we could drop a line to the OB and tell 'em we are all going to turn up on the day and go in the Home areas. They will then tell Preston that as a consequence they will have to have more OB on duty and that the cost will go up. Would be cheaper to let us in for a tenner.

Good point Large.
I'm still going as I really fancied this one, but how they can charge us differently when we're in the same actual stand, as well... £25 on the door, are they taking the p???
Reckon we'd get a few more if it was a tenner, too
Watford had a Hornets Day last season against us and only charged a tenner for everyone. If you're going to a club day or similar thats the way you do it.
Maybe charlton could lay on same free buses and pay some of the ticket price so we take loads up there and say stick your rule where the sun dont shine
[cite]Posted By: cafc_in_perth[/cite]Maybe charlton could lay on same free buses and pay some of the ticket price so we take loads up there and say stick your rule where the sun dont shine
we shouldnt make ourselves out of pocket for their selfishness
[cite]Posted By: Ketman[/cite]Didn't Forest do a similar thing to us many moons ago in this league ? I believe the Club stitched up the Forest fans in the return game.
Is that really the answer though, the only people you are stitching up are real fans, albeit Preston fans, at the end of the day they are no different to us in the fact they are travelling to support thier team, why make them pay just because the owners of their club happen to be c****.

CAFC buy £30,000 worth of tickets (assuming they've got that many) and give them to anyone who has already bought a ticket and refunds the £21.00 they've already paid. They then give the rest away to anyone who wants them on a first come first served basis (no Vally Gold). Charlton everywhere in deepdale but the away end is curiously empty ;-)
If only we could arrange something like this without p1ssing every one else off...........
Needless to say sitting here with my £21 ticket (plus the totally random £1 booking charge they've chosen to chuck in this season even when you pay by debit card and are a season ticket holder) i feel a bit miffed!

I like it. Can you imagine ringing up the PNE ticket office:
"Alright tweekle, can I buy thity grands worth of tickets for the Charlton game please? Yo what luv? Stone me, course we're all dyed in the wool northern mun ... er ... Preston fans. My old mans got a whippet and I haven't washed for a week - what more evidence do you need darlin? All done? Lovely jubbly!"
So Preston go into the bag with Wolves and Pal*ce for championship rip-offs that need to be got back in the home leg
it's a shame that fans like us will end up out of pocket but where is the other solution? why should we charge a very reasonable £20 for every game to be taken the piss out of?
yes on their face they were fine at that price, but as you say, not only did they not inform us of this promotion, or indeed involve us as Watford kindly did last season, but now the price of £10 for home, £21 away is as much of a difference as palace charging us £30+ and not our standard rate of £20
Im not happy bought my tickets on saturday for me and a few mates im gonna nick something out of the museam or rip or pick up my seat after the game to get me money back!!!
it seems like the only way we will get a reduction is by a 'good will' gesture from preston.
if we don't, then boycott the program and make sure we don't choose to eat or drink anything in the ground. this is probably the only financial way of hurting them.
then for the return we organise that programs and food/drink in the jimmy seed stand are double the normal price.
i wonder if the rules say anything about that.
if anyone, like me, has emailed Preston and has not received a response and is now even more peeved off, I believe the email address of the Club Secretary is janet@pne.com Might be worth forwarding any mail onto her.
DId anyone get a response from Preston or the Football League.
I got this from the FL.
Dear Mr Hayes
This wasn't a change of regulation that we as a Customer Services department were entirely happy with. We put forward all the reasons we felt this should not be adopted but at the end of the day it was a proposal put forward by a member club and they voted on it.
Preston North End were actually the first visting club to be affected when the regulation was introduced (it is now in its third season). Visiting supporters accessed home areas and were made welcome by home supporters who sympathised with their position.

Dear Pat
Points taken but I still feel that PNE are taking advantage of this rule and of Charlton and not using it to encourage extra support but to gain a (un)sporting advantage.
I am already hearing that CAFC fans are trying to join Preston membership scheme or will pay to enter home areas on the day at the lower price.

Dear My Hayes
Thank you for your further communication.
Whilst fully appreciating your views, it is the clubs themselves who determine the regulations in General Meeting - The League merely administers them. We also understand this may deter visiting supporters from attending but this is a matter for Preston North End.
Clubs can of course propose amendments to regulations if they wish.
Will bring your communications to the attention of the Customer Services Manager on his return to the office.
Don't hesitate to contact us if we can be of further assistance.

Dear Pat,
Thank you for this.
I understand that the rule is in place and that Preston are entitled to act in this way.
However I feel that it is still unjust even if not against the rules.
PNE have acted in what I can only describe in a poor and rude manner with the fact that Charlton were not informed before the offer was announced on the PNE website.
At a time when all clubs and leagues are looking to encourage away support this action for an evening kick-off game which is on live TV will just be another reason for poor turn out of fans.
I have already been contacted by many fans unhappy with this action and who are saying that they will not now put money into PNEs coffers if this is how little they are regarded by that club.
Good work Ben, I don't think she fully appreciates the problems that will crop up if away fans aren't 'welcomed' in home areas which I find extremely difficult to believe. Will they be 'welcomed' if we repeat our new found habit of winning in the last minute away from home?

For some reason it's making me more angry as I can't go to vent my spleen at these vermin.

That sounds very close to an operation.
