Has Alan Pardew now lost the fans?

  • [cite]Posted By: kinveachyaddick[/cite]Bouzza is a £5m pound player
Ambrose was a competent performer in the Premiership for Ipswich and Newcastle
    ZZ is China captain

if Palace have anyone as good as that apart from Watson in midfield then you're watching a different game of football to me

If Bouazza is worth £5 million then I'm a dutchman.
Ambrose is so inconsistent for us.
ZZ may be China captain but can you name another Chinese superstar?

I wasn't at the game last night so maybe I shouldn't comment but Watson, Moses even Ifill sounded like they pi$$ed all over us for 90 minutes.
  • Still has my support, but like Smudge we need to see something in the next 8 weeks to have that support justified.

The thing was 5 in midfield was ok last night, it was just that the 5 played so far away from each other it left a big hole for Derry and Watson to pick up second balls and ping passes about.

Would love to see Jackie Chan in our midfield :0)

It was the Pretenders Henry - no wonder they abolished the fans director with that lack of detail

    Chrissie Hynde to replace Pardew?

You feel into my trap BW It was the Persuaders : - )
  • I can't see anybody we could REALISTICALLY attract who is any better than Pardew so he has my support for now.

If Curbishley was to intimate that he would be prepared to come in at a realistic wage then I would think again. However that won't happen.

No, you need to slim down a bit. Humble lettuce for you. : -)
  • There is no way the board will press the panic button again like we did with Dowie and Reed. I presume that they will accept a few poor seasons in order to get back the stability Charlton was famed for. Although I am pannicking a bit I can see the sense in giving a manager four seasons or so to get things right. I still back Pardew at the moment but I have to say I ain`t happy.
  • Yes. His tactics are inexplicable. And he seems to think that last nights performance was actually all part of a game plan. Which must be true considering it sounds similiar to the last two away performances. You can't set up like that and just hope to ride your luck when you're playing teams in the relegation zone. It's just plain insanity.

    Is there any other kind?

    Iceberg
  • I'm behind him full stop.

The next 4 games will be telling. We have 3 out of 4 at home and a chance if we were to pick up 6-9 points of breaking into the play offs. It is a really tight league again. Being in red hot blazing form at this stage means absolutely nothing. Watford looked like they were going to walk the league last year and went out with a whimper.

My view is that he does need to get the blend right and he hasn't yet. For all of his trickery, Sam's end product both in terms of crossing and shooting is woeful, so out he should go and in should come Ambrose, who though inconsistent at times, knows how to hit the back of the net and can create chances. Holland I have utter respect for, but not for me if playing alongside Bailey. Not enough variance in their styles. I'd play ZZ or Shelvey in there, if Bailey does the protect the back four role and Shelvey can express himself freely for instance. If fit enough, I'd play Todorov, as he can unlock the toughest of defences with his very experienced and technically gifted skill set.

We will go on a run at some point and I'm not fretting yet, but AP does need to recognise some weaknesses and throw loyalty towards certain players out of the window in order to get things right.

We've been in worse situations with lesser squads over the years and turned things around and believe we will do the same again this year. 9 games out of 46 eases any pressures or concerns for me.

I fully agree with all that. My issue is that he said after Saturday that he was going to change it round. But didn't, apart from one player.
  • Well said Pavo, a well-reasoned post
  • I'm sorry , but i can't get past the fact that Luke Varney WAS winning the ball in the air and knocking it onto No-one.
    Surely that is Pardews thinking/plan.

    okay, the players let us down last night, but why do we have to have aminimum of 3 "loanplayers" in every side;
surely they aren't as committed as your Baileys, Hollands, etc.

I agree except that I thought he spent last season getting the blend right.

  • 'The Thin Line Between Love and Hate' was performed by Iron Maiden on their album 'Brave New World' (2000). Really boys, you should know these things!
  • Isn't there "a good tradition of love and hate" ?
  • Can't quote Oggy over the page, but I'm not looking for people to say I was right - I would still prefer to be proved wrong, as I don't relish more upheaval, don't think it would be at all right for Curbs to come back, and am not sure what other options we have. Would love to think Kins could do it, but it would be a big gamble.

OK, I was one of the first to say I'd lost it with Pards, but that was after over a year in the job - it was the New Year's Day match v Colchester that was the final straw for me. By then I had heard enough of his bullsh*t and was getting increasingly worried about his tactics and motivational ability. Unfortunately, those worries have only been exarcebated by the season to date. How long should we wait for these green shoots of improvement? My patience has run out, others is running out. Above all, what do the players really think? Some of them aren't stupid, and if we feel he is all over the shop tactically, surely they are aware of that too and will lose (or maybe have lost) faith in him?

And I'm not saying this to stir things up / create unrest. I'm saying it because I care deeply about the future of our club and have huge sympathy for the board, who potentially have to face more tough decisions unless Pardew can miraculously conjure up a few wins on the spin and a formation that works.
  • [cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]No

Despite feeling depressed this morning, I still support him 100%. But we very much need to see signs of progress over the next month. If that fails to materialise, then i'll start questioning my logic.

This is a long season where things change very quickly. One win can very quickly turn into a run. We're having a bad spell at the moment, but that's when you have to suck it in and ride it.

This time last year Watford were well clear and Palace were bottom 2.

Lets make one thing clear. We all know Pardew is not going to be sacked in the next few weeks, that is given. So people attempting to cause unrest now will serve no purpose other than seeing us implode further.

Is that what you really want ?

That is exactly how I feel.

    I totally agree to that.
  • I don't agree in this sense - the results on the pitch and what most fans see him doing and saying will have a far greater impact than what is said on here (if that is what you're suggesting).

What the questioner was asking (or was it?) is has Pards lost the fans, clearly he hasn't yet. I'd say only a small minority but its beginning to happen to a significant degree (i.e. not just me moaning about him on here).
  • [cite]Posted By: BigRedEvil[/cite]Wasn't Pardew on the verge of being sacked at West Ham, the season he got them promoted? All the Spammers hated him if I recall.

Maybe he needs to be hated to perform....

We were very very lucky to get promoted the season we did under pardew.
We were shocking for the most part of that season, in particular defensively.
It wasn't a coincidence we started to perform better when Pardew finally decided to stop tinkering with various centre half pairings (many loan signings) and started playing the then youngsters Anton Ferdinand & Elliot Ward together. The fans had been crying for this for an age, it made so much more sense to play two decent youngsters whom had played together for years in the youths, than playing the likes of Malky mackay with christian dailly (bags of pace those chaps had), or Darren Powell & even hayden mulins out of position etc..
Had we not scrapped into the play offs that year Pardews managerial record would have looked a lot more suspect.
  • I'm gutted and furious with pards lack of 'NOUS'!!

I'll still be there this sat thou, cheering the boys on, maybe some abuse after 90 min, or mayb i'll just turn away and show my back in disgust
