Saw Hreidarsson and Svensson both in Bluewater. Didn't speak to either. Herman was christmas shopping and seemed less than impressed when someone tried to have a word.
  • during an in-house training course a few weeks ago a boss of mine revealed that he had played for Charlton, off the bench, once in front of 50,000 at The Valley. He gave a few more deatails of the game, which I can't remember now, but that evening I looked the match up in Home and Away and there was no mention of him. I then checked in the Valiant 500, once again no mention of him. So, do I out him as a lying git or keep schtum and use it to my advantage in the future ?

'Off the bench in front of 50,000' should have alerted you Large....the days of 50,000 crowds at The Valley were long gone by the time sustitutes came about.

    That's impossible Large.
We've never had 50,000 at The Valley since subs were introduced in 1965.

Alright, alright....I thought only girls type fast ;-)
  • Gary Nelson a couple of times on train into Liverpool St.
Said I was the first Charlton fan he had met who 'wasn't at the first game back!'
Missed most of that season due to finances, although Upton Park was our nearest 'home' ground for me since moving out this way in 77.

yeah, I knew that but checked anyway. Don't see the point in lying about this, in front of around twenty staff members, as it's easily checked. Can't remember the game now but I think it was the Spudz 4-1 home win where Flash scored a hattrick. Crowd was about 30k so okay he added on a few too many thousand but none of the record books have any knowledge of him.

That'll be because he's making it up! Save it till next year's Christmas party and tell him his pants must be on fire 'cos he's a big fat liar.

Just out of interest what name does/did he go by?
  • Well unless your boss is called Steve Gritt he wasn't the sub V Spurs! Telling big porkies me thinks, out him now!!
  • Ormiston, re Zizi's English; it was okay, he could hold a basic conversation but his family had a relative with them who spoke good English who was helping them out. Not that she was needed for our conversation which was done in pretty basic English..................

Thanks, I have never heard him speak so I was curious.
  • Many years ago I saw and had a long chat with Scott Minto in the Glades, Bromley. Top bloke.

On another occasion I had a chat with Paul Sturgess in Bromley High Street.

Saw Billy Bonds at the checkout in Waitrose, Burnt Ash Lane.

Billy is often in that Waitrose.
  • Billy must love Waitrose. I saw him in the Green St. Green version. He was with who I can only determine must've been his daughter. I noticed her first - she was well fit but I didn't quite have the bottle to chance my arm with Bonzo's daughter. This was only a few years ago but he still looked in great shape.

Lennie Lawrence presented me with an athletics trophy at an awards ceremony once. " 'Ere you go mate, cop 'old of this" he said.

Years ago also saw Andy Jones and Johny Humphrey in de javu's(?) nightclub in Swanley. Queued up behind Johnny H in the men's. He shouted "Is this a sponsored piss?" to those ahead of him in the queue. Good job he didn't say what Lennie said to me.

Also saw Colin Walsh drinking in the Standard in Belvedere Village, Stuart Balmer about to hire a video from Blockbusters in Welling the night before a match.

Recently saw John Salako in Thorin's in Tunbridge Wells with a bunch of much older blokes. Journo buddies I reckon.

Richard Rufus while he was out jogging in Bexleyheath, El Karkouri came into Cineworld in Bexleyheath when I worked there, and asked me if we had any biscuits - think he was staying at the Mariott just after signing and it was a Sunday after all the shops had shut!
  • Colin Walsh - jogging near Bostall Woods (him not me, I don't do running)
Colin Walsh - McDonalds in Welling
Colin Walsh - Coopers Arms in Woolwich

    I'm not a stalker - honest!

  • Mark Robson - handshake and a quick chat in the lobby of the Marriott in Sheffield before our away game with Shef Utd 2006/07

Andy Reid - when living out in Seville last year, the Sunderland squad were over for a "team-bonding" trip which one night took them to the local Irish bar in town which I was in with mates. Malbranque, Kenwyne Jones, Paul McShane and Kieron Richardson were all smashed. Anton Ferdinand was trying it on with every female american student in the place. Cisse was also there, surprisingly looking moody and as if he'd been forced out the hotel. And Reid was a complete wally who spent the night drunkenly slurring American Pie with the wrong words and strumming some dire tune on his guitar.
