[cite]Posted By: Carter[/cite]Good work Ben, I don't think she fully appreciates the problems that will crop up if away fans aren't 'welcomed' in home areas which I find extremely difficult to believe. Will they be 'welcomed' if we repeat our new found habit of winning in the last minute away from home?
That would look good on TV wouldn't it.
This was Preston's response to the e-mails and phone calls from fans.
Dear
Further to our telephone conversation this morning I have been asked to contact you to get a message to the supporters who have been e-mailing us to let us know that they are going to purchase tickets for home areas on the day of the game and then return their away area ticket to us asking for a refund. Can you let them know that no refunds will be given and away supporters will be ejected from the ground if found to be seated in home areas.
Preston are totally with their right to eject away fans in home areas. We can do the same.
They are within the rules to have different prices.
What they are not doing, IMHO, is working within the spirit of the rules or considering the consequences of two tier pricing especially for a live TV game.

Yup, they are doing nothing wrong apart from p*ssing people off which happens every day.
let's just hope we can stuff it down their throats with a win
They are well within their rights to do so and I agree, I was referring to the football league lady who said it had worked before in these situations.
I think they will back down, fingers crossed, if they don't I believe we should do exactly the same thing to them for the home game. Tit for tat or not it's not on.
If the prices stay as they are maybe we could/should raise the profile of this into as many media channels as is possible and shame them and others into not doing this again as I cannot see it's benefits to the game or for the sporting greater good.
So one the one hand PNE are saying that they were not happy when this happened to them, but there supporters were welcomed into the home areas by the fans, and on the other they will throw out any Charlton supporters they find in the home areas. Nice attitude Preston!

and the same attitude we will adopt when they come to us, and so the cycle continues.

I expect it the decision to be reversed to include away fans, if not the club should certainly inform Preston that their own fans are likely to suffer when they later visit us.

I totally agree with everything being said on this thread and think it stinks that there are 2 pricing levels, but i would hope that our club would not pursue the root of charging there fans the extra just to get even. Afterall Preston fans are only going to be like ourselves trying to watch there club in the cheapest manner possible
[cite]Posted By: T[/cite]A nice banner with "PNE rip off away supporters" and not purchasing anything in the away end might well make them see the error of their ways
Or a few thousand flyers saying and explaining why that is the case doubtless a few will fall into the hands of a Sky man covering the game. Needs to be no bigger than A4 size and if enough are held up a camera will pick that up too.
You are on the ball today Henry. Think a call to The Sun by one of us would not go amiss. Or any national newspaper for that matter, they haven't got much to write about at the minute bar how piss poor England are.
[cite]Posted By: AFKA Bartram[/cite]be thankful for small mercies, at least there isn't a photo.....
LOL would you believe that they asked for one in case they run the story again next week.

If only there was a columnist on the Sun who was a Charlton season ticket holder who could be contacted.
Playing devils advocate here, but is this really any different to clubs offering kids for a quid tickets to home fans for certain games when a capacity crowd is unlikely? As far as I'm aware this doesn't extend to away fans either.
And I'd definitely give the museum a miss whoever is going up there, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yes it is different because this is not a targetted offer to a group of schools/youth groups or even kids for a quid (an idea I see that WHU have borrowed from CAFC) but an open offer to any fan on a walk up basis apart from the away fans.
Preston average 13k in a 20k stadium so not likely to sell out in any case and when we have offered cheap kids for a quid etc we've extended that to away fans.
But as established, they are well within their rights to do as they are.
Not every club is as charitable as you lot. I don't think I know of any other club who would be mad enough to offer free season tickets if you go straight back up. You should be thankful you've got a board that cares about their fans, instead of moaning that you can't save £10 on a ticket which half of you would be watching on the box anyway. How many of you would spend the extra £10 pre-game/half time on refreshments & a programme? Boycot these as PBS suggested and preston are not getting any more cash out of you.

Who asked you, Hamster? People on here like a good moan, and as we're doing well in the league at the moment moaning about an extra £10 for a going to a game that 90% of them weren't going to anyway is all they've got to cling to just now. Leave them be.
;o)

90% not going implies 10% are. i don't think we will take 2000 up there.
i seriously hope we do them now, i don't really care about getting my money back... i just want to see even more disappointed home fans then i would have already. how rude and aggressive was that reply back to Henry? They might well be within their "rights" but they certainly aren't winning any friends are they the thieving barstewards.

If that is the case then all her arguments to get out of backing us or getting Preston to back down are out of the equation.

They've put one in now - put me right off my tuna and sweetcorn roll seeing that enigmatic smile staring at me.
It's funny how Ben's forehead has got bigger since he took on the role.
Right, once we've done with Preston, the Newsshopper is next on our list....
Most of me seems to have got bigger since I took on the role. 105K I weighed in at this AM. Too many prawn sarnies!!

couldn't we ask him to see fair?
