We brought him cause he was one of the best players in league one .. lots of assists and even Reading leading scorer .. then we give him 5 mins here 5 mins there .. when he plays we play him as a wing back like Tuesday no wonder he struggled … we have an excellent attacking player who will create but for god sake give him
a run in his proper position ( replace Campbell )

  • His best position is the AM role but it seems he’s below Carey and berry in the pecking order there for me. Too lightweight for central midfield too.

When did Knibbs play Wing-Back on Tuesday? - It was Ramsay / Bree at Full-Back and then Campbell / Bree at Wing-Back... Am shocked... Just shocked I tells ya... that you want him replacing an Academy player in the line up

No idea what to make of Knibbs. He’s a threat from a stoppage time corner when the box is packed but looks a passenger when he starts and too desperate to get involved when subbed on. Clearly was meant to be an upgrade on Carey who has been better than expected but even Berry has leapfrogged Knibbs in the pecking order. All a bit odd

NJ bloody loves Luke Berry. He'd probably put him up there with Messi and Ronaldo as the best to ever play the game.

I'm frustrated that he is starting over Knibbs, or even Fullah. Knibbs has scored 3 goals in a minor amount of minutes. Give him the amount of game time Berry got in L1 last year and he'll scored more than Luke did, and at the level above.
  • Berry was arguably our best player last night attacking wise when on the pitch , he also put the boot in as well.
Knibbs can sniff out a chance but starting Knibbs has offered next to nothing but I'm sure it's pure coincidence he gets chances that our really unlucky strikers never seem to get
  • We need goals and imo if every player had every minute of the season left to play - Kelman, Carey and Knibbs would score the most goals. Comfortably.

So I would play Kelman, with Carey cutting in from a wide left position like at Blackpool, and Knibbs centrally behind.

Then on the other side behind Kelman (the Saka England equivalent) it’s Apter cutting in onto his left as he did at Blackpool.

Olaofe and Campbell good impact subs. Leaburn as a rotation alternative to Kelman.
  • I think if he was a free transfer wouldnt have minded at all but to think 20% of our summer budget went on a 3rd choice CAM really doesn’t make a lot of sense, especially when you think Fullah will probably be ready in a few years as well

Fullah’s not even that far behind, he’s already shown he can impact games at this level. For me NJ should be using him off the bench more often, he’s got a rare combination in our squad of pace and ability on the ball which could help us improve in possession and with creating/scoring goals.

Knibbs has shown he can poach goals, but he’s not shown enough outside of that when he does start games.

Charlie Savage would solve our midfield issues if he misses Knibbs ;)

Yeah berry never stops working and pops up in the right spot constantly and can grab a goal - basically a system’s coach like NJ’s perfect player.
  • I wonder if he could convert to the striker roll.

No doubt he has a moment of quality in him, he's shown that, but I thought his goal return last year was pretty middling, especially considering he dropped out of the Premier League and into League One. And in a lot of games he was largely anonymous.

Needs more game time and deserves a run in the team... I don't really care if he is anonymous half the time, we need goals and he knows where the back of the net is

He has sometimes played as a 9 for Reading previously.

To me he's too slow to be an effective 10, driving from midfield, but has presence in the box. All his goals for us have been centre forward style goals.

Kelman in goal could be a bit of a risky move... But suspect he'd have done better on Monday night

Kaminski up front I’m worried about given how he avoids crosses

He'll be fine... When do we ever put any accurate crosses in?

Still think Knibbs currently forms part of the best midfield we can put out.

I appreciate he has gone off the boil a bit, but I think Carey has the intelligence to be able to play in the slightly deeper role alongside Coventry, with Knibbs in the 10.  Knibbs applies a press better in that 10 position than Carey, but Carey has the significantly greater ability in close quarters to both dribble and pass the ball when under pressure. I think Knibbs has shown he has a knack for being in the right place at the right time as a goal threat, and with the current style of play we adopt, I'd rather he was on the team than not if we wanted another goal threat. Just don't think he's been given enough of a fair crack with the whip, starting only 4 times and never given a full 90.

Docherty is too limited a footballer at this level - Anderson similar for now (and sadly feels like his ability with the ball may never come). Berry doesn't have the legs and should only be brought on as a 70+ minute sub.. JRC might be able to force himself alongside Coventry, but I'm still sceptical of him actually making a difference, and I think Carey brings more there if Knibbs could be given a run as 10.

I'd love to see us bring in another clever, box-to-box midfielder that could add competition in this area, as I feel many of our scoring woes start by a lack of ball playing options in midfield. This may be by design from NJ, but I despise how we regularly bypass our midfield to begin our attacking play with a hoofball to Leaburn.

He has a lack of positional discipline, is very ball orientated when out of possession which leads to leaving his man, leaving pass lanes open and breaking down the out of possession structure. Seems like an honest pro so hopefully he can work hard and improve these points.
I was very disappointed with him last night, his passing was unacceptable. Below 40% completion is inexcusable. Hopefully a one off bad night.

How many dishonest pro’s are there ?
I met one on Brighton pier once. She took me to the cleaners.

Im still not sure what he actually offers for anything other than the last role of dice battering ram upfront type of role, like outting your CB up top but with a bit more quality tbh. Anything longer than 5min spells he's looked truly woeful. Maybe hes more that second striker but doesn't seem nearly disciplined enough for any kind of midfield role. You can't argue with his stats historically

Thought that was one of his better performances off the bench. A better ball from Carey and he could have had a goal or an assist at the end. More importantly he looked lively in the right areas

Knibbs may be one of the few players you can’t actually tell whether they’re good or bad played 450 mins of football and I can’t make up my mind w him
