do your boys not play sunday football falconwood ?
[cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]....Most boys between these ages play junior sunday league football so will probably not be able to go to the party and meet the players......
NSS - I agree with the timing being unfortunate. I know Cat jnr would be happy to miss 1 game to go to the party but then he's the only CAFC supporter in his team. We've got a 1 1/2 hour journey to get to the Valley so TBH late morning/early afternoon suits us fine (Mrs Cat has suddenly expressed an interest in going since she heard that the players would be there - the presence of young fit men methinks - and she hasn't been to the Valley since about '96..)
[quote][cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]On the logo it was me who didn't like it. Henry jnr didn't really mind either way and as I said I'm not the target audience.
NSS, when I saw the timings I thought about the Sunday games and asked Henry jnr and he said he'd rather miss a game so he could meet the players.
My guess is that most of the boys and girls won't play for a Sunday team as just thinking about my sons school only about 3 or 4 out of 45 do.
Also Sunday evening will be a prime time for parties, weddings etc so may well be already sold.[/quote]
Well that's your call mate, but I know NorthstandJoe's team mates wouldn't be impressed if he missed a game to go to the young addicks christmas party, doesn't exactly show respect and commitment to your teammates and would probably result in starting the next game on the bench.Again these are just my views.
I wouldn't have thought many weddings and parties are booked for a sunday evening.
The problem we have is 2 of my sons team are young addicks and with a squad of 9 doesn't have any leeway, anyway thats our problem just a shame as I don't think there is a real need for the kids to have to make the choice. My son is on a cubs camping trip in November but i have already made arrangements to pick him up sunday morning so he is there for his match. But as he put's it he's proper.
Henry Jnr is away all weekend with the Scouts so will miss Oldham and his U11s game as will another of his team mates.
I'm pleased that he plays and watches football but don't want that to be to the detriment of other things. They have a squad of 15 (for 11 a side) so they will cope.
just rung the club about this and was told the reasons. 1) They had to book available entertainment (funky chicks) never mind can live with missing them. 2) Player availability best time to get players there because they would have played the day before and have matches to prepare for the following week and obviously aren't allowed out after 7pm in the evening. What a crock of shite , so if that's the case best look forward to player of the year do being a sunday lunchtime in the future .
The other issue is that the meet Christian Dailly and Frazer Richardson Tour of the Ground etc etc is 2.00-3.00 which clashes with the weekly Coaching Courses as these don't finish 'til 3.00.
Take the point re Sunday junior football, but the timing of both events was dictated by third parties - in the first case it was the only slot available for the entertainers and holding it early releases the players for the main part of their day off. In the second case the playing side want to do the Q&A so it fits in with training. To avoid the courses we'd have had to go to a 4pm start, which is probably too late.
The reality is that whatever time we do these things will be wrong for some people.
yes airman appreciate the entertainers, but the age of the children who can identify and relate to the players are the ones who are likely to miss out not the 2/3 year olds who will be there for their parents benefit who want to see the funky chicks. Also there is a football team called junior reds f.c. who run many age groups filled with charlton fans who will all miss out, that is a bad own goal there mate.

There are also "Senior Reds" who wouldn't have minded meeting the players, Faye and Marcus Bent are 2 that spring to mind
Problem is that the smallest T shirt on offer is sized 7-8 years . It will take at least 4 more years for 5 year old Billy to grow into it, 7 more for 2 year old Pippa and 8 for 20 month old Louis.....As for the caps.....too big even for Mr F ! It's sad that the sizing does not reflect the ages of our future supporters and echoes the dearth of home shirts for the youngsters in the Club Shop.
The footballs & posters were OK but the kids were a bit puzzled by the keyring & pen in a very large tin....Seem to remember those at the last Shirt Sponsorship dinner!
Maybe Junior Addicks should be renamed " Junior Addicks who are big for their age, with an abnormally large bonce & have their own front door key ". IMHO of course.
We appreciate that the T-shirts and caps will not fit everyone, but I think most people understand that if you sign up very young children it's unlikely that they will be able to take full advantage of the scheme. By the same token, I'd be surprised to see toddlers turning out in force at the Q&A, but I don't see that as a reason not to do it.
There are 20 YA members who are under four, ranging from very young babies upwards. Unfortunately we don't have the resources to produce bespoke items for this age group. If we can get the membership up into thousands we may be able to produce a wider range of sizes or alternative items, but at present that isn't realistic.
The footballs, posters and the CAFC tin were all items that had already been produced by the club and were included on the basis that they added value without adding cost, even if they were not exactly what we would have chosen had we been buying new merchandise to include. I'd have liked to include a team poster, but as the team picture hasn't been taken to date that wasn't possible either.

Just wanted to put on record the fact that Sharon from the Club phoned me today as I hadn't picked up my youngest's goody bag. My fault entirely so she's put it in the post.
With any luck it will save me having to but the boy anything for Christmas!
My son who's just turning 14 months, is already moving his football with his foot (its his favourite toy) and kicking, he mainly likes picking it up tho, but has just started with his left peg.
Is this young to already be doing this? Should I get him an agent yet?

I hope Addick Addict is going : - )
Following today's news I assume that Dicko won't now be there. In which case, yet again, I've been let down by the Club giving out misinformation :-(
