Matthew Spring (born 17 November 1979, in Harlow, Essex) is an English central midfielder currently playing for Sheffield United on loan from Luton Town.
Like the sound of this (although at under 30 he''s a bit young for us!).
He was one of the heroes of Watford's promotion season. Found this on a Watford fan site about his contribution that season:
''He came from Leeds with something to prove to Aidy and typically sceptical fans and by the end of that mad afternoon in Cardiff he became one of the star turns in a season of amazing and unexpected highlights. Straight into a team of unknowns, favourites for the drop, Spring was a hit straight from the off, scoring on his debut against Burnley. Weighing in with a frankly obscene number of goals for a midfielder, Spring was the first to leave the celebrations at Cardiff and trot off down the tunnel. Whilst the players donned silly wigs and sprayed champagne it was Spring who departed in a manner that was the equivalent of pulling up his shirt to reveal a t-shirt that simply said "Job Done". ''
Let's be honest, we ain't getting any names in and we're going down so why not take a punt on someone from lower down whos' at least looked half decent. Good luck to him (if it's for real of course!)

Been playing in this division for Sheff U and Watford before that despite being a Luton player.

He might technically be a Luton player ....... but at 29, has played most of his football in the Championship for Luton, Leeds, Watford and Sheff Utd, so his pedigree says he's no lower league hopeful.
He also sounds like the type of player hungry for another chance ..... you know, the type of character
that Curbs and Lennie the Legend liked to sign.

Sorry, a few months ago I would have had an email from Chris Parkes with all the details but now I'm just a no nothing pleb like the rest of you (no offence)
Liking this. Always thought he was a decent player - good goalscoring record from midfield too. Might compliment Bailey nicely. Northern monkeys probably just got the arsehole because he hasn't settled up there (remember they had the same situation with Graham Stuart - he worked out a good signing for us)

Didn't catch that.
As I said it just came on the end of the sports report on the wireless.

Sounds like the right type of player we need.
''That should greatly aid them in their campaign to get relegated.''
Nice to know that other fans are as sarcastic and cynical as we are !

" good ridance another player offering nothing and taking good money"
or
"that should help them in their plan to get religated"
Seem to recall he has scored against us too
Hard working, goal scoring midfielder who can play on the outside of a tight midfield or in the middle
The new Graham Stuart and boy do we need one of them.
PARKY HOPES SPRING WILL BLOSSOM FOR CHARLTON...
