  • You've raised my hopes now Mr.Irving!

I know things are bleak but i really like the two signings of Murty and Spring and also the possible signing of Brown. 3 real battlers who will hopefully inspire the rest of the team. Things may be looking up!
  • A good signing, but I presume it means that a central midfielder will be on his way out.

Oi, cheer up BFR, you're meant to be EXCITED.

Or have you supported Charlton for too long and beyond hope ... ?

    ;o)
  • I'm sure he'll soon have us bouncing up the table.

lol .... BFR does have a sense of humour. Nailed on. FACT!

    ;o)
  • [cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Scoham, I think Spring can play wide ala Graham Stuart. Look him up on FM2009 and check for me : - )

Jest Mart77, when have you ever known me to jest?

If FMs right he has played wide before but probably not very often. CM his main position.

If he's as good as he is in FM, he's no better than what we have. We'll see though.

I think he'll start tomorrow alongside Semedo, then it's 2 from Shelvey or Waghorn (not both), Burton and Gray.
  • Could be a case of playing 3 or 4 central midfielders, at least in the first half, keep it tight, don't let forest have any space, force them outwide and make them try to cross to their diminutive front pairing.

Likely with Bailey out suspended. Sam on one side and maybe Basey on the other. Don't know if Parky would play Shelvey wide. Doesn't seem like a wide player to me and might expose him too much defensively.

I can see PP going 4-4-1-1 again with either Waghorn or Shelvey in the hole and Burton up top

Spring is sprung, the grass is ris, I wonder where the three points is?
  • So a midfield four out of Sam/ Spring /Holland /Semedo /Ambrose/Pacey with Shelvey in the hole behind Burton?

In which case, I'd go Sam/Spring/Holland/Ambrose.

Or does Matty remain at central defender with Hudson on the bench? In which case Semedo alongside Spring. I'd be tempted by that, but don't think Parky will...

Love your reference to Basey as Pacey, which he patently is not, lol

Holland at CB was a revelation last time out against Norwich, superb in that sweeper role and organising the back 4.
We might just get away with it again tomorrow, as Forest have a midget front line ....?

    Just pondering out loud ...............
  • I can see him putting Shelvey on the bench, so maybe Basey has more chance of starting, to give us a decent set piece taker?

Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Ambrose start. Does he do enough for 90 minutes for Parkinson though?

Yes, Pacey Basey was a quite deliberate and rather puerile attempt at irony , on my part Oggster...but re. central defence, I would be seriously tempted to play Holland there again. I could imagine the whippet Earnshaw making hay with the carthorse Hudson (I didn't call him a donkey, because that would be unfair - but I reckon carthorse is fair).

And Scoham, I agree Ambrose is not the man for a 90 min shift. But I can see him starting and then giving way after 65-70 mins : if he is meant to be one of our few saleable assets, we probably need to put him in the shop window. I just hope its not Shelvey on the bench who then comes on for 20 mins. May be it should be the other way round, in fact?

I would prefer it that way around, Shelvey will tire but can spray passed, something Ambrose probably could do, but doesn't. Though it's harder to do it when you're always played on the wing. Ambrose can come on and get a goal or be involved in a move.

Maybe he'll start Ambrose in Shelvey's position, with Basey on the left, Sam on the right?

A lot of possibilities with Ambrose back and Shelvey is back involved in the first team in certain games.

Agree about Holland, would be happy for him to play there again.
  • Think it's better we keep Ambrose well away from the first team if we're trying to sell him, don't want his insipid performances putting anyone else off. It's already done for any hopes of flogging him back to Ipswich after all.
  • Spring is not a bad player..you get the feeling a central Midfielder could be on his way ..Shelvey or Zi Zi or that other little Tiger Peacock....some one buy him a new tie for the Advert-.
