[cite]Posted By: Ormiston Addick[/cite]How funny would it be if people got their wish and PP was poached by Reading and then went on to make them CCC champions next season while we struggled in Tier Three?
[cite]Posted By: Addick Addict[/cite]Chizz - if I was the Reading chairman I'd probably get on the phone to Curbs. Purely for the reasons I've said and that is that you can't go back. I would still prefer Coppell's brand of football though any day.
So, as Reading's Chairman, you would go for Curbs. But you would still prefer Coppell at Charlton. Got it.
I knew it wouldn't take you long to do so.
And the reason is that you shouldn't go back. Which is what Coppell did three times at Palarse.
[cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]Did like his honesty though "I have had the fire power and the play makers and the defence to get promoted and i've failed"
Having seen last night's goals, I wonder if this was a parting dig at the Reading keeper?
[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]Plaayer said 'From what I hear whether it be true or not someone has already been lined up, an ex international manager'.
Well, from the rumour I heard as to whom the new owner will be it's more likely to be from the other half of Ireland, Staunton or O'Leary maybe ?
Please not O'Leary anyone but even Curbs ;-)
Anyway if we're talking about the other half of Ireland it must be Jack Charlton. With a name like that it has to be him.
Copell showed strength of character in resigning, he will be snapped up by someone else very soon.
Dream scenario, Pardew appointed at Reading, he poaches PP to be his trusty sidekick, infuriates our board who take legal action and rake in vast compensation due to the upheaval caused to our plans for next season.
Compensation pays for Coppell and a decent player or two.
[cite]Posted By: Plaaayer[/cite]Thats what I mean Large, I'm in no position to confirm or deny whether the rumours are true, I'm just passing on what I've heard.
makes sense, I'd heard that Roy Keane was lined-up but whilst things are dragging Ipswich nipped in.
Let's not forget that Coppell only took a 12 months contract during his first few years at Reading with no fat pay off to rely on. If only our last few Managers had done the same we probably wouldn't be in the mess we are in now.
Perhaps he's just a throw back to days when "my word" was "my bond".

I'm surprised no-one has asked me the obvious question yet.

What colour are we playin next season?
maybe green, with a leprachaun replacing the sword.
[cite]Posted By: ShootersHillGuru[/cite]Press conference at Reading 11 o clock tomorrow. Not hanging about are they !
This was a done deal before last night, the talk of Coppell going has been doing the rounds for weeks, there is no way he resigned hours after they got beat and the Chairman never knew about it.
I was listening to the build up for the game on 5 live and they interviewed the Chairman and the topic of Coppell going came up, he had an answer already prepared, he knew what was coming.
Anybody who thinks Coppell will become Charlton manager are living in a dream world.
Can't afford his wages, he wouldn't drop to League 1. He may even retire according to same of the papers.
And anyone who thinks Curbs is coming back needs a dose of reality too. We need to be looking at upcoming managers from League's 1 and 2, not ex Premier League managers who don't know this league.
Yeah no chance of getting either of them. Either of them would do a good job but it's not going to happen. Only chance of it happening would be if we're taken over and the new board could invest a lot of money into the club.

Go on then...What have you heard?
okay, okay enough. You have forced it out of me. At a recent Charlton related event I overheard a conversation whereby it was stated that the person attempting to takeover Charlton was Michael O'Leary of RyanAir. True or not who knows.

Bloody hell! We'll have to bring our own seats.
And pay to use the toilets. On the plus side, they might get Guiness on tap at the bars in the ground.
