  • Good player hope he comes
  • we someone called eternal so we would have Fortune---Spring-----Eternal.
  • [cite]Posted By: Goonerhater[/cite]Oggy i suggest u read what the Blades fans are saying.

" good ridance another player offering nothing and taking good money"

    or

"that should help them in their plan to get religated"

Just the sort of thing most of our fans say about Andy Gray, despite him being leading goalscorer and only starting half our games.

Spring - How much is he going to cost?
Has he got the right character to fit in the team at the moment.
    Will he do the job?

That's all we should be interested in.

He's only available because Sheff Utd have got about 10 CM's at the moment - and some of them may offer something different in their present combinations.

Same reason as Bowyer moved from West Ham to Brum. Or is he shit also?
  • [cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Not confirmed other than on BBC London and journalists don't always get it right : - ) so don't get too exciting/upset/angry/depressed just yet.

Heard a whisper earlier today we were trying to get the deal done today, so i think there is some merit in it.
  • Good player who can play centrally or the sort of wide position that Stuart coined and Ambrose destroyed!

Really hope he signs... him Racon and Bailey could be the midfield unit that gets us going
  • It sounds very much a similar sitation to the one with Bouazza.

Not too many Sheff U seem disappointed about this though....
  • This sure has put a Spring in my step lolz etc...

Never heard of him. CM means ZZ is off :-(

Agree, that's my picture of him. Hope we are right.
  • I expected him to sign this time last year for some reason or other - can't remember what it was exactly - but thought we'd sign him up to flesh out our squad at that time.

Blades' fans are seriously underwhelmed by him and fans are usually right - Faye, Walton and McCarthy come to mind, although D Bent bucked that trend - however, let's be honest, Sheffield United and Charlton are occupying different levels of the food chain right now. Plus, he's never played regularly for them so he's not had that many opportunities to impress...I hope.

Proven at this level before, can score goals too, and, importantly, would be a good addition if we go down...

As would Wayne Brown...so Parky may be looking to construct a side that would definitely be in with a shout of promotion from League One, as our current squad would struggle for sure.

Not bad for a club with no money - won't be too impressed if this is another loan...

But you didn't tell anyone who you had a whispered conversation with this morning.

You know who your mates are : - )

  • Just found an interview in which he raves about playing with James Beattie. Wonder what he's going to make of Gray and Burton!!!
  • happy with that, decent player BUT how many CM's do we need, and will it halt Jonjo's progress. Bailey, Racon, Shelvey, Wright, Holland, Spring ....Please get a decent striker in Parky !!!

Well even if it does not go through, he won't be playing much longer with Beattie, as he is reportedly off to Stoke

Forget our current players - who do you suggest Large?

McCarthy - judging by his Palace performances I'd like to think we are all wrong about him.
  • Spring hung around and was very loyal to Luton when they were in trouble, so has the right mentality.

McCarthy - judging by his Charlton performances I'd like to think we are all right about him.
  • he wasn't that bad for us - had a few mares at the beginning but think we all made him the scapegoat for Pardew's crap team
  • an old colleague of mine was at a BBQ with McCarthy.............said he loved it at Charlton and was gutted to leave.

no reason for McCarthy to say this as my old colleague made it clear to him he wasn't a Charlton fan
  • i seem to recall Pardew was after Matt Spring last season. hmmmm is someone else getting our players in ?
  • that one Sprung out of nowehere....

  • Parky's been in and around this division for a long time now. I guess there are a few players who have played with/for or even against Parky that have left an impression.

These seem to be the players Parky is trying to bring in now.
  • he wasn't that bad for us - had a few mares at the beginning but think we all made him the scapegoat for Pardew's crap team

Agree with you but that because he couldn't pass 5 yards and cost us a load of points.

I hated McCarthy but on that basis Hudson has got away with blue murder in comparison.
  • [cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]happy with that, decent player BUT how many CM's do we need, and will it halt Jonjo's progress

i'd be inclined to think he'll play a wide role Large

We only have Sam what with Bouazza and Gillespie gone, or convert Moo2 (a bit risky when we need someone in there now) or Basey (too slow) or throw Wagstaff in (again risky and don't think he's up to it)
  • Never quite understood the stick Paddy got...he didn't start off that well and maybe some folk never got past their early impressions of him.
I thought he came on a bundle and popped up with a couple of point saving goals here and there as well if I'm not mistaken.
  • Now is the winter of our discontent made glorious by this --- SPRING !!!

I do hope we're not building him up too much. esp as it's not even confirmed yet!
  • McCarthy has a great character and never-say-die spirit - a bog standard Championship defender with basic ability and no pace. But in combination with a fleet-footed footballing CB like Bougherra, he was effective.

Unfortunately, no sooner had their partnership began to look good, Magic got injured.

But Paddy Mac, for all his shortcomings - especially when hopelessly exposed by a non-tackling, non-covering midfield like last season's, played his part.

I was sorry to see him go, but understood why he went.
  • I liked Paddy a lot don't see loads of extra in Hudson; probably better but I would have preffered someone a lot more tactically aware than those two.

If we get Matty Spring I'd be hellishly happy. Been watching him since the late 90's at Luton. For me is a perfect signing as manager's who want 'big' names often overlook him for worse players; most of those players are bigger and stronger but can't pass or score. He scores, he assists and his range of passing is excellent. My only one worry is he's not a hellishly ferocious tackler, which I think we desperately need. Still I think his footballing brain will be excellent to guide Bailey a bit more. With Holland to come on as sub a very good champ midifield. With Bailey in league one a top combo.
  • Can't we quit all this 'building a team for League One stuff'.....?

You're talking Charlton into a footballing grave. But we ain't dead yet!

We've a relegation fight on - we've new blood coming into the side, we're beginning to look like a proper team at last, and we've 20 games and 60 points to fight for.

Come on, guys. Who's feckin side are you on .....?????
