  • After all that, the game is now officially suspended and will be played tomorrow. 8pm in the UK.

    Thanks for the updates.
  • Brings back memories of the Junior Reds coach at Birmingham.
  • Absolutely awful scenes and terrible for the image of Argentinean football. Such a shame as there's been so much build-up to this and now all the focus is on the off the field events. Tonight is going to be very tense: hope the game passes without violent incidents outside the ground.

    Good luck with that!

If they win they'll riot in celebration. If they lose they'll probably set fire to their own stadium.

They won't be able to set fire to it at the moment because the council have closed it. Need to go and see a judge and try and get it reopened this morning.

Probably best the judge reopens it, unless he wants to be murdered.
  • Insane. At the end of the day it’s just 22 blokes kicking a ball about - there’s no need for this (unless it’s the Palace coach).

  • Obviously they have to play it soon though as one of them has to play in the FIFA World club cup which starts in just over 2 weeks.
  • Probably would have been better to have had the game as a one off in a neutral venue (in a different country) than over two legs in Buenos Aires.

Coincidentally this is actually the last year that it was going to be held over 2 legs anyway. Changing to a one off final from next year.
  • If you were driving without a police escort, why would you go past where all their fans are with a big BOCA badge on the bus?!

Great, imagine having those fans in your country for a couple of days.

I was on the coach. Shocking behaviour - those morons even attacked their own stewards to try and get to us. It was like Fort Apache/The Alamo for a while as we couldn't get out of the ground. The 'wonderful' West Midlands police couldn't give a toss - not a sign of them all afternoon. Even the team coach had no escort. They eventually sent a mini with a couple of plods to get us back on the coach - which incidentally had the window next to where my daughter was sitting bricked. The outer window blew while we were on the motorway! I won't forget that birthday in a hurry! Ever since I always allow myself a little smile when I see Birmingham have lost.

I have hated Birmingham with a passion because of that and the Jasper Carrott half time rant at another game there.

Similar thing happened in 81, though I don't recall any damage to the supporters club coach.

    UAE.

Games in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
  • CONMEBOL confirm 2nd leg will take place on the 8th or 9th of December, outside of Argentina

Believe it or not this was the Junior Reds coach - full of youngsters!

*checks flights* I would be hugely hugely tempted to go over there if they make tickets available
