i can honestly say other than our local club rivalries, i think i hate these pricks more than any other club1

Fastest I ever got back to New Street after the final whistle. Cheered the the lads when they came over then made a strategic withdrawall....ElfsborgAddick said:CatAddick said:
Always managed to avoid trouble in the 80s (even at the battle of the bridge I dodged everything) but I would say that at every game there was an 'edge' to the atmosphere. Some more than others. Normally racked up outside the ground.ElfsborgAddick said:Isawsummersplay said:Totally agree with Blackpool72. Watching Charlton home and away through the late 60’s and the 70’s was a unique experience, but was also one I would not have missed for the world. Lifelong friendships were forged during that time, a time when violence both in the ground and outside was commonplace up and down the country.
Most of the time, you were able to navigate safely through this with a bit of nouse and common sense. But inevitably there were times when you had a choice - do you run, or do you stand your ground. Not being the fastest on my toes, the choice for me was fairly straightforward! And you’d be surprised how often just standing your ground was enough for the opposition to have second thoughts, and they would quickly melt away into the darkness.
As I said, I would not have missed those days for the world, but now with children and grandchildren, I am relieved that football violence is now the exception rather than the norm, and long may that be the case. It's a tribal thing, I am 20 years younger than Sir @blackpool72 but I go back long enough to know how things were. Most games there was 'tension', it was an accepted thing.
St Andrews '87 before and after the game was a hoot.1 -
The majority of the thread is talking about bad fans, not bad owners. That is a different matter. They laughed at us during our demise I don't know why you think they earned our sympathy in any way unless you are on a "massive" wind up.cafctom said:
You’re right - I am too young to have experienced it first hand. And that’s probably a good thing, because I don’t have a skewed / biased perspective of them as a club based on things that happened a very long time ago, in what was clearly a very different era to be a football fan than it is now.blackpool72 said:
Trying to explain to someone what it was like being a football fan in the 70s is very hard to do.cafctom said:
Well there's an argument full of logic and sense.Bedsaddick said:
Woke nonsense . Fuck emcafctom said:Imagine being so sensitive that a stupid comment from a player about 10 years ago, and a few idiotic fans (of which we have a few ourselves), is enough for anyone to show zero sympathy for a club and generations of its fans that have followed them for 158 years.
Seriously, some of you need to grow up a little bit.
If you experienced that era you fully understand some of the comments on here.
If on the other hand you are too young to have lived in that era then you have no idea what it was like.
Some of us have a strong dislike for Sheffield Wednesday because of what has happened down the years but I doubt you will understand why.
So, how about those Sheffield Wednesday fans who were also not about in the 70s? The kids who are on the start of their journey with a hobby they’re falling in love with? The local businesses who depend on them?Should it be OK to see them suffer all because of the idiotic behaviour of others 50 years ago? Of course not.Ultimately, a bad owner at Sheffield Wednesday is not just a Sheffield Wednesday problem. It’s an English football problem. If you want to see Sheffield Wednesday lose every week or get relegated because of a personal experience - I get that. That’s part of being an emotional football fan.
But anyone taking enjoyment out of a situation where a club is potentially going to the wall needs to take a step back and see it from a far bigger (and more important) perspective.
No doubt that will just get called “woke nonsense”, but I don’t care. The health of English Football is more important than a few people’s gripes that date back to a few scrapes in the 1970s.5 -
How about singing Karma chameleon to Baldy Bannana?0

Because of their supposedly big club status, their points deduction which was carried over to the next season relegated us,also on our relegation from the premier league, when they beat us 1-0 at the Valley, their supporters sang "always look on the bright side of life"with great pleasure.Well what comes round comes round,I dont want them to fold, just suffer like we have (We have also suffered Karma, remember "We put the Palace down"cafctom said:

That can never be taken away from us, f*** 'em.

They won’t want a points deduction carried over to next season this time . They will want it out the way this season as they are probably going down anyway . Last thing they will want is 12 or 15 points taken off of them that keeps them in league one .thickandthin63 said:

I do have quite a dislike for Sheff Wed like many others here. For me it stems back to when we got relegated in 1999 and how their fans behaved. There also seemed a deep sense of entitlement from their fans in the 2011/2012 season and then us getting relegated when they should have been deducted points just rubbed salt into the wounds.
I actually would like to see them go bust and get thrown out of the league, not because I have a vindictive vendetta against them; but because I think they are big enough (definitely no massive!) to survive as a phoenix team and come back into the league. At some point a club the size of Sheffield Wednesday needs to go pop in order for the whole English football world to take notice and perhaps deter rouge investors from buying clubs1 -

No one would bat an eye lid if Sheffield Wednesday went bust. All the TV and Sports journalists talk about really is the top 5-6 nowadays. Whilst Sheffield Wednesday are clearly a big side, the sad fact of UK footy nowadays is that if they went bust the sporting press would move on within 2 days, if that.BDS said:I do have quite a dislike for Sheff Wed like many others here. Just for having an open top bus parade for finishing SECOND !!! ............. they deserve to be banished to the Northern Premier League for the next 100 years. Silly twats. I wouldn't open my front door for an open top bus parade for finishing 2nd in the third division.BDS said:I do have quite a dislike for Sheff Wed like many others here. Wednesday are in a mess because of the owner. With a decent owner they should have the muscle to be top 6 championship.Athletico Charlton said:

Can’t stand em! Think it was first game of the season at home to them. They done us 3-0 and they were throwing bricks etc under the Random Walk tunnel. Seen a few things outside their place after the game, namely a few of them having a pop and at a father and Son just walking back to their car after the Jacko winning free kick game. I hope they rot especially after the dodging of relegation in 19/20.1

Don’t have much time for Wednesday as a club but can’t ever wish liquidation on other fans.Would love to see Bannan get clattered for 90 minutes though.2
