  • No point being fearful.

Both teams will play some squad players, anything can happen.

It'll be like a cup tie. And we're the underdogs (almost funny but not quite)
  • couldn't give a monkeys about tonight after Sunday.....however in reality I will in front of the TV at 7.30 with a few beers shouting and screaming..........

    ......at Coronation Street.

(of course I'll be watching.......If we win then I might start dreaming of Wembley), hats off to the 500 going, great effort.
  • Agree, AFKA & hope that the attitude & determination is vastly improved after Sunday's debacle.

I'm sticking my wrinkly old neck out and going for a 2-1 win for the Addicks ...

Probably we'll need 2 og's as no-one out there looks like scoring ( except Super Al, of course ) but who cares how we win ?
  • to win this competition would be one step up from winning the fa trophy/vase ... it's a competition for the lesser likes in football and i'm not proud that we're in it ....
but whatever improves the moral of those representing charlton is the most important thing so that's all that matters
  • Wembleyyyy

    Wembleyyyy.
  • Don't know if I can even be bothered to watch. We're low on confidence...I predict a spanking. 4-1 to Southampton.
  • I predict good things tonight after recent under achieving. Very very confident and am really looking forward to seeing plan C ;-)

[cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]Bryan Hughes can score the winning penalty for us.

It'll be just like the good old days.

    ;o)

When we all moaned about players like Hughes and mid-table mediocrity!... ;)

Hope you are right Uncle but can't work out if you are being cynical or not ;-)

... we are definitely owed a result ... but the Pardew factor worries me, the b*st*rd does too well against his ex-teams ... as you would know.

    Plan C - doubtful ;-)

  • team for tonight then

    Ikeme
    Omozusi
    Basey
    Sodje
    Llera
    Sam
    Bailey
    Semedo
    Holden
    McKenzie
    Mooney

    subs
    Jonjo
    Wagstaff
    Randolph
    Tuna
    Racon
    Daily
    Youga

    rest Burton

if we decide to play Holden who i would like to see how good he is in a 4-4-2 we dont have the right balance even when we play 4-5-1 bailey is a CM player lets get the best out of him playing him in the right position

we could play sam and wagstaff on the flanks to give us that threat of pace i know this aint every ones cuppa but cant get any worse after sunday
  • Just leaving work to start journey down to Southampton. Why???????????????
  • Uncle.......we'll win 3-1.......your mask is slipping, you know your Charlton really?

    LOL
  • If we don't play 4-4-2 tonight in what is a nothing of nothing games I will be rather upset.
  • Lee i think you might be a tad wrong there. DA9 you've found me out ha ha
  • Being a naturally optimistic soul I think we'll see a bit of a reaction tonight. We have a good recent record against Saints as well. How strong a team do people think we should put out - do we mix it up but try to get a new first XI some game time ready for Saturday or do we go with a full reserve XI and worry about MK Dons at the weekend?

I'd go with the following (assuming all are fit and none need a rest - other than Burton & Richardson who we know are not 100%)

    Randolph
    Semedo
    Dailly
    Sodje
    Youga
    Wagstaff
    Bailey
    Spring
    Basey
    Mooney
    McKenzie

    Subs:
    Binks
    Mambo
    Llera
    Sam
    Racon
    Shelvey
    Tuna

It may not be a priority in terms of the competition but I really want to win this game, a) to start making up for Sunday asap and b) because it's against that prick Pardew.

On current form, I'd be amazed if we even get in touching distance of Soton.

However,we need to prove something tonight to ourselves and the supporters. So, if we can display some tactical nous and determination and get the NV game out of our heads then we will have accomplished something.

All that said, the form book will go out of the window tonight and we're going to scrape a lucky win with Shelvey coming good.
  • We can only have 5 subs tonight by the way.

How many do you want then ?

Is this because Jonjo has given you feed back on the way the players have reacted in training or just blind optimism?

  • Randolph
    Semedo
    Dailey
    Sodje
    Youga
    Wagstaff
    Bailley
    Racon
Sam (dont even think of moaning
    after Northwich)
    McKenzie---Tuna

    Subs
    Keeper (binks?)
    omozusi
    shelvey
    mooney
    dicko emergency recall
  • Perversly, I'm really looking forward to tonight. Think (hoping) we might get a reaction to Sunday's game PLUS I can be back home and tucked up in bed at a reasonable time :-)

Minus point is that Saints played on Friday didn't they, so two extra days recovery?
  • i thought you have to wait 24 hours for a recall also to be honest not many deserve to play after sunday but were not blessed with a squad like chelsea man u and arsenal

i would like to see parkinsons list of new potential players he wants to bring in on jan
  • confidence is booming in this thead

oh i forgot... saints win for me too...
  • Parky's choice is somewhat restarined by having to base the starting XI around the players who've started the most games.

I might bring back Richardson as that would free up a place for a player like Tuna/Wagstaff who haven't AFAIK started any league games.
  • Get Sam out for gods sake cocky, arrogant, and fudging useless. If waggy dont get the nod over him he must wonder what he has to do!!
  • [cite]Posted By: uncle[/cite]

As opposed to the 7 you have in the league...

    Now get onside.
  • after travelling to northwich on sunday, tonights a nice easy one for me.

after talking to a few people around here, saints fans aren't bothered about this cup. i dont think we should take the same opinion on it. we need to start winning to raise our confidence ahead of a big game saturday.

oh and anyone travelling down here later, its a bit miserable looking outside but the black clouds are going. starting to brighten up.
  • only 5 subs ? there are more subs looking after this web site
  • If the manager can find some man management skills and motivate the team - and the team itself feels some shred of embarassment over Sunday and gets some enthusiasm and confidence from somewhere - then we might just do it. I hope (optimistic as ever) that they come out 'like a different side'. If they do then 2-0 win to us....if however they don't then 3-1 to Pardew's red and white army!
