  • Thanks for the help guys. Time to look into this route thingy again me thinks. Nice site by the way, as has been mentioned more than once on our site, Charlton seem a tidy club and I'm looking forward to 9th August. I'm sure I'll post on here before then though.
  • TIDY!

    Love it!
  • nothing like a bit of spice first game of the season good atmosphere would rather have the taffs for the first game at home rather than away we should be alright and after the third goes in they will quiten down and then leave early
  • FAO Swansea fans

What web-site do you post on?

    Many Thanks

Don't quite get that, care to explain?
  • LOMF and other visitors, check out our Ground Guide and map of the surrounding areas.
  • As per my original post on this at the start of the thread should we be looking on restrictions for ticket sales as home areas are now sold out? This is something the club did a lot in the Prem and would often kick people out of home areas for simply supporting their team. As result a lot of our 'newer' supporters now thing it is unacceptable to have away supporters in home ends even when all they are simply trying to do is watch their team play. The second the oppo score all sorts of standing up and pointing occurs, something that causes no end of grief.

For the record I have no problem with away fans being in the home ends providing they are not causing trouble. As a regular at Rugby league games it is great to have no segregation but who can still sing at one another, have banter and still get behind their team.
  • I had to go in the away end several times last season and had no bother at all. Like johnny says ~I'm there to support my team and not cause bother. Besides apart from the obvious exception of cardiff I would imagine most of the herd wouldn't dream of entering the home end for a game like Charlton v Swansea, there is no history afaik and contrary to common misconception most of the so called thugs are fans as well and for a lot it's all about posturing more than having a tear up. These days anyone caught causing problems insode a football ground are looking at a minimum 3 year ban and as a lot would be season ticket holders the thought of losing that privelage is deterrant enough. The people I travel to games with are aged between very late 30's and into their early 50's and whilst we might look a motley crew we have never ever been caught in any sort of bother and would activly protest at our own fans who act loutish and have done in the past. I've never understood why football fans generally support segragation and are horrified at the thought they might be sitting next to someone who follows the opposition.

I would have thought any club in the championship would be delighted with the dosh raised by 3.5K away fans paying top price to see a game. I bet there wont be too many sides around in the division that day who will take such a large support. Certainly in the first division with the exception of Leeds we took over 1,000 to every away game including many trips north to carlisle, hartlepool, yorkshire, southend whereas we only had about an average of a couple of hundred coming to Swansea the money raised by Charlton on the 9th from swansea will be a decent amount I'm confident that neither Forest nor Doncaster will bring anywhere near the same amount. If it means the home end isn't sold out and another thousand could be accomodated then surely this would be worth it money wise.
  • I'm still going to give this a miss.

Well done in selling your 3,500. Its a game in London another chance to gob off about a "Welsh invasion" , its a place where you can go for a weekend jolly, its the first game of the season in a higher league.

Please dont give it that all Swansea fans are fluffy . Not one will sing the usual anti English bolloxx will they ?

If Swansea fans sit in home areas and dont give it, dont leap up and down when they score etc so what. If they do then what ever hapens happens. Maybe the stewards will be as hot onit as someone being totaly extreme and standing up (the bastards !!).

Strange its it we are naffed off our ST sales are only 14,000 ish and Swansea are made up theirs have reached 10,000. Both for differant reasons are good.
  • our average away following last year was over 1,100, and thats despite tuesday night games at the likes of carlisle. we do have an excellent away following - and for the last few games in london i believe we've taken 1,000 to orient, 3,500 to brentford and around 600 to millwall which was a tuesday night game. for some of the higher profile games ie when we played sheff utd we took 5,000 there and for a promotion decider in bury a few years ago we had 5,500 in a crowd of 7,500.

so as you can see, we tend to take a lot away, and i can put my hand on heart and say only on 2 occasions have i ever seen serious trouble - bury and brentford. with this occassion i honestly believe it will be more of a carnival atmosphere, and you don't have anything to fear!
  • "you dont have anything to fear" u must be having a f**kin laugh pal ? Fear --- Swansea plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz .

Only the local live stock has any reason to worry about u.

The only Welsh man that worrys me is Charlotte Church
  • I have no fear

Nth London Jr will be going and we will be slumming it for the majority of this year as altohugh the coperate was good last year got slightly boring

Thats because people from small towns move to London for work, some of the smaller clubs from up north have quite large away support on a midweek game in London as they have a large ex-pat fan club in town.
  • Good afternoon to all you Charlton supporters. Not able to make the game due to work ( absolutely gutted ). Saw this post when I was on PlanetSwans, I could not guarantee there will be no trouble, but as a club since we moved to our new home the mentality has seemed to change (Taffs becoming civilized whatever next :) ).
Most of the sales for the game have been taken up by season ticket holders with a small amount going on general sale along obviously with the extra 225 on Saturday. My fellow Jacks have been correct in what they have posted. I cannot see any aggro with this game, yes it is in London and yes we have a large following going, but we are not strangers to travelling outside of Wales and most have been house trained, so the lights of the big city will not provide the glare you think they might.
As for our season we would be delighted with a mid-table finish, under Roberto Martinez we get the ball down and play some real good stuff. We have strengthened the squad in the area's we needed to and look to have a good squad for the forthcoming season. Any team that underestimates us will regret doing so.
I can see us putting in some good performances again this season and holding our own. I wont wish you good luck as I only want that for Swansea City, I do hope that your season is everything you want it to be though, as you all seem a good bunch.

Good post jrejack, and glad we're getting it back onto football. welcome to our site.

We started the season last year with the intention of playing good football on the floor, but quickly ditched that policy after getting a couple of physical beatings, particularly by Stoke.

It will be interesting if you find the physical nature and speed of this league greater than in League 1, whether Martinez will stick to his guns or not.

Difficult to say AFKA, with us being outside the 2nd tier for 24 years, its all new for us, what I will say is that some teams in the CC1 can sometimes be a little physical and we managed to come out of there ok. Everyone at the club and the City is really looking forward to the season and all the teams in the CCC ( except one. lol)
  • No one is saying you haven't benn outside Wales or not house trained, but look at the all factors.

Trip up to the capital (of England), first game of the season and all the buzz that that brings, playing in a higher division for whatever amount of years, 3000+ plus like minded people, hot weather (hopefully) and a big beer session no doubt for all involved.

If this was a normal Saturday in mid November with not a lot on the game, or no buzz around it, different scenario, different turnout of Jacks, different atmosphere.

I think we can contain ourselves, in the same vein that being out of the second tier for 24 years makes us unsure how we will fair on the football field, the same can be said for anybody's dealing with our supporters. You are judging us on a History which is dissapearing fast and we are nothing like our neighbours down the road. I am not for one minute saying we are angels but we are a different club from the one which you played last. How many times did you see Swansea making the headlines for the wrong reason last season. Only my opinion mind.

I'm sure you will contain yourself, I'm not trying to patronise you or your club.
Maybe so regards the headlines, but I am one of a few posters on here who has his ear to the ground more than most on this site regards active hooli clubs, and you dont have to make the press or the tv to be heard of, the grapevine network is very large and active.
We are nothing like our nearest neighbours from New Cross, but we have had our moments in the past that have not made the press, and we certainyl dont have a rep for it.

And with that, that's leave that there please. Any more trouble / potential for trouble posts should be directed towards the grapevine or sites that cater for that sort of stuff.

Its been raised, flagged and discussed. Lets get back to talking about the football now please guys, cheers.
  • Hopefully then all concerned can enjoy their day and your neighbours can head up North to the dire place called Oldham. What I will say is judge us when you see us if we kick off I will personally come on here and appologise ( thats the kind of guy I am ) but I am confident you will be pleasantly surprised. I did not for one minute think you were patronising us. No keyboard warrior here, only here for some banter and some Footie discussion.

And in response to an earlier post, You are bound to get some anti-English songs and some Cardiff ones.

One thing I think we can all agree on is that it is a good day with everyone enjoying ( us a litle more than you though) and a good game witnessed by all.

    No probs.......
  • I for one enjoy reading posters from other clubs on here, it's generally good banter - remember, I think, the Barnsley crowd from last year?

Bottom line ....... despite the different colours we wear, we're all football fans at heart. Long may it stay that way.
  • i have been to plenty of swans games home and away and only seen trouble once at cardiff which both teams give as good as they got apart from that they go away drink plenty of beer and have a good time just like we do

Most of us collapse after the drinking of plenty of beer. lol.

We are really looking forward to the 9th August and playing a good club like Charlton only helps, obviously you have sampled the sweet taste of the Premier league something we are aspiring to. How is your pre season going? We have played two games and a 'mini tournament' We have had a 6-0 win a 5-0 win and in the mini tournament a 4-0 win in 45 mins and a 3-0 win in the other 45 mins ( I shall explain if you really want me to) , granted the wins have been against Ostersunds , Neath (WPL) , Carmarthen (WPL) and Port Talbot (WPL). We are in spain at the moment, playing RCD Espanyol on Friday, Peralada CF on Sat, Palamos CF on Sunday and Barcelona B on Monday these should provide more of an insight for the start of the season.
  • We went to Spain but didn't really bother with the playing football bit.

You may beat us, but we will have the better tan....
  • Ok you got us on that one, just dont wear any bling or burberry with that tan. Not a good look. Trust me....;)
  • Im impressed with your well organised pre season!

Ours has been a complete and utter SHAMBLES!!
