Not sure if this should be here or in AFKA's new thread on improbable headlines on the O/S, but it is a little ironic that immediately above the pitch inspecton story there is now a match preview of what the OS calls ''undoubtedly the Addicks' most crucial game of the season thus far."
And just below it there is a story about tickets that boasts : "The biggest Valley attendance of the season will watch Charlton's crucial Championship clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday".

exactly, played on Saturday the crowd could be 26k. Played midweek nearer 20k. Diff of 6k fans equates to 120k in lost revenue. Repairing the bubble seems small potatoes compared to that. Maybe that is how we got into this state in the first place.
B your having a party of 20 in the Centre Circle, well the game is bound to be called off. how the hell can they play a game of football with a party going off in the middle of the pitch
Well, I've just been out and come back to a very thorough and detailed email reply from Ketman's dad and although I tried to be polite, I was a bit angry in my email, so I probably didn't deserve him to make such an effort.
I now realise, of course, that it is Mick (he must be Rick's brother ;-) - o..oh, is that 1905 I see coming over the hill?)
What a lovely man in any case. I am now completely reassured that they are trying everything possible to get the match to go ahead.
And he realises he'll have me and Curb_It to answer to otherwise...and that's nearly as big a threat as 1905 sitting on you, I reckon...
All power to you and your team, Mick, if you are reading this...

Paddy's out there on the pitch as we speak with a blow torch and 20 B&H !
My 'pitch' or lawn if u like is still hard but quite soft in places, ive done the key test and everthing but haven't had my 'covers' on it..... plus looks like the sun might come up in a bit??
I want to go to football tomorrow, come on the sun!!
I have asked my Dad to bribe the Ref to keep the game on but he said we did not have any money so they are offering him Valley Gold membership free of charge for rest of season with a promise of a free second season if we get promoted.
when pegging up a net last sunday, it was quite noticeable that although the surface was hard, once past that the ground underneath was very soft. Not sure how much that would have changed in the last week.
Can't be bothered to read all 140+ posts but why is there an inspection today when the game is tomorrow?
It could pass an inspection today but deteriorate by tomorrow or be deemed unplayable today but be ok tomorrow. What is the point of it today?

to be fair on all the Forest fans travelling?
tho forest is hardly like travelling to newcastle for a night game only to be called off an hour before.
I think the problem has come from after the Norwich game the pitch was really cut up and taken a beating.
The ground then froze which means Paddy couldnt work on it to repair it so not only is the ground frozen but it is still in an awful state since last week. Not that it should matter considering the state of some pitches we have seen over the years!

The comapny that repaired the bubble went bust.
& the club was let down.

That's early, i would have thought it would be a bit later to give the ground time to thaw out!?
