My issue with the above is what areas do we speculate in? As someone posted above, a Barry Banana type creative midfielder makes sense, but who comes out the team to allow this? Get Bree signed up and MAYBE another who can put in decent free kicks / corners (our other Achilles heel) is all I can think of.gringo said:I wonder, if we are still there or there about's when the next transfer window bursts open, if our owners will 'accelerate' our Premier ambitions and have a bit of speculative investment?.

I think Bree signing permanently and then maybe a wildcard attacking player on a loan like we tried with Fofana on deadlineBalladMan said:

Maybe another midfielder and let Anderson out on loan. Can’t see it being a particularly creative type though, surely we’ve realised by now that Jones doesn’t need one?I don’t think January is a window to spend in, so I can’t see there being much investment other than to secure Bree permanently, and then maybe 1 or 2 loans10 -

Parallax is the term used for this occurrence.SoundAsa£ said:As for the ball being out of play it’s debatable.
From what I saw (and made out), it was 50/50…..was the “whole circumference of the ball” outside the line, the bottom surface of the ball certainly was but highly debatable from what we’ve seen IMHO.
When this happens light is seen between the bottom of the ball and the line this sometimes misleads the viewer to believe that the whole circumference is outside the line……especially when it’s happening so fast.
If I had known that before I posted it would have saved a lot of time and effort.😂0 -
I am more concerned that some of our players could be targeted by other clubs in the january window.gringo said:I wonder, if we are still there or there about's when the next transfer window bursts open, if our owners will 'accelerate' our Premier ambitions and have a bit of speculative investment?.7 -

Agree. One of the problems is you need to imagine a laser rising from the edge of the touchline and if it touches any of the ball, the ball is in. Now a lot of times the ref or his assistant says it has gone out in games, I think it might have done but how can they be sure and when they are not sure, surely they should assume it is in rather than out. There was that goal Japan scored against Germany a few years ago and I maintain the ref was right to give it and those arguing against were saying you could see grass between the ball and the line but the ball is a sphere so of course you can.eastterrace6168 said:I can't believe all this debate about TC's wonderful cross which was headed home by Leaburn, the goal was given, was it over the line or not, couldn't give a fig really, but as far as we are concerned it was on the line... right. 🤷♂️
And we won the bloody game 0-3, nuff said...
I am not saying the ball was out or in, but there is no way a human being is going to spot that at the pace it happened and therefore it was good officiating IMO. This isn't bias, it was in because the ref said it was in ultimately, but it is a general point. So many times the ball looks out when it isn't out. I think a lot of assistant refs give balls out so as to not get earache from the fans.3 -
Also not concerned, however if it were to happen I’m pretty confident we are no longer a club to have our pants pulled down.fenaddick said:

I went to a 2nd division game in Sweden last season at Varberg BoIS (father-in-laws team). It was around £20 entry (seating in main stand) and the large club car park is free! Ok, so only 5,000 crowds but still.Stig said:OK, it wouldn't be Charlton Life if someone wasn't moaning after a match. Seeing as every one else is on cloud nine, it looks like I'm going to have to take up the cudgels.
£38 for standing tickets is appalling. Especially when many of the 'seats' in that block have an obscured view. The poor views led to loads of people standing in the gangways. The fresh-faced young stewards, who all looked liked they'd stepped out of sixth-form college that very afternoon, very wisely decided to let this go. It made for an exciting atmosphere, but could have proved fatal if there had been an emergency situation. Ipswich Town need to stop being money-grabbing bastards and stop selling seats with such appalling views - and stop selling at rip off prices.
The car park advertising parking at £4 for 3 hours (seems fair) actually charges £15 to football crowds. How is this blatant rip-off even legal? I absolutely hate the way football fans are treated in this country.0 -

Jesus Christ fella…..the interest is regrading how one deciphers the parallax phenomenon, not about the goals validity. It could have been at any other game with any other team/teams involved.
Of course everyone is Happy as Larry that we benefited from the decision…..but some are also interested in how and why it “might” have been interpreted.1 -

Captured the night tho, we just sat and watched the vlog, smiled the whole way through (helps we’re going mad in the background)
Personally love moments like that, can watch that back in 20 years, beauty of youtube.
Don't think the lads behind me were too keen on the camera, but they didn't ask me to stop or blur them out, and I would if they did.
From a selfish stand point, I love capturing our fans losing it.1 -

Just a quick thing as well mate, I can't upload anymore as quick as I used to, I am using a really high quality camera.
I have to move all the files to my phone to edit which takes some time, then I need to edit and render, and cause of the clip quality (think it's always 2180p) it takes ages to render, then of course the youtube upload.
It's about a 6 hour process now.

I think your vlog is getting better everytime. It is great to get the views of the away fans and really adds to it. Getting their views after a game like Tuesday night might never be possible. A suggestion which may take a while or not be possible is when you bump into some reasonable away fans, maybe get their details and arrange a video conference post match and put out two versions of the vlog, a normal one and an XL one with more content. Another is have a star man feature where you pick your man of the match and say why. I can see the potential for you to have the best vlog out there.4

Miles to CarlLoOkOuT said:Ipswich started well this evening, pulling the Addicks around all over the pitch and looking sharp. Charlton did a lot of chasing in the early stages, with the press working well, but Ipswich looked capable of going up a gear or two.
Not long into the first half, a couple of good saves from Thomas Kaminsky and a few more interventions from Macauley Gillesphey saved the visiting side from going a goal down.
The Ipswich keeper, Alex Palmer, clearly didn’t fancy facing Charlie Kelman and Tanto Olaofe anymore when, on 22 minutes, with fear in his eyes, he went down with a muscle injury and was replaced by Christian Walton. Perhaps he’s clairvoyant and wanted nothing to do with what was to come!
On 35 minutes we made our best attacking move of the night, with a bit of interplay before A’mari Bell crossed in for Sonny Carey to have a go. He didn’t catch the ball cleanly and volleyed it over. Only seconds later, Ipswich were on the counter, their effort beat the Addicks all ends up but only managed to rocket back off the crossbar. Ipswich then had another effort but it was a bit of pressing from Charlie Kelman that put Tanto Olaofe into space, bearing down on the Ipswich keeper, but his shot failed to sneak underneath Walton’s leg and Ipswich were let off the hook.
In the last minute of the first half, Bell forced a turnover on the keeper’s pass that resulted in a corner. The incoming ball just evaded Charlie Kelman’s head and was prodded at the goal and over the bar by Lloyd Jones.
Both sides went in level at the break. Ipswich were clearly a step above in their movement and fluidity in possession. Charlton were well organised out of possession and largely contained the home side but had a harder time in possession. Still, the Addicks had their moments and could have scored one or two against the run of play had they had a little more composure and a touch of luck.
The second half started with more Ipswich dominance. They had a couple of chances to open the scoring but again failed to. It was Charlton that struck first! Six minutes into the second half, it was Sonny Carey driving at two of the Ipswich defenders. Kelman proved a foil, taking the second defender away, leaving Carey to strike with his left and into the back of the net, firing the Addicks into what was, at that point, an improbable lead.
Moments later, the improbable happened again: Charlie Kelman blasted a thunderous strike in from twenty yards forcing a more than decent save. Then, the Addicks put together a bit of glorious play in the Ipswich Town box. Conor Coventry on the right swung the ball in and Tanto Olaofe flicked it towards goal, forcing the defenders and the keeper to intervene. In the commotion, the ball popped up and fell to Macauley Gillesphey to head the visitors into a two goal lead. The worm had truly turned and it was the Addicks that benefited from a spell of good luck, all in the space of a few minutes.
It was only more disappointment for the home side when the goal they scored on 58 minutes was ruled offside.
On 61 minutes, Kelman and Olaofe were replaced by Miles Leaburn and Tyreece Campbell. Campbell made an almost instant impact when his cross from the right was swatted away in front of the keeper by Ashley Young and out for a corner. The resulting set piece was floated to the back post where Lloyd Jones chased it over his head. The ball was played out to Conor Coventy through a reverse pass into Tyreece Campbell who, with a burst of pace, managed to save it from going out (disputed!?) and pop it over to Miles Leaburn to head home the Addick’s third!
On 71 minutes Ipswich broke down the right, catching the Addicks off guard. But, as the ball came into the middle, Kayne Ramsay made an absolutely superb block to deny a tap in. The home side must have been wondering what was going on! But they didn’t have long to ponder, because Tyreece Campbell immediately went down the other end, beat three defenders and curled a shot past the keeper that went just inches wide. The East Anglian natives, who had been quite quiet, were now noticeably restless, with boos ringing out across the ground. At this point, I have to be honest: we had so many decent bits of play that I couldn’t keep up with my note taking!
All 1800+ travelling fans got a performance to remember! They were in good voice, with the home side silenced (even in the early stages, for some reason). What a night! Perhaps not quite payback for the recent six nil thrashing, but sweet, sweet, sweet nonetheless.
Thomas Kaminsky was solid and made some impactful saves. The back five were all immense, as were Coventy and Docherty in front of them, once they got to grips with the pace. The forwards played their part in forcing any luck, with Sonny Carey giving us the platform to go on and extend the lead beyond Ipswich. He was immense. The starting strikers worked hard and their replacements made an immediate impact. What commitment down to a man!
Take a bow Nathan Jones, Curtis Fleming, and the coaching team. Well done!
Ipswich 0 Charlton 3
Over to you.

When I watch Miles play like that I think he could even become an international. Quite a few miles (excuse the pun) in the road before we get there but if he can stay injury free who knows.2
