Was speaking to my Vets Manager at Weekend who played under Billy Davies when out on Loan to Motherwell, he said he was clueless as a Manager did not know how to handle players which I found quite interesting, he also said George Burley was hopeless as well.
Burley was one of the names being banded around to take the job with us... Look at the situation with there striker now, there having a public slanging match and rowing over who is more patriotic, burley did well at ipswich for a couple of terms but never thought he was top draw, didnt he get linked with a few top jobs whilst at ipswich? he had a decent team to : Herman, Holland, Ambrose Bent..... DOH!!!!
I will be totally honest and say that I don’t like Pardew. On Christmas Eve 2006 when he was appointed I was elated, however since then I have seen a different side of the guy.
Last season he failed to deliver. Technically and financially we were one of the strongest teams in the championship. However Pardew failed to motivate the team and we suffered embarrassing defeats to the likes of Colchester, Scunthorpe Blackpool to name but a few.
This season has started even worse; apart from the Reading game most performances have been poor. The players drop their heads far to easily when we concede a goal, and there is a lack of belief within the team. Pardew really irritates me when he repeatedly makes reference to his time at West Ham. However what he forgets to remind people is that this was is the guy who when at West Ham was given two world class players in Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez but decided that West Ham would be better playing the likes of Hayden Mullins in preference to Carlos Tevez.
If Zabeel does invest would you keep Pardew. The answer probably is no. His track record is nothing special and I wouldn’t trust him with my money. I don’t know whom we should have, but apart from Dowie no manager could have done such a poor job as Pardew has done for the past 15 months. I just cannot see any improvement while Pardew continues to manage the team.
what gets me is that if Zabeel does come in and gets rid of Pardew, you know the arrogant git will just go round saying he was sacked cos Zabeel wanted a big name manager etc...
Nah, if Zabeel comes in and gets rid, its cos you are a clueless, arrogant twerp Pards...
I just wish he would stick to a consistant team, instead of the constant chop and change, it smacks of someone who isn't secure in his decision making or beliefs, and hides it a bit with a shed load of management talk bullshit.

But with almost 2 years left on his contract he'd get a nice little pay off.
And how KenTred can say Pardew is worse than Les Reed, dear oh dear!!

We still don't have a strongest team, haven't really for a couple of years now.
Thing is if he brings in Todorov and Dickson tonight and we lose, some fans will say he changes the team too much. If he keeps Varney and Gray and we lose, everyone will say isn't it about time Dickson and Todorov got a run in the team.
I know what you mean though. He's tried to stop doing it this season, but there are players who have been in the team for most of the season like Youga who aren't performing, Bouazza has been inconsistent, Varney and Gray just aren't scoring enough (fair enough a lot of thats down to service).
The original question was whether you have changed your stance following the summer poll or whether you stick with it.
I sem to be one of few that have changed. I said give Pardew the season but in all hoesty I did not expect to see us in 19th place in the league after 11 games, performing inconsistently (mostly poorly) and with a team selection process that has the problems of last season writen all over it.
Baffling omissions (Moo2, Semedo, Shelvey, Basey), poor strike partnership, systems not working, loan players picked ahead of our own players and, Bailey and Hudson apart, a disappointing transfer record.
I have moved to the give him until November camp, which for me means the next four games. I know that it might be difficult if the Dubai money doesn't arrive.
I was very happy with the Pardew appointment; I always believed he'd be Charlton's manager someday, therefore I would be very happy to support a keep Pardew post on here after four successive victories in the next four games.

I know how you feel mate, and i admire your supportive instinct.
We're just showing no signs of standing still at the moment, let alone moving forwards.
Pardew has said before he thinks he is a lucky manager. We'll he needs to be, because i don't think people are being unreasonable stating he is very much in the last chance saloon.
If it weren't for the takeover situation, I think he'd be on his way soon if we were able to afford to pay off his contract.
As it is, it's nearing the stage of him being a dead man walking anyway.
If it all goes through, you just can see him being kept on for long. If it doesn't, and we're still struggling for form, then he could easily be out by Christmas anyway.
in the first 25 mins we smashed them, then when you needed the mgr to get into them at half time and support them and get them back to doing what they did in the first qtr of the game he couldnt do it.
I am not sure if he can go whilst we are in these talks but he is running on thin ice and it is breaking all around him the question being unless we do get taken over who the fuk will we get
Is the budget that limited, that we can only get Kinsella. Cracking player but worst scenario as manager. Takeover or not Allardyce might be a good option?
Just got in from the game and read AP's comments on the website and you know what? I actually began to feel a bit sorry for him. He sounded like a condemned man in his cell fearing the worse but still hoping - against all logic - for that 11th hour miracle of clemency which will spare him:
" we lost our way, lost our confidence ..I'm beginning to wonder if a good consistency and level of performance is ever going to come from some of the members of the side...some of the signings we have made have worked well and some not so well...I have no complaints with the crowd tonight, the complaints I have are of the inconsistencies in our performance.”
OK, no admision that he was at fault in those signings and no recogntion of the fact that the crap second half performance was evidence of his failure to instil the required direction at half-time...but am I alone in detecting the first hint that he has finally come to some vague awareness of how bad we have become and that he realises it cannot continue?
lost the dressing room....lost the crowd.....just leave Pards....anybody know if he resigns do we have to buy out his contract?....if so he will wait to be fired.....
didn't comment when the thread originated, but pretty sure sure i voted to give him all season, and have recently been saying who else is out there?
i am now of the opinion that any manager out there would be hard pressed to get less out of our squad than pardew currently is.
whether we can afford to get rid is another matter.

But how likely is that?
What? You want Obama to be our next manager?
Even that Palin woman might do a better job at the moment ;-)

The word "Untenable" springs to mind.
I have backed him all the way but admit there are serious problems now.
As i said, last chance saloon. 3 games to save his job.
I am not sure if he can go whilst we are in these talks but he is running on thin ice and it is breaking all around him the question being unless we do get taken over who the fuk will we get
you didn't say that
you said 'last change saloon'
As for a replacement, well that is the problem. Do Chappell and Waggott have a plan? I doubt it.
If no takeover, probably Kinsella. A legend but an out and out gamble.
