Five years is an awful long time in football. Having said that it shows that the owners and Jones see the project clearly as one that’s going to progress year on year.
He'll be negotiating again in 12 months once we've won at Wembley again.
Got to be auto's, don't think I could take another play-off scenario...

Fantastic news. Heard he was on very decent money anyway so looks like the owners are going to back him! COYR
This was my thinking. Surely he’s had assurances on what backing he’ll get. Lovely stuff!

I wonder if Jones potentially used the Cardiff noise to get a bit of extra dosh from the new contract. Fair play to him if so.

Good news and a welcome contribution to stability. Surely says something about the owners commitment.

If I was a cynic I'd say that maybe the nonsense Cardiff speculation suited Jones.

    Luckily, I'm not.
    Are you Eni Aluko?

Six months ago the bloke was "dead man walking". Now we're all lauding the fact that he's signing a new contract. Never let it be said that fans (of all clubs) aren't the most fickle of individuals.
Six months ago nobody knew what our best line up looked like. We did, however, know what various combinations of players didn’t work though. And we knew the bottom of the table was a lot closer than a play off place.

Then all of a sudden we did know what our best line up looked like and it was playing every week.

    the rest is history.

Perhaps you should re-read this instead of trying to be clever. I wasn't point scoring even if you read it that way. I did not say "some of us Charlton fans are fickle" or even "that some fans (of all clubs)", I said "that fans (of all clubs)". Whether you like it or not us football fans are fickle. One minute I've thought a player is useless, the next minute I've thought he's brilliant. Have you ever done that?

Perhaps you're being just a tad too sensitive. I don't need a "#" to make my point or to be insulting either. Oh, and you are most welcome!

When you look at the ownership situation at the likes of Wednesday and Cardiff this week, you realise how lucky we are.

Can’t believe he would sign a 5 year contract without playing budget assurances and PC wouldn’t have come to twiddle his thumbs either. Of course we still need to see that followed up but signs are more promising than they have been in years.

We deserve it after what we’ve been through with owners.

Is that up the Charlton Reds or the Cardiff Reds? (Dare I mention their brief rebrand).
