  • always interesting to read your take on things, Scoham.

Sure I remember he didnt always play well at left back, but I did suspect that Curbs had a downer on him. The way he has flourished under Hodgson is proof for me. Hodgson doesnt mess around with him in midfield (or right back). And now he is knocking on the door of the England squad. Yet there were people here (mainly on the mailing list) who would say that he wasnt Prem level, and we should let him go. Well he has let his performances at Fulham give the best possible finger to both us and Curbs, and good for him.

Interesting too that Hodgson gets performances out of Murphy, eh? Not so consistent, but no toys flying out of prams, it seems.

Fair enough, I would have never agreed he wasn't a Premier League player. About Curbs falling out with him, it can happen to any manager. I don't think selling him was a huge mistake, and I think Curbs did rate him enough, but yeah he has proven he's clearly a Premier League player to anyone that said he wasn't. There were plenty of other players who were closer to only being Championship players than Konchesky.

Murphy is interesting, perhaps the way he failed at Spurs did him some good though. Here you got the impression he thought he was the star and the team should be built around him. Good player but not that good, if he was he would have played more for Spurs.
  • Twenty odd seconds in, and Zamora gets an away goal
  • no longer a charming naff club, been in the prem a good few years and of course have moved on to european games like most clubs do after a long stay.
  • Europa League Semi Finals by the look of it, that is some achievement. Hodgson must have a fine chance of getting one final top job maybe England after Capello or Liverpool even?
  • I'm always happy when an English side does well in Europe, no matter how much I hate them in the domestic game.

The only thing that's annoying me about this Fulham run is that people use it to promote Bobby Zamora for the England squad and no one ever mentions Darren Bent's name for England. I mean Bent has 22 Premiership goals compared to Zamora's 8. Well done to Fulham though.
  • Have to agree, aside from Chelsea for some reason I never want them to do well in Europe unlike the other teams.

Can't see Zamora getting into the squad, it is a bit late and in Bents favour apart from all the goals, he has got a little a bit of international experience (inc U21 caps) compared to Zamora.
  • Always had a bit of a dislike for Fulham, thought they were very lucky to stay in the prem for a number of years but you've got to like Woy and what he has done there, fair play to them. You would like to think he would be considered for a top job but likelihood is he won't, massively respected in Europe just a shame he will be tarnished with what went on at Blackburn
  • well done fulham, even they have had there day.
  • What did go on at blacburn I recall him doing pretty well there?

  • Think he qualified for Europe then next season weren't they bottom, think they were relegated that season
  • To me the better English clubs do in European competitions the more and more it sticks two fingers up to the suits in FIFA & UEFA that despise the British game for being the best.

Can't help but look at this and think had the right man taken over after Curbs this could've been us.
  • He was sacked in either October/November 1998, they were bottom but obviously had plenty of time left that season to save themselves and had some decent players inc Chris Sutton, Wilcox, Christian Dailly and Tim Flowers. They got Brian Kidd and finished 19th, just behind ourselves.

    Zamora was capped at U21.

My friend has bought me a ticket for the final and is taking me to Hamburg, unless that is Liverpool get there. We have agreed that it would be horrible seeing Hamburg awash with scousers, plus, our tickets could be sold on for a princely sum.
  • Did you notice the bar at the back of the away stand? You could get beer and watch the game.
See a Fulham supporter standing in the away end having a beer and a smoke whilst watching the game.`
If its legal there, then why not here?
The jurys still out in relation to the additional linesmen though. Give the option of either additional linesmen or waiting for an answer from someone sat watching a monitor, then additional linesmen work for me all day long.
I thought there were some positives to take from their use in the liverpool game, although at times made for a confusing scene.
  • I didn't think you could drink within view of the pitch at a UEFA game, could be wrong though.
  • Well done to Fulham, will be tough against Hamburg though as they have the added incentive of the final being on their ground.

That was my take on it too. I went to Fulham v Shakhtar a few weeks back, and you couldn't even buy a beer to drink in the concourse.
  • well done to Fulham I say. Can't say I understand the negativity or envy towards them. I don't love them , I don't hate them but am pleased for them. I know Ray Lewington the first team coach and a nicer guy you couldn't hope to meet so I'm particularly chuffed for him. Hope they go on and win it, beating Liverpool in the Final would be nice. Oh to see Rafa's face.
  • Where is the potential final going to be held? I hope not too far away with Fulham's pathetic support.

  • Hamburg. Fulham actually play them in the Semi's.....so they'll hope to be making the trip twice!

yeah, and ours is unbelievable. Pot and kettle springs to mind.
  • Hamburg, they wouldn't take 10,000 for the final.

Sorry if I'm upsetting the Fulham supporters on here.
  • Fulham's away support is absolutely pathetic. For the FA Cup Quarter-Final replay against Spurs, they couldnt even shift 2,500 tickets @ £25 a pop.
  • were taking just over a thousand to southampton saturday john.
  • [cite]Posted By: nolly[/cite]were taking just over a thousand to southampton saturday john.

as pony as that is nolly, we arent a prem side, its hardly an FA Cup quarter final and we arent playing in NW London.
  • Fulham had 2,000 in Wolfsburg last night.

    Thought that was decent
  • Fulham wouldn't take 500 to Southampton put it that way.

Considering the amount of you that would like to get your hands around Pardew's neck, I would have thought you would be taking a little more than that to be honest. Is it all ticket or is it pay on the day?
  • We had sold 1100 yesterday morning, plus its pay on the gate. I can see us having 1500 there..at least. Like i said, not great but 3 away games 3 saturdays in a row, plus trips to Exeter & Oldham coming up, i can understand why our following for Southampton may be 'poor'.
