I’ve never seen a manager of any club be as intense as he is on the sidelines, he doesn’t stop for the entire match and seems to lose it over the smallest of things.Do those who normally sit near the dugouts just get used to it during matches?
Nathan will freak out over a throw in on the half way line!
I suppose calming down a bit might take something from his style, but can it be healthy for the bloke?1 -
Just three managers in the Championship have been at the helm longer than NJ which is pretty telling given that he has only been with us for little more than 18 months.3

A proper modern day Neil Warnock. Hated by opposition fans but adored by his own. Whenever I’ve spoken to him he’s calm and quiet - complete 360 from his pitch side version.I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I absolutely love it. He is definitely a massive asset for us28

Mrs Jones must be something close to a saint if he's the same at home0

I absolutely love his passion and can totally understand why some players buy into it but others wont.
And if they were honest alot of those fans from other clubs that give him stick would be delighted if he was their Manager1 -

And a bit Sam allardyce with a Chris Coleman accent.
He's nothing like Pardew.

It feels like Jones' intensity was exactly what we needed after ~4 years treading water in mid-table League 1. Has a plan, tactically and in terms of the personnel he wants, and if a player doesn't do what's needed/expected of them they're not going to be in the side.
Can go two ways, but for where we were at the time it worked perfectly (once we got going) and seems to continue to be doing so now.
I'm sure some of the players think he's a bit of an oddball and might not be their cup of tea, but he has substance that so many of our recent managers haven't which is the key difference. They seem to respect him, even if inside they're rolling their eyes at some of the antics.1 -
Be thankful for small mercies3 -

"Oh COME ON, COME ON. Faster, faster."
[Nathan screams in frustration]
"NO, NO, NO. The plates are in the wrong ***king order on the draining board! And look at the ***king mark left on the bottom of this mug!"
[Nathan holds his head in the hands for a minute]
"I'm frustrated, I'm angry. It's totally unacceptable. I'm bringing Danny Hylton home tomorrow to show you the standards I expect with the washing up."12 -

Great to see the MOTM panel looking outside the obvious candidates. 2 wins and 2 draws is an excellent return for a newly promoted side on a "sensible" budget.
Of the other candidates Heckingbottom and Stephan would be far more deserved winners than McKenna, when Ipswich have the best squad in the division.2 -
Hmmm, that defeat at Preston might be a godsend if it means Heckingbottom gets the curse of the manager of the month award rather than Nathan.3

Was going to bump the
I am going to say it!! Yes I am, Nathan Jones......................
thread since it has been a year since it was created, but I guess let’s forget it ever happened and banish it to Charlton Life obscurity (till of course we start hating on Nathan Jones again)0 -

A 5 nil win over a struggling Sheff Utd is good I suppose but the other games were a limp home win over Portsmouth, a draw with Bristol City and losing to Blackburn when down to 10 men before the game was abandoned.1 -

The monthly awards can be dismissed, all that matters is the end of season one.
