[cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]but also why start a thread you know will cause a stir if you aint up for it and i haven't dug anyone out just asked questions in a civil manner.
to be fair, the thread that started wasn't about the fans forum. you asked him if he'd put your opinion across, he said he would, and now its descended into a farcical thread.
[cite]Posted By: northstandsteve[/cite]good post inspector, you wont mind people diggin you back then will you ;-)
Dig away, I don't care. I don't expect anyone to identify with where I come from, but by the same token I'm not that fussed about about others. I'm not that fussed as long as it's not done with the amount of bile seen on here. Save the hate for what really matters.

[cite]Posted By: InspectorSands[/cite]Charlton depress me at the moment, but there's other things in life to keep my spirits up.
Not everyone has that benefit in their life, especially in the current climate.
Football is supposed to be something that brings enjoyment, so for me at least, it's perfectly understandable why some are getting so upset.
To an extent, I agree - like I said, I think football, especially at Charlton, has been a lightning rod for people's dissatisfaction with their own lives, but that was true even during the times when the outside world true was booming. Yeah, this messageboard has brought together a collection of people who are pissed off and feel shat upon in their day-to-day lives. I just wish they wouldn't try to bring everyone else down to their levels. (And if they are long-term depressed, then outside help is probably a better option than contstant moaning on t'internet.)
am i right in thinkin inspector you believe we have some very worrying troubled times ahead as this is a view i share, could you elaborate on them for me whether on this thread or maybe a whisper, cheers

I think it's fair to say that if we're relegated, we'll definitely be dancing on the edge of a razor blade - the implosion of Bradford City springs to mind. This isn't based on an any inside information, I think it's just common sense. I know we've a board who will pull out all the stops (and hopefully the cash) to stop things going totally tits-up, but relegation will certainly put at risk the very future of CAFC unless we have a season like Leicester are having. Yes, we can all dream of standing in League One terraces watching Proper Football with Proper Fans... but be careful what you wish for. That's why I refuse to get completely downhearted now - these could be good times compared to what's ahead.

Even if there is even worse news on the horizon, do we need to know at this point .....?
It will just set off another bout of doom and gloom - and create more of the bad energy that's already strangling this club.
Oggy's last sentence sums things up - of course, if we pull ourselves out of this mess, who knows where we'll be next season? Back in the Premier League by the Olympics? That's the kind of target we probably need to set ourselves now, if we pull ourselves clear.
(cue 14 miserable single posts insisting we won't pull ourselves clear because of Parky/the board/the state of the world)
well i liked the premiership and too many people focused on the good points of the championship and look where we've ended up ... anyway division one has some lovely grounds.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

OohAah, for the love of God Curbs will you just give it a rest? I don't think anyone on the board could have failed to notice by now that you liked the Premiership, as you keep harping on about it at every possible opportunity, when you're not going on about our dreadful away support. It's starting to come across as some kind of exotic version of Tourette's. Surely you have something interesting to say on another topic instead?

See Inspector, this is exactly what gets my goat.
You're gripe is people moaning, yet in a beautiful irony you use your energy to run down others, under the collective of 'here'. What's said here is 'bile', yet what you say is 'gallows humour'. Yet if you look on here you will see every view and stance covered, yet you choose to focus only on the ones which you disagree with. Are Suzi or Oggy's or Sco's, or 3blokes, or Killers Beards wonderfully endearing, optimistic and hopeful approaches 'bile' ? Are the two stickied threads not examples of gallows humour, or are they bile as well ?
Its like a winger sticking in 5 good crosses, then shouting 'your shit' the minute he sticks one in the stands. I'm fed up with people running down this forum and fellow fans.
Not only does the sentiment of knocking your own go against me, but i really think it is wholly unjust. You show me a group of supporters in this land or another messageboard of views, which would not be identical if they were wearing our shoes for the past few years, and with our club showing no clear signs of cohesion. You won't find one, all you would find is it would be twice as bad everywhere else.
AFKA, I'm not saying the whole board is full of it - yes, there's the stickies and Suzi and Oggy's admirable optimism.
But it's seeing the board full of posts like this...
[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]well i liked the premiership and too many people focused on the good points of the championship and look where we've ended up ... anyway division one has some lovely grounds.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
...which just chips away at me. I can't think of anywhere else where "rose-tinted" has become a term of abuse.
Steady everybody ...... this is a forum, an exchange of opinion.
This board is mainly a moaning board at the moment - but we all know why.
Some of us do attempt to balance things out a bit; in my own case, I just try to strip the emotion away from the situation, see how things factually are and see what could be done with a fresh approach.
People call that 'rose-tinted specs' or blind optimism. But Heigh-ho, so what.
It's just an exchange of opinion.
Exactly, Oggy. If people have a think about what I've had to say, then I'll be happy. But I don't think this is the time to be overly-defensive, it's just an exchange of opinions, and we've all got them.
Hi everyone! I've been reading this forum for quite some time but never got round to joining. Until now.
Inspector Sands and myself have crossed swords before. He holds the 'honour' of being the only blog owner to drive me away from his blog. And i read some Charlton blogs! as Mrs Daggs would tell you. The Inspector seems to have a very definite opinion that we all should be 'happy, clappy Charlton chappies' and no word of criticism should ever be uttered. I accept his point that there is a load of criticism right now, hardly surprising in the circumstances. But he seems unable to accept the opinions of those who see Charlton's current demise differently to him. In fact he will often tell you or me the fans' are the problem. It's the booing at the games that has caused our demise you see. Nothing to do with incompetence in the Boardroom, managers office or players on the pitch. Oh No! it's us the fans.
it is self abuse for me hurting and moaning on here because we are so shite
and it is Self abuse being so Rose Timted i should know i was once that way myself
The positive people are in my mind spot on i wish i still was, because when you wake up and all you think about is doom and gloom it is fecking horrendous.
but in the end unless you are a 100% positive person and there truely are not that many in the wole world, infact i know a fair few people, but there is not 1 person who i know who's glass is always half full,
the reality and enormity of what will happen if things dont change will soon be consuming your life as it does a huge amount (majority not used) of folks on here.
i would say i find the positives in alot of things that i do some that work out others that dont but i look to see the positives in them
Alas my Glases snapped and the lenses fell out but lets not all be so silly to think that Rose tinted is a term of abuse it seems a bit strong to be honest
same as i dont think NSS ever took those that called him Mr negative in that way that he thought to be insulting it is just a term
Can somebody lend me some of these rose-tinted specs, please? Because I certainly don't feel contempt for these people who can keep on smiling through the nightmare. I envy them!
I'm with Rothko we will all support charlton (other than SOS Johnboy Etc) whatever league we are in and what goes up can come down and visa versa (barring wimbledon)

I just wished all those who moaned about negativity etc. would help like Oggy by trying to make this a more positive place rather than just sniping at others.

Peace and LOVE, PEACE AND LOVE!
I lent them to Mr Pardew.
He never gave them back.

You should have been a hippy, Dazzler.
Peace man!

Oggy - perhaps he lent them to Parky? Or may be he's still wearing them on the beach on holiday in Barbados at our expense, or wherever he is...
But the facts are:
1) We won't lose another fixture this year.
2) We are safe from relegation. At least until the end of the season.
See......? It's not as bad as you thought !
;o)
