In fairness Reams, what was Pardew supposed to say? There are a lot of games over christmas and new year and we've played poorly but the fact is that we are still 5th.

I'm sure he has had plenty of harsh words with the players about it but what good would come of it to berate them in public? I'm also sure that Padew is well aware of teams catching up with us, so what? We need to be looking at where we want to be not worrying about what other teams are doing.

I agree that there is a problem at the moment, your assessment of the midfield and long ball is spot on however whatever you may think, Pards isn't stupid and if we can see it, I'm pretty sure he can.

What we have to do is have faith in his ability and give him the chance to put it right. His track record suggests that he knows how to get teams promoted. I really cannot see what could be gained by sacking the manager and repeating past mistakes.
  • I still can't get my head round as to why some people are suggesting Pards should be replaced.

We're not on a long losing run and we're not in the relegation positions.

We've had a number of key players missing and together with our tactics at home being easily countered,
we've struggled to put together our form of a month or so ago.

We were lacking in creativity to unlock a side stubborn & determined not to surrender their lead given them by a fired up Charlton old boy. That was all.

All is not perfect but deserved or not, we are 5th in the table - and presently in as good a position as any of the promoted sides were at this same stage last season.

Sack the manager - whatever for?
  • Reams has a record of being proved wrong when he is in moan-mode so I'm looking forward to a wonderful 2008! Come on mate, you love it when we're having a rough patch! I've never seen you write more than 2 sentences when we're winning yet you could write the bible when we struggle. :)
  • Take what he says with a pitch of salt. He is just the same on his other message board. Extremely fickle. Half the time he has opinions on games he has not even seen.

tongue in cheek mate, i think your contributions on here in the past couple of days have been articulate and well written and its a opinion that mirrors a lot of people at the moment don't go on the defensive or i'll get my Rothko hat on and tell you to f-off. ;-)
  • I think Amos was just saying that you can't have a real opinion on a match you haven't been to/seen. Not criticising you for not going to a match.
  • *Dons tin hat and goes to the pub for lunch*
  • Read and heard in the news recently about Internet Bullying

It aint big and it is not clever i reckon we should all pull our necks in and knock that bollox on the head.

With regards to I am a proper fan ,no your not, yes i am bollox in our own way we all are so what the feck does it matter

Blogs and sites like this are fantastic for networking laughing and getting the frustration out of you it is not nice (for me anyway) to read people defending themselves from petty bollox that means nothing if we have have to resort to this lets all go on hooli sites and have it properly.

any way hows the snow watch coming on

gotta say it's easy for a lot of us to support Charlton from where we live,so I take my hat off to reams and everyone else who lives north of watford and travels regularly to follow Charlton (I know my missus wouldn't put up with it).I met reams for about 2 mins when we played Bolton away in F.A. CUP quarter finals and was gobsmaked and quite proud that someone who's old man was once assistant manager years ago still followed the club from Wales. So I will listen to his views and whether I agree with the or not give them the respect they deserve, coz there are some people on here who are startin to believe all the hype they get for doin certain things and are gettin right up my hooter but I wont turn in needless insults as they are obviously a lot more worthy than me.
  • One of the great things about reams is that he is totally committed to Charlton and very passionate about it, this is epitomised by the work he puts in on Covered End Choir, which sits very nicely alongside CL. His views are controversial, especially when Charlton are not doing too well, but they get a lot of discussion, when others respond constructively and that's what message boards are all about.
  • But you were ecstatic when we bought Mcleod. I distinctly remember you saying (over several paragraphs :D) that if Pardew and the board didn't get him before someone else did, we'd end up panic buying someone rubbish.
  • BUMP

    weegie and reamsofverse.... they knew!!!!
  • I'm not proud of it, though... :-(

Would much rather he had proved me wrong.
  • you gotta laugh or you'll cry .... to think we were
    [cite]Posted By: Rothko[/cite]5th

    when you wrote this;-)
  • We could have Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger or Jose Mourinho in charge and Reams would still be negative about something or other though!
