What is amazing is how many Palace fans still seem to think that Jordan's excrement has no odour.
Despite being caught in the lie about buying Selhurst and having delivered very little he is still credited with "10 exciting years". One season in the Prem in his time which is less than Hull or Stoke and quite a few less than Charlton.

Maybe it is relevant to their own Henry ? one season in the top flight every 10 is fairly good going for a once fourth division side ) no good comparing them with the likes of Hull or especially Stoke and Charlton who have obviously suprior history but in comparrison to a Millwall, Brighton or Leyton Orient it is fairly seen as exciting {winky eye thingy}

It's always nice for Ron to come back and remind us how great he was for Ron Noades, which is one of the things that mystifies me about Charlton's dislike for all things Palace, as i have mentioned in the past, one of the things Palace and Charlton have in common, is we have both been screwed by the man.
It's quite simple Budgie, Ron was "yours" and the fans are guilty by association. Add the pleasure that the Palace fans seemed to take in our demise at the time and you may well be able to understand why your relegation at the Valley was met with similar + interest. As much as amarilo will be remembered by all Paalce fans at the Valley that day, so all of us who trecked over to Selhurst will never forget the "where's your Valley gone". In a similar light I am always mystified how Palace fans think they had done our club a favour and saved us ?
I can certainly understand the guilt by association, and as for the "where's your Valley gone", the Palace faithful also recieved comments from visiting fans, about no longer being the sole occupants, so whilst you didn't enjoy being there, the Palace fans certainly didn't enjoy your stay either. But that's been done too many times, as I said the only true winner was Ron, but we'll certainly never agree on it.

tbf I think some fans opinions are beginning to change, as he scrambles to try to save his cash, many Palace fans are beginning to be concerned whether we'll have a squad large and good enough to survive in the Championship, if and when administration arrives.
One things for sure the next month or so, will be very interesting, and will certainly impact on how Simon Jordan is viewed historically.

Historys all well and good, and I can just about remember when Palace were in the lower leagues, maybe you'll remind me what it's like these days. {winky eye thingy}
For the sake of the majority of football supporting Crystal Palace fans i hope they get through this and survive.
For the sake of Noades, Jordan, and Palace fans who gleefully sang 'Where's your Valley gone',, 'Who the f*ck is laughing now', who youtubed the burning of a Charlton scarf, or who steamed a train and attacked ordinary Charlton Supporters, and who glory (incomprehensibly) in patronizing us, I hope the agony continues.
i actually think they should take the points deduction, and then work at avoiding relegation, which I think they could do....that might make this a fun season for Crystal Palace, and lead to a fresh start next season.

[cite]Posted By: Saints fan[/cite]Anyone know much about Jose Fonte and Neil Danns?
They're being strongly linked with a move to Saints.
Fonte is a very good Championship centre half, but not worth £1.2M IMO. £750K i'd say.
José Miguel da Rocha Fonte (born 22 December 1983 in Penafiel, Portugal) is a defender, who currently plays for Crystal Palace He is the older brother of former Arsenal striker Rui Fonte, who he has played with during his brother's loan spell at Palace. Their father, Artur Fonte, played in the Portuguese first division, with Penafiel.
José began his career at the Sporting Lisbon youth teams, but didn't make to the first squad so he signed for Salgueiros for the 2003/2004 season. The club was in great financial difficulties so Fonte terminated his contract and moved to F.C. Felgueiras where history repeated itself. In the 2005/2006 season, Fonte signed with Vitória de Setúbal, before joining giants Benfica in January 2006. He was immediately loaned out to Paços de Ferreira for the remainder of that season to get first-team football and then to Estrela da Amadora the following season for more first-team football.
Fonte then moved on loan to Crystal Palace in London, to be nearer to Rui. This looked to be an ill-judged move, with chances were few and far-between, until injuries in the Palace defence gave Fonte a run in side. He impressed fans and pundits alike with some strong performances both at the back and as a makeshift striker when required, which lead to the deal being made permanent at the end of the season.
Fonte's technical ability impressed the Palace management to such a degree that the club were persuaded to sign Rui on loan from Arsenal,[1] in the hope that he would display the same ability as his older brother.
Fonte is expected to complete a move to Southampton on Monday 11 January 2010. The fee is believed to be in the region of £1.2 million.
Danns is a Palace midfielder who Brum signed from Colchester a few years ago, but has hardly played since he left Colchester.Possibly worth £300k.
Neil Alexander Danns (born 23 November 1982, in Liverpool, England) is an English footballer currently playing as a midfielder for Crystal Palace in the Championship.
Born in Liverpool, England, Danns began his football career as a schoolboy with Liverpool, but signed as a trainee at Blackburn Rovers. It was after moving south to Colchester United that he started to make a name for himself. Whilst at Layer Road, Danns contributed greatly to the club's promotion to the Championship in 2006.
On 19 June 2006, Danns completed a £500,000 move to Birmingham City. Despite admitting that he "had a great time" at Colchester, he emphasised that "when a club the size of Birmingham come in for you, it's hard to say no".[1] Danns made his competitive début for Birmingham against Colchester on 5 August 2006.
Danns signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Crystal Palace on 22 January 2008 for a fee of £600,000, rising to £850,000 should the club gain promotion to the Premier League. After initially having a tough time with recurring injuries at Palace, Danns managed to establish himself in the Eagles' line-up in his second season at the club.
Danns is on the verge of signing a three year contract with Southampton. The fee is believed to be in the region of £950,000. This has yet to be confirmed.
In summary I think they are worth £1M max & Pardew is looking to Pay £2M, which is what we as Charlton fans would expect.
[cite]Posted By: Saints fan[/cite]Anyone know much about Jose Fonte and Neil Danns?
They're being strongly linked with a move to Saints.
Far too good for the 3rd division.
I know they're been linked, and they may well end up there, but both players would do well to hold on, and go to at least a Championship side that is looking for promotion, or at very least, a Championship team. I know with the fire sale going on at Selhurst, all players would seem to be available, but these two at least are too good for a lower table side, I know Palace are in a bad bargaining position, and Southampton hold the upper hand, but I would hope the players would put there careers first, and hold out for a better option.
Noades V Jordan. Now there's a celebrity death match I'd pay to watch.
I think we are reaching a tipping point in the next week. If they go into administration now there's enough time to do a deal and maybe strengthen the squad for a pus up the table to get some of their invetsment back. Leave it to the end of Jan and it's going to be too late and the squad will be decimated.
If the fees above are correct, I'd say Danns is abour right, and Fonte is certainly worth the plus side of a million, but I'd agree Palace are fortunate it's Pardew buying, as the only other manager (or ex-manager) willing to pay those fees to us would be Iain Dowie.
Financially for Palace in SJ's position, both good deals, for Palace fans the beginning of a very long month or so.

The thing is though Budgie, Southampton will have more cash than many CCC clubs at the moment and that's often the biggest factor for clubs and players. I reckon Pards will end up paying nearly a mill over the two players worth, which at the end of the day is a result in your current plight.
The fee's being talked about for Fonte do seem a bit of a risk, he could end up becoming a flop if he signs.

The fee for Jose Fonte seems a bit risky, but I guess when other clubs know you've got money they will try and hold out for the max price you will pay.
Earlier on Talksport it was quoted that Jordan is at a loss as to how Charlton are getting such decent crowds in the League 1 and was critical of Palace fans not showing up these days. Is it therefore any wonder how he got them into such a mess ............. Thick as s#ite or just trying to deflect the blame for their demise ?
[cite]Posted By: 24 Red[/cite]Whose in the worst shape, us or Palace? Tough call. What a critical season this is - again.
a) Own ground and people in charge who really do care who the batton gets handed onto. A division below but a realistic opportunity to go up this season.
b) Precarious position if administration kicks in with a minimum 10 point deduction, then a relegation struggle, plus a cretin who is trying his best to sell a few assets to get something back before it all goes tits up and good luck to whoever takes it on !
I'll take a) every day, especially given the guardians of our respective clubs and the ground ownership situations.
I would like to apologise to anyone who may have been offended that I referred to a current (not for much longer) football club chairman as a "cretin" in hindsight a "moron" would be more appropriate.
It does lookincreasingly as if Jordan is the Nick Leeson of football, gambling away hoping for his luck to change. The one difference is that he has staked his own shirt as well as the banks. People keep talking in neutral terms about administration and debt dumping as if is has zero impact. That is just not right. I don't weep for HMRC or some Cayman Island hedge fund investors but I do fear for the poor local businesses who have traded with Palace/Jordan who will be right royally screwed if they go into admin. Yes the club will probably survive but some of their trading partners will not.
As for Palace as a club, I hope they survive, as Len has said which echoes my ealier post. That Jordan gets his comeuppance will be a good day, that he takes some decent firms down with him is not a cause for celebration imho.
been thinking about this and I'm sure they'll be back in some form or another just as afc Wimbledon - so I say kick bancrupt clubs into league 2 or out altogether - if the fans want their club then they can do what we had to ... And organise, fight etc this goes for Portsmouth Southampton etc.
Put another way our directors have shelled out a cool £1m each paying for their mistakes (pardew+) and maybe hoping their investment is worth more when we eventually break back into the championship playoffs ( and we will be there sooner or later)
We are in a battle in London for the best young players , the next generation of fans, the next investor , the best transfer deals for 100k 500k or whatever so the sooner west ham and palace fall over the better ;)
So,Fonte has gone to the Saints then. At least Tango can pay the wages now! Good defender for League 1,anyone else slightly annoyed he's gone there? Think he will do very well for them. It's going to be a very long month for Palarse fans methinks...
So they are going to sell all their best players and then go into adminstration anyway. That will be a disaster for the club with certain relegation to follow. shame. ;-)
Southampton have signed Crystal Palace defender Jose Fonte for an undisclosed fee, reports BBC Radio Solent.
The 26-year-old Portuguese centre-back has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the League One side, dropping down a division from the Championship.
Fonte has been a regular for Palace since joining them on loan in 2007 from Benfica, making 92 appearances and scoring six goals for the Eagles.
"I'm really happy to be at St Mary's," Fonte told BBC Radio Solent.
"Don't get me wrong , I was happy at Crystal Palace and I had a good spell there. I have only good things to say to the fans and everybody I have worked with at the club.
"But I've made a decision and I'm very happy with it. I've come here with a purpose which is to help this club move to the top divisions.
"I'm very happy with this contract, and with how Southampton have treated me, so it's a happy day for me and I just want to help the club. I want to play in the Premier League and I think I can do that quickest by moving here."

2. Quite happy for them to avoid administration, by selling all their players with a value.
3. Quite happy for them to go into administration get 10 points deducted and hopefully relegated.
Won't be counting any chickens though, as they may get bought out by Gold & Sullivan or a n other and be in a very healthy position.
