to annoy me with these rants, same old same old....how many other managers in the top 6 would like our wage bill !
How many of the big earners were signed by Parkinson?
[cite]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]He won't go if we stay up
I'm hoping that we'll achieve at least that!
[cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]The £7m did not just cover players, it covered the running of the entire football club.
Really! Do we HAVE to have someone posting on here with a balanced viewpoint?
[cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]Parky is right. If we want to make a go of challenging for promotion then as fans we must get behind the players.
Steady on Len! This is the "Have a go at Parky and don't listen to a word he says thread". Isn't it?

Ah-hah! Someone's hit the nail squarely on the head. If we get promoted a lot of people here are going to have to cramb down a lot of humble pie.
Boss Phil Parkinson must handle boos Ian Gibb 22.03.10
Big mistake by Charlton boss Phil Parkinson to hit out at a “minority” of fans who booed his team off after the 2-2 draw with Gillingham.
He's right to point out he's built a third-placed team with no money — the only two players for fees were bought by previous manager Alan Pardew — but it's an unwritten rule that the punters who pay can voice whatever opinions they have. Take it on the chin, Phil.
Most honest comment from Saturday was Leyton Orient manager Geraint Williams on the 2-0 home defeat by Huddersfield: “We looked a total and utter shambles.”
Ah-hah! Someone's hit the nail squarely on the head. If we get promoted a lot of people here are going to have to cramb down a lot of humble pie.
Considering there have been at least a few saying if we go up it won't be down to him, and they'd still want him sacked, I think there will be fans that hate him whatever he does.

[cite]Posted By: ThreadKiller[/cite]success or failure, at least we are all on the same page for who should take the credit for either
You mean, whether we go up or stay down, Parkinson isn't at credit/fault?
[cite]Posted By: Chizz[/cite]You mean, whether we go up or stay down, Parkinson isn't at credit/fault?
definitely.if we are to go up then it's down to parky regardless of what his detractors say. maybe it won't go up quite as easy as would have been possible under any another manager but yes, parky should deserve praise if he can get us home.
Parkinson is talking crap! To draw 2-2 with Gillingham is poor and if people want to express there opinions on the teams performance they are entitled to. Parkinson is the man who's used up the wages bringing in injury prone or clearly average players like Mckenzie, Llera, Akpo, Mooney, Spring etc. At the beginning of the season we were playing Shelvey just behind Burton and we were getting the results and along with playing Bailey in his correct position we were creative. There are clearly issues with certain players such as Shelvey and Racon because Shelvey can't even get a game and Racon has been poor since December.
So Parkinson before you have a go at us sort your own issues out, because it's not our fault that your tatically inept and you cant motivate the side!
Money isn't a factor for recent performances and i'm surprised he thinks it is, we were top of the league and at one point cruising wins home and away. But suddenly when we start losing (4-0 ffs) it's about the lack of money. We've got one of the highest wage bills in the league, kept the likes of Bailey, Shelvey, Racon, we CAN win but we're not Parky, head up and get them on form for the last games, ignore the booing fans and get on with what your paid for. :-)
I'm not going to boo, I'm just going to sing and cheer them on till we're out of the playoffs. Then it's the time for worries if we're not up in the Championship.
If Parky thinks that by supporting the team rather than booing it, CAN make a difference, then surely we should ALL support the team and not boo. Surely we all want promotion and if he thinks support will help us win that promotion, then we should all be doing everything we can to support the team, no matter what we may think of him.
Truth is and I can't see who can not agree with this, I think its a miracle were still in 3rd. If millwall win tonight we will drop right down again. The reason for the booing is the inept performances over the last few weeks. If we were playing well taking the games like we should then the place would be jumping. If we were really going for it and playing decent stuff even a 3 2 or 4 3 loss would be applauded for the spirit. The reason were 3rd is that decent run we had with a settled team mainly playing 4 5 1, bailey semedo racon sam and jon jo behind burton. We seem to have hit the buffers since basey got injured then losing youga was another blow, but that's one position and should no effect the other 10 players. Like the past 5 to 10 games at points the game like Saturday was begging for someone to take the game by the scurff and make somthing magic happen. Bailey hasn't been right for weeks now maybe rest him? As much as I want elliot to be a top keeper I think randolph deserves a run and a new contract if he wants it. Somthings gone wrong somewhere we look scared nervous and off the pace. I wonder if the pressure from the board by stating numerous times we have to go up has got to parky and the boys. He needs to take them away shake off the nerves and worries do some bonding get them happy again and the football will improve. I have this feeling in my stomach we will play millwall in the final and win, all is not lost yet, but the point is if we played with some heart and some flair no one would boo.
[cite]Posted By: CafcAndy[/cite] Save the jeers for when the seasons over. With 5 teams spending a CONSIDERABLE amount of money, we in refelction shouldn't even be in 3rd place. But we are.
You appear to be forgetting that we were RELEGATED into this league, we have a number of players who have played all their careers at a higher level than where we are currently and have a huge wage bill compared to other clubs.
Yes a couple other clubs (people keep mentioning Huddersfield and Colchester) have spent a bit of money to try and build a squad capable of competing in this division. Both of them are perenially lower league sides. Huddersfield haven't been above this level for 5 years and 6 years ago were in League 2. We already had a squad more than capable of competing in this division, so why should we not even be in 3rd place?
People can bury their heads in the sand but the reality is we haven't played well for weeks and have failed to beat Oldham, Brighton, Tranmere, Orient and Gillingham at home. That is just simply not good enough.
Looking at the above opponents, results and performances in those games, can anyone explain what the spending habits of the other top sides has to do with anything. PP inherited a poor Championship side, but with the squad we have him and his players should be getting more than 4 points from these games.
[cite]Posted By: ValleyGary[/cite]can anyone explain what the spending habits of the other top sides has to do with anything.
Having a good finisher can turn those draws into wins and defeats into draws, as Leeds and Norwich have shown.
Saturday didn't we create a lot of chances, but couldn't finish them? Would a Holt, Beckford or Lambert have taken one or two of those chances? (I couldn't be there, I don't know just how good the chances were)
Defending does need to improve but just looking at results, there are four draws there that could have been wins if we had a finisher, regardless of whether we dominated or not.
Millwall was just a disaster, the only one there, Brighton we really should have matched their five man midfield and Bristol Rovers we played badly.
Away from home Norwich have scored 35 compared to our 25, in just one more game. We've only conceded 3 more goals than them.
At home they've scored a few more and conceded a few less.
I'd also say in those close games, going 1-0 up can make a big difference to the way we perform.
You're right defending needs to improve and we need to take control of games more, but no one can deny we lack a goalscorer which can help take pressure off the rest of the team. Look at the Brighton game, we only went 1-0 down after Racon missed a chance he really should have scored. If he had taken that it could have turned out differently.
“I do understand that the Millwall defeat was a bad one for everybody at the club, I totally understand that.
“I do think that there were no excuses for the Millwall defeat and it was a game where we made some terrible errors which gifted the opposition goals and when you do that it can have a demoralising effect on the team.
“However, I do think that there’s an air around the place of a lack of understanding of what I as a manager have had in terms of resources to put this team together, and we’re doing very well to be third in the table.
“I’ve been a supporter myself and watched a lot of football stood on terraces and sat in stands and I like to think as a supporter I can identify when a team has given their all and just been unlucky.
“Today at half-time to come in 2-1 down I think everybody in the ground said how are they not winning that game? But we weren’t.
“I think the majority of fans were fine. They were frustrated and I understand the frustrations but equally sometimes I feel have they put the right messages out there?”
We listend to this drivle under Pardew fast forward 12 months and Parky is spouting the same BS
Chizz i admire your positivity and the abilty to provide a balanced view but some folks think different they may be right they may be wrong but so may you,
i was rose tinted for ages now i am realistic we have a poor manager playing good players (but they are 3rd division players) out of position or not at all we have the poorest team i have seen in years
We have a winger who doesnt know how to play out wide or doesnt want to
we have our best centre mid playing left on the wing
we had a goalie who has made mistake after mistake in the last couple of months and who was carrying a knock into saturdays game and once again cost us a goal, In my opinion not only did that cost us a goal it cost us the opportunity to change our formations
on 78 mins we made a chnge offensivly for the far too late again also pardewesq
He has Mckenzie not getting a look in has wasted that money yet he wants more players
if we look deeper i am sure you will find a lot of discontent from within
That what i have just read has nailed his coffin shut step forward Phil Pardew

Face facts...nice guy but not the manager to get the club moving forwards.
